so pretty with the snow very relaxing for me. Be safe Kuga
Like a dream. A snowy, tranquil, curious, peaceful, content, beautiful dream. No movie can capture such atmosphere and character. God Bless UA-cam.
It makes me miss the snow country in Japan so much!
A winter wonder land. What a a beautiful place
These winter I need not so heavy winterclothes. A Parka and a hoodie was at the top enough. Greetings from Germany.
I was just thinking about you today. 😊. What a lovely video showcasing the city where the railway is located. All the lovely shops and restaurants that light up at night time along the waterway. So inviting. I can hear the crosswalks beeping to let pedestrians know it's okay to cross. I REALLY LOVE THAT. IT'S GOOD FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED. AND FOR SERVICE ANIMALS TO HELP THEIR MASTERS TO CROSS THE STREETS AS WELL. Very ingenious! The Japanese people are always thinking about the safety of their citizens and visitors. ❤. Such a beautiful place to visit, as is all of Japan, imo. ❤❤.
I think, if I could live anywhere in Japan, Otaru would be my top pick.
Otaru is great! The rickshaw tour, the tour of canal, the food. Thank you for reminding me
The street scenes definitely have a European vibe. You're right in comparing them to Amsterdam. I read that Hokkaido was developed with European and American help in the late Meiji era. Beautiful and peaceful snow scenes! Arigato, Kuga-san.
Russia is close to Hokkiado.
So beautiful, so relaxing. Thank you, Kuga-san!
I love being on the move with you; traveling, seeing new things, experiencing moments. Thanks so much! 🙏🙏🙏
Hello Kon’nichiwa Kuga, if I never get to Japan, at least I can thank you for your videos they are so clear and vibrant. I always feel like I’m walking with you. You take your time filming I get a chance to actually see Japan. Thank you so much.
Very peaceful and calming, saving me tonight from the images of the Ukrainian war, especially the music. Thank you!
Thank you!
My wife and I visited Otaru in early March 2015. There were still some patches of snow left, even though daytime temperatures were above freezing.
I can still remember this quite unique city very well. Especially all the glass lanterns at Otaru station.
As we learned, this city was also famous for it's glass industry.
I think today there are still some small glassworks, selling their mouth-blown glass to tourists.
I hope I can visit Otaru again very soon 😔
Loved going to Otaru while attending Sapporo University. Thank you for sharing the views!
Thank you for this peaceful and serene video, something I need to see on UA-cam during these uncertain and dark times.
Please do more as you have time.
It was very peaceful watching the video. A lovely place and gentle music.
I went there in 2017 Feb - it was snowing - the ice sculptures were amazing - so were the lights - I had matcha ice cream in the snowfall - while going to the train station back to Sapporo - I slipped and fell on the iced road - twice :-p
Nice walking tour of Otaru in Japan. Amazing snowy landscape.
Woow still so much snow 😱❄️❄️❄️ thanks for sharing this with us 🙏 😊 greetings from Austria without any snow at all 🤷🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🇦🇹
Kar, soğuk ama; güzel bir görüntüsü var. Işıkta daha iyi görünen kar. Yakında burada da kar yağışı olacak😯😩
WONDERFUL! One of my favourite towns in Hokkaido! I always look forward to your videos, Kuga!
The canals look so sweet and scenic regardless of the season! 🤩
Awesome night scenery in such a pristine looking setting. You're there in the beautiful cold sniw while we're here in the midst of massive flooding . Such a contrast. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us. Bushyboy Oz.
Oh what a treat!! A new video from Kuga. Having watched your other videos, I recognize certain features, such as the chirping traffic lights :)). And are those walkways heated? They are always snow-free.
You have some of the most serene videos. The water in the canal looks very cold. I'm glad to see you are wearing warm clothing. That snow looked light and fluffy when you picked it up. I see the thermometer said -29C and I think that pretty close to 0F. Brrr. Thank you, Kuga-san for bring this to us.
No, it said - 2.9.
I also though it said -29 at first but that's too low for Hokkaido.
How nice, Kuga! So much snow. Thank you for giving us the feeling of it when you touched it. The historical part was very interesting. It is good that those warehouses have been transformed into restaurants and souvenir shops, instead of being demolished. The channel looks so beautiful and peaceful at night. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Take care! 🤗
What a lovely landscape, and nice music choice!
I wait to watch these to calm me down before bed. After all the war stuff in Ukraine it puts my mind in a better place to see a world far removed from there. Thanks for sharing it.
Gosh, does the snow ever melt in the spring? That is incredible!
Thank you again for another beautiful video! I like your walking tours as much as your train rides and ferry rides.
If I ever make it to Japan, I will bring you lots of maple syrup from Canada as a way of saying thank you for your hard work. :-)
but leave Justin behind

Спасибо за простые видео.
Нет рекламы, нет туристов. Все интересно и легко .
Качество видео отличное .
Я рада, что нашла ваш канал 🙏
Thank you for the peaceful ending to my day. Pleasant dreams, Kuga 🛌🌛❄
Another peaceful video to help us relieve a little stress. Beautiful music too.
Woow, there's still a lot of snow. Thanks for sharing this with us. Greetings from Austria, where there's no snow at all.
you must be hot ! thoughts from france ! ;-)
There is a lot of snow because it is in Hokkaido, well north of Japan and because the images are from February 23, 2022 (it is written at the beginning of the video, bottom left)
Actually, this is the first time in a few years that Hokkaido received blizzard snow.
It was worse than three years ago.
One of the bad ones, it was snowing so hard that visibility was hard, trains around Hokkaido got shut down, and schools were closed for about two days, which rarely happens here.
Thank you Mr. Kuga! ♥️
I love Otaru, it's possibly my favourite place in Hokkaido.
Thanks for the reminder 👍
Beautiful city, clear and drivable but yet the snow is kept beautiful and pristine. I want to go there.
I had been to Otaru twice, once in summer and another time in spring. I'd like to visit it again in winter and autumn.
Thanks for showing us Otaru in winter time - really beautiful.
very calming place..no loud noise..
Thanks for another pretty view of snow, from here in California where we would be happy just for some rain now. Stay warm!
Grazie per i suoi video, è come essere li in Giappone - Thanks for your videos, it's like being there in Japan - あなたのビデオをありがとう、それは日本にいるようなものです - I hope the translator is correct
Welcome to winterland, ほんとにどうもありがとうともだち.
Very well done Kuga! You really know how to capture a moment photographically. Your choice on what to edit or not to edit is pro quo. Thank you.
Ooohiloooove Sapporo otaru hokaidoooo!! I will definitely go Back there!! Greetings from Cairns far north Queensland Australia as!!!
Charming little area ❤
I love Otaru. 💘 I miss Otaru. The Snow Light Path festival was the most beautiful. And very crowded too.
Sure is beautiful in winter!
I have been to Otaru twice and this video has made me remember how happy I have been there. Dear Kuga, this is without a doubt one of your best videos. Thanks buddy, geetings from Shanghai
This video really brought back memories. I had a really nice experience in Otaru a few years ago. I met my boyfriend in Japan, and we decided to go to the Sapporo Snow Festival; the busiest time and this was pre-pandemic. All the hotels and even hostels were booked for that festival weekend, so we took a chance and decided to car camp...in February...one of the coldest months 😅. Anyways, we went to the snow festival and it was just lovely, and the food was amazing. My favourite though, was when we decided to drive to Otaru! At night time, it was beautiful! There were ice sculptures that were lit up along the canal. We had ice cream despite the weather being freezing, and we tried the famous Hokkaido cheesecake from LeTAO! I'll never forget that time, and your video brought back warm memories. Thank you ☺!
Thank you for another beautiful adventure.
That’s a LOT of snow. Would love to see this town in summer ☀️
Thank you Kuga a great escape
Wondering where you have been, spring is almost here, at least your snow looks clean and the KFC guy is cool looking, where I am at that would have walked off, Amsterdam is a wonderful place, one little snow man and snow ball, thanks for the walk 🐧
I visited Otaru around this time of year in 2019 and it's as beautiful as I remembered it. There are a few breweries along the canal and I got to try some local craft beers. Can't wait to go back ☺
The canal night view is calming…
I’ve said it before but going to see Japan when it’s snowing would be so cool
Snow is so cool i have never seen snow in real life.
Thank you your visiting!
I went here Feb 2020 its a beautiful town I love walking by the water seeing big ships my favorite place was the Music box shop regret not buying one. Loved afternoon tea at Tao cake so good had two .I will go again beautiful place just cold but so pretty .
This was lovely - thank you. I really like how snow is handled in Japan. In Philadelphia we salt the sidewalks to death and have icy spots still. It looks like there are heated sidewalks in some places and then just compacted snow elsewhere? How does that work?
Some businesses have heated sidewalks or parking (gas stations commonly do). Snow is usually plowed to the side and later picked up with loaders and trucks and hauled to dump sites. This year there's been so much snow that the city hasn't been able to keep up. I also heard the city had reduced the snow removal budget which has compounded their troubles.
The main roads have been difficult to keep clear. Go into the neighborhoods and it's nuts how much snow is piled up.
@@massiveheadwoundharry6833 that's pretty neat. Bet that takes some planning and coordination when mapping out buildings and walkways with construction. Wish they would do the same for the panicky western washingtonians --once they see a single snowflake, they just panick. Lol
I love your work, Kuga. Your pacing, cinematography, and subject selection are perfect. Just as if I'd been there and made my own video to show back home.
Thank you Kuga, very cool!
just great !!!! as always !!
It’s funny, I live close to the Delaware River and there’s a canal that runs along it that hasn’t been used in well over 100 years but now the path that runs along it is a walking path. People come from all over to enjoy the river and canals
Happy to see again 😄
Thanks Kuga🤗
Glad to see you and yours are okay after the quake.
So comfy.
Beautyfull as always but minus 29* is hard to bear ! I would think that you are waiting impatiently for spring
beautiful video
Your videos are so calming. Love it! Thank you!
What confuses me about this town, apart from some billboard signs, this could be easily anywhere in northern europe. Can someone tell me why I get this impression? 😅 But yeah, still a nice place.
buildings are not the same at all
Im from Tartu in Estonia. Looks a little like my hometown in winter with same fluffy snow )))
Thanks for the nice video 😊👍
It's a beautiful town and _almost_ tranquil, but I think those chirping crosswalks would eventually drive me insane. :)
I really enjoy your videos!
Ok.😀 otaru fishing port n glass industry.!!
I wouldn’t mind visiting Hokkaido looks not as congested unlike Tokyo but before I visit I must first win the lottery for Japan is very expensive to visit for both short and longer visits.
i love japan
So beautiful! What is the bird/alarm sound in the video? Love the snow and the video! Thank you.
Great video
Get some Zangi. So good!
When I lived in the western hemisphere I used to go to Montreal for two weeks every winter just to sit in coffee shops and write and watch the snowy city go by all day long. There were many cultural outlets like art museums and symphony performances, but mostly the appeal was just being in a smart, cosmopolitan city in the wintertime.
Now that I live in Cambodia, I have two friends from Japan. One of them says that Sapporo will be perfect for this, and the other thinks that I will find it a much less interesting city -- not so much like Montreal and more like Buffalo New York or something. Do you have an opinion?
Music Box Museum. Bought several music boxes there.
wow -29°C ?! That's crazy
I miss this place! :'(
-29° C = -20° F 🥶
Hey that's Colonel Sanders not Mr Sanders! lol
I've been there.
I just heard about the earthquake there. I’m in southeast United States. I hope you will all be safe.
hello sir give us a tour on niseko in japan
Hi Kuga, I do hope everything is alright?
Looks so sad... This is a place a lot of Niseko skiers will stop by before or after their ski trip, now is just dead and empty despite in the middle of peak ski season
Triple point of water
Beautiful, but I am a summer man. haha
👍
I HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES ARE OKAY FROM THE BIG EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN! I JUST READ ABOUT IT!!! 7.4 ON THE RICHTER SCALE, THAT IS BIG! PLEASE BE SAFE! ❤❤❤❤🌸.
👍👍👍👍
