Worst Penalty Call in the CFL in 2021

- While I'm sure there are some very good candidates for "the worst call" every season, I think this one might just be the worst. While in the end they got the call right (after it needed to be challenged), and it ultimately didn't affect the outcome of the game I just can't believe it was called in the first place. Even on the replay I'm not sure which official threw the flag but whoever it was needs to be retrained.

Winnipeg continues to get these ridiculous calls even two years later.
This & the roughing the passer in BC last week that prevented the riders getting a safety

It's obvious that the refs intended to call "unnecessary roughness" when a Bomber player was thrown down on top of the Bomber kicker.
Because it was the kicker who was involved they inadvertently called "roughing the kicker". An oops in terminology. Nothing more. .
They called "roughing the kicker" on number 74 of Saskatchewan who is the player that bumped into the kicker and knocked him over in the first place. Number 91 is the one who pushed the Bomber player onto him while he was on the ground, so I dont believe this was a case of wrong terminology or else they would have called it on 91. Even then, pushing/blocking someone who falls on someone on the ground isnt a penalty in and of itself.
@@xXSPfan70Xx you could argue it’s a makeup call because I believed there was a botched call earlier in the drive in the riders favour. Also bomber fans are superior to rider fans in how loud they are. Just need to make that known

What an unbelievable long wait for discussing what's the correct penalty! Therefore, #74 of the Roughriders is innocent after all. Also, #91 of the Roughriders would have been guilty for shoving #66 of the Blue Bombers. But the question is, how did #13 of the Blue Bombers fall forward after his kick and run?

honestly, the league should have restored Dickinson's challenge. There was time later in this game when an extra look from the command centre would have been useful but we only had one challenge in the second half. He should not have had to throw that flag in the first place
With replay and technology, we shouldn't need challenge flags at all. Having "professional" sports where some of the plays are not reviewable is just silly. They should have a group/team that is reviewing every single one behind the scenes. Otherwise, the league becomes less legitimate with every mistake including the championship result.
The worst call is when Harris didn't get ejected when he ripped the sask players helmet off at the Banjo Bowl. The entire country was pissed about that lol
No player has ever been ejected for yanking off another player's helmet unless a punch has been thrown. It's not an ejectable infraction.
It happened again in the following game between Calgary and Edmonton and just a 15 yard penalty was assessed. Fans didn't whine either and call for an ejection as the Rider fans did.
thats not an ejection. but missing the punch thrown by leonard to harris' un protected head would qualify .
@@rijobaabojir2779 Could fall under rough play as it is stated in the rules but it is up to the refs and they are usually on someone's payroll or simply don't know which way is up. So it is ejectable by rule if they elect to do it.

Before I even start the video I’d this is the pyramiding call ur calling the worst penalty in the cfl then ur definitely a casual football fan u gotta jump on ur own ability using ur own vertical, not giving ur self a boost off teammates

That’s not a stupid penalty guy through our offensive linemen into legghio well after the play
That by definition isn’t roughing the kicker. Hence it being overturned.

the refs made up for this call in the West Final when they allowed an obvious incomplete pass stand for Saskie....
Oh well bombers still won
