    It is perfectly noticeable that when your mental health improves, everything or almost everything around you also improves. Naomi looks in better shape and it's wonderful to see how she has more patience, how she laughs at her mistakes and is not negative with herself. I honestly think she could have a great game on any surface but she has to stay focused, positive and calm. Her first serve lately is insane although in this match I got nervous many times when she stayed at the net due to the force with which she threw it 😹. I hope this was the first step to go far in this tournament.

    Naomi looked really good. That serve is dangerous on any surface, so glad to see it be a factor here. Clean, decisive hitting. • @JHR768

    Osaka seems like she is starting to develop the controlled aggression Andre Agassi had towards the latter half of his career. That is to play tight tennis, punish the ground strokes so you will not be attacked too much and most importantly NOT MISS. To do this, especially on clay courts, she will need to be prepared mentally to really grind. Some of her winners still seem a tad risky to me. When she loses matches it seems it's more a case of too many errors. Was so impressed with Agassi's latter half of his career. As a young kid he bashed balls everywhere and had good and bad days. As he matured he just worked really, really hard and gave his opponents no free points while staying aggressive himself. If he lost, it was because the opponent played unbelievable and not because Agassi ever gave up or gave away easy points.

    • @InvisionHopeHealthyLiving
      @InvisionHopeHealthyLiving 2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I see a similar game with Ostapenko. Yes, you have to be mentally and physically prepared because those ground strokes require high speed and baseline hits. Those players can also fire lots of missed balls. Naomi is gaining that confidence back. Good for her knowing she doesn't have as much success on clay as she has on hard surfaces.

    One of those rare instances where you'd feel happy for both players. Naomi's shots were so crisp and clean as always. Totally dominated her opponent playing on a surface which she's not so comfortable with. Expected a bit more of a fight from Nastya Potapova as she was in form. Fatigue could've been a factor too. But the good thing is that she could learn a lot from this defeat against a top class player as she still has a long way to go. Age is on her side. I follow both players and wish them best of luck for the remainder of the season.

      I agree!! nobody is beating an in form Osaka not even Iga….Osaka just needs her confidence back and matches under her belt…she looks fitter then when she played in Miami I’m assuming she didn’t like the fact she lost knew she had to step it up! Only time will tell I guess.

    Naomi Osaka has double the slams of Halep and Muguruza. She has one more than Kerber, Lindsey Davenport, capriati..
    Osaka is already tied with Clijsters and Sanchez Vicario
    But why does it feel like Naomi is still this young upstart trying to prove her game to the world...
    When she beat Muguruza, Serena, and Brady to win the Australian 2021, her fourth slam , Naomi had the aura of a four time slam winner and #1 player, but after her losses to Anisimova in Australia and Swiatek in Miami Naomi has the aura of a 16th seed rn

    Electronic coin toss and line calling should be the way to go for all tennis events. And for all those who are wondering if the electronic coin toss is really random, logic tells me that it is 100% random. The program that does it is quite simple but certainly expensive. It is surely designed to have random outcomes out of only two possible results and there is no way anybody can tamper with it unless he makes changes to the source code, which only the original programmer can do. And in the WTA, honestly, the outcome of the toss doesn't even matter as most players prefer to receive.

    Potapova ain't that bad you know, it's just that she literally has no arsenal and that serve is basically just a serve to start a point, not to win a point. So-so forehand, so-so backhand, I think her only saving grace is her grind to chase all the ball but she's not a crafty grinder like Radwanska or one heck of an error-less pusher like Wozniacki. That's why she's probably gonna end her career as just at best a Top 30, or if she's in a good form, Top 20 players with some WTA titles here and there and a surprise QF or SF break in Grand Slam

      @rafarequeni822 2 роки тому +4

      Hell, no, the only thing I've almost quitted men's tennis is because everything is hitting topspin as hard as you can. No tactics, no skill, no nothing, just hitting topspin to ensure the ball falls inside the court limits and wait for the rival to miss.
