    I had the same issues.. it's specially evident in low RPM.. the dealer upgraded the pump to larger model, and it has fixed the issues..

    I Had a 30hp e tec and had the exact same problem ended up cooking it brp replaced the power head under warranty . I then sold the boat for a bigger one which had a 50 etec it was a great motor
    You would hope when brp update there smaller motors soon they will address these problems .

    I noticed when your muffs were installed, no water coming out of the pee hole. Is that normal for the f30? But operating normally in the water..

      Hey Dan, thanks for the question. It does come out but takes some time to do so. I also have the same issue with my new F130 Yamaha. I now normally turn on hose and leave for a while before starting allowing time for the leg to fill up. Seems to work much better.

    I have an Etec G2 300 with over 2,000 hrs on it and it is lightyears above the F300 Yamaha it replaced. That being said, I would never buy the Evinrude 30hp motor. The impeller issue is such a simple fix, yet they haven't managed to do it. Pisses me off, like when Yamaha kept releasing new generations of their 350 outboard and kept producing them with disposable flywheels.

      Thanks for your comment. I did here about this issue recently. Just goes to show every manufacture has their issues, particularly with new models. My outboard is the old Yamaha V4 Saltwater Series 130hp 2 stroke - bullet proof but a little smoky. There has been so many changes in outboards since my 2008 outboard. I saw a cutdown of the 350 Yamaha at the Boat Show recently and the technology was incredible, especially the electromagnetic steering (I believe Evinrude had some massive failures getting this right too). Regards,

      @@ShortFlic Yeah when the Evinrude G2s first came out, the integrated steering was basically a nightmare. If the steering system wasn't bled right (and a lot of installers didn't do it right), it was basically guaranteed to fail. I'm lucky I got mine after they fixed some of the flaws with the original steering. I love the clean rigging, but I really wish they offered the big block G2s without the integrated steering. Can't complain with over 2,000 hrs and no issues, unbeatable performance and economy, but regular old hydraulic steering has been around for a while and has always been reliable.
      Those old two strokes are bullet proof. The old Yamaha OX66's were some of my favorites. Favorite of all time would be the Mercury 250 EFI Offshore. That's a motor that won't ever quit. But with new technology (DI two strokes and four strokes), you can basically double your fuel economy and therefore range.
      I wonder why it is that Yamaha decided to copy Evinrude with what I consider one of Evinrudes worst ideas. It's the new 425 not the 350, right? Or are they integrating steering into the F350 now?

      Yup everyone has their issues. I just bought an etec 90 hp this spring and I love it. I chose it over the merc (any 4 stroke really) because of weight and the fact that I dont need to take it to the dealer to winterize it. But hopefully it lasts forever.

      And I forgot but the fuel mileage is amazing with the etec. And even though it's a 2 stroke, the oil consumption is amazing too that external tank is about 3/4 of a gallon (US) and I used the boat for 2 weeks and used maybe half of it.

      Anything apart from the 2 cylinder CV30 (CV =customer value). I had lots of trouble with mine (from new), maybe I had an isolated experience. My personal choice would be between the proven F Series F70 - F225 or two strokes 70 - 130hp (bullet proof).

    • @ShortFlic
      @ShortFlic  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, we didn't have the electronic data from motor to Lowrance (NMEA200) until recently. We found we had to go to a smaller pitch propeller as we were only getting to 4300rpm (at 39km/hr). Now we can get 5100rpm and 45km/hr. Probably could go another propeller change to get 5500 but not a major deal breaker. This little motor does 4.5km per litre of fuel across most revs above plane. In this case we used the propeller that came with each motor from new. In 99% of cases it wouldn't be necessary to change.

      All small motors get neglected as far as propellers go. I have a 4.0 metre Clark Magnum with a 25 N 2 stroke. Fully fitted with Minnkota bow mount. Correctly propped 27 knots @ 6000rpm.

    For all those who compare Yamaha 30 hp with other 30 hp motors. This is pointless since the Yamaha does not have a 30 hp motor. It's 40 hp limited to 30 hp.
    If your boat is limited to 30 hp and you are looking for reliability and massive components - buy a Yamaha 30 hp.
    If you are looking for speed and a light motor buy a Suzuki 30 hp. The difference in weight is about 20 kg.!!!
    By moving the gas tank and battery forward, you can compensate for the difference in weight and legally get a larger motor for the same money.
    You decide.

      @@basslurereview2084 Hi, Its a Brooker 410 Fisherman (see 0.52 into video). It's 4.1mt long and yes, now it has been re-propped (giving higher rpm at WOT) it will plane with three, no problem, as long as each lad doesn't bring a ton of gear and a carton each :) .

    • @ShortFlic
      @ShortFlic  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, should have gone for the same head size (and weight) of the F40. We re-propped though to reach 5600 at WOT and that makes a huge difference...In this video we were only getting 4500rpm.
