Hey friends!! Those dang horses sure know how to get hurt, don’t they?? 🤦🏻♀️ Looks like he’ll be just fine. So glad to help another outfit that lives and breathes ranching just like us 😊 Thank you for the kind comments as well- we sure try hard to do our best 👍🏼👍🏼
❤ I'm a big fan of Painted Desert Ranch. It was Danielle and her son that suggested that we tune into your channel if we felt like we couldn't get enough of them. I have to tell you that I just love your content, and the way your family lives their life. I also love how calm you are, even in the belief that you know them cows got out of the pasture, AGAIN. LoL Thank You, and Your Family, for posting these videos. Your family is AWESOME in the way that you gather together to get the big projects done, and have fun. And, by family, I mean the neighbors, and close personal family friends too. Have A GREAT WEEK. 🤠
Thank you so much for your comments and for watching. I wish I could say I have been calm and patient with these cows, but boy has it been frustrating!!!! We just can not get them to settle down, they are on the move constantly. We are hoping they will settle down in the next pasture, as it is the last pasture we go into. Fingers Crossed
Looks like the colt is really healing up good i also enjoy the painted desert ranch videos Henson is a very good horse trainer Bones is a good looking gray horse someone will end up with a very nice horse
I completely understand how it feels to have a horse injured like that. We had a 2 year old gelding, from our mare and stud, that was attacked by a mountain lion. He was bit down to the bone and clawed on his chest. Our vet had a big job sewing him up. I recommend vetrycin for that cut. It will help reduce scaring. I've used it on my horses and it works. You have great videos. The best part is that you show the good and the bad of ranching! Things don't always go right, animals get hurt, cows get out, fences have to be repaired. Thank you for sharing real ranch life.
Thanks for your comments. I have some vetrycin, I will give that a try. These kind of things always happen to the good ones!!! And yes, it always seems like it is something when you are ranching, or have animals. You never know from day to day what is going to happen next.
I also watch Painted Desert Ranch. I like that their colts are raised out on the range, they learn early on how to handle rough country. I've wondered why you don't buy horses from them.
Youre vet tech did an amazing job sewing up that nasty cut on that fine colt. I can see why you were concerned. She made the cut close up really well and the temperment of that colt speaks to another reason why you hold him in high regard. Hes a fine specimen of horse breeding. Good looking colt. All your horses appear to be correct in their confirmation and healthy. Good job. Enjoying your channel for the 1st time today. Im subscribing. Im way down in GA. We have a Cremello Paint Quarter Horse Mare and a Dash for Cash 3 year old futurity Colt started under saddle. You can see your horses and cattle, dogs too are well tended to. That's one reason I'm subscribing. Best wishes! ❤❤❤
Ridi n back home or to the truck or camp was always my favorite time of day. I think you got the idea usin the hose on that wound, twice a day. Then use a little betadine and dmso. Heal em up without a scar. Been doin her for 60 or so years
Hey thanks for the suggestions. I have some betadine and DMSO, I will give them a try. I used to trot back to the truck, or to camp, but now days I like just walking a long and taking a breath. Thanks for watching.
It's funny that you mentioned Painted Dessert Ranch because I just saved the link to their channel on the other day thinking that I would check it out when I get a chance. I'm checking them out now. Thanks.
Just found your channel yesterday and have watched several of your videos already. I like the way you do your filming. Beautiful scenery. You have really good looking horses as well. A few years back i had to sew up one of my mares. I was chasing bulls and a bull stuck a horn in her front between her leg and chest cavity. She did heal up good with very little scarring. It was opened up 8 inches and went pretty deep. Keep making videos!
First time watcher, the new dog really seemed to connect with you. He kept looking over, I wonder if hand signals had been used-or just point and go? Danielle is Great and in the couple of years I have enjoyed following them, I have NEVER seen a bad foal or horse...They turn out the most sensible foals, that can be haltered, tied and they just stand there...Really amazing animals. That cut looked terrible. She did amazing work getting that back together, and he is healing so well. Seeing it right after stiches, it looked like it would really show, maybe be ragged. Perhaps that was the ointment, but he is healing absolutely well. Wonderful to have a vet tech nearby..Did she use staples? Whatever she used, great job....I subscribed, and wonder, do your neighbors bring your cattle back when they are in their pastures, also what State are you in? It is beautiful.. Good luck on the bulls!!! I was afraid we would see that a bull had gored one of the horses. I subscribed.
Thanks for watching! Yes we have really good neighbors. They bring our cows back and we take theirs back and help eachother out in any way we can. We ranch summer time in Colorado and spend the winters in southern utah.
Wow! I watch a few of your videos, and this one has a connection to me. I have a 29 year old appaloosa gelding and his granddaddy is Two Eyed Jack! So, Red Buck is related to my appy. Interesting.
Are you putting fly wipe on that daily? I can see she left the bottom open to drain. I wonder why no surgical tubbing for a drain? If it gets infected it will go to the foot and cause laminitis.
Your vet tech did a nice job suturing that wound! She’s correct in saying the edges should be shaved, and depending on how long it’s been open, a debridement of the edges would insure the tissue heals together and reduce the chance of infection. Dead tissue won’t adhere to dead tissue. Also there should have been an antiseptic used to clean the wound before suturing… …This horse will probably have a much more noticeable scar in the end. I realize your vets a long way away but basic wound care isn’t all that complicated!
Honestly I think anybody who just gives their dog away like it was nothing probably didn't take the time to teach it to be a pet so a name means nothing to him. JS.

Really hard to beat two eyed jack horses!

Brilliant work guys!
Yearlings and 2 year-olds seen to always find themselves impaled on metal.fence posts. Too many zoomies. I have seen thst same injury so many times.

How can I contact you about the horse for sale?

What in the world does that dog have around his neck? It looks like an antenna!
GPS tracking collar
Old horse traders would pack the wound with lime , it would heal up just fine!
Thanks we will give that a try
Pine tar helps too.
