What the tank did at 2:35 was called “milling”, which was a common tactic among German and Russian tankers on the Eastern front. A tank would drive over a foxhole or trench, and would simply rotate on the spot to literally grind and crush the men hiding inside into pulp. Truly horrifying. I’ve never seen this shown in another war movie.
I remember reading somewhere the US buried entire trench lines in Iraq with the soldiers in them. Not sure though if any truth to that, most of them surrendered during the US advance.

It is nice to see the small details that put such movies apart from the Hollywood crap. Like the soldier at the end who risks his life to snatch some Russian felt-lined boots and is just so relieved when they fit. Small things like that were a big part of front soldier's every-day life that we can hardly grasp today.
sacr3 because you do not understand that scene. The idea was that the tank crew wanted to run him over rather than shooting him because it would be a much painful death.
Itiniant Andrei Oh I get it, but that scene was made for the audience, not realism. realistically you could move to the left, or to the right, or towards the tank and simply move left or right. Which soldiers tended to do in such occasions. I'm not doubting occasionally, or maybe even often soldiers were so terrified they didn't think clearly and they stumbled in front of a tank.
sacr3 ahhmmmmm honey? did ya really watch it?? this soldier is wounded. this scene wasn´t made for the audience. that was absolutely realistic and happened extremly often.
My Grandfather who fought on the german side was run over by a russian tank similar to what's happening at 2:40. His comrads were able to dig him out. He was still alive but lived the rest of his life in a wheel chair, barely beeing able to move and speak. Everytime i see this movie it reminds me of it. I remember watching this as a kid. It haunted me for years. So simple, yet so realistic. Infantry trying to fight tanks with whatever means possible and German soldiers being delighted at finding boots that fit from dead enemies. No drama, bullshit and heroic last stands like Hacksaw Ridge and Stalingrad (2013).
I don't think you can compare hacksaw ridge and Stalingrad 2013. The story of Desnond Doss was so incredible they actually removed elements as they didn't think people would believe it. Stalingrad has magical bulletproof fire men......
@@lindagoad2163 Yeah the Stalingrad movie from 2013 is just god awful. It's like "It was so cold in 1942 that the Soviet soldiers literally set themselves on fire just to stay warm." Even Enemy at the Gates is better than that. The movies T-34 (2019) and Panfilov's 28 (2016) are incredibly good. Definitely worth watching for someone interested in Eastern Front history.
Hacksaw Ridge is an awful CGI, i dont even talking about M1 Grease gun that penetrate soldiers and is accurate as a regular rifle, every weapon in this movie push soldiers away like an aircraft mg. But it is not comparable to this... something.
Yossel Rozzy Roz All of the blood must have run out of your brain, the only scene in The Empire Strikes Back that even remotely resembles a 'tank battle' is when the Imperial Walkers attack the rebel base. . . Imperial Walkers don't even come anywhere close to looking like T-34 Russian tanks or any other WW2 tank.
For me this movie is one of the best war movies ever made. It shows the war in all his brutality. It shows the downfall of germans on the eastern front . One of a few war movies which shows the german perspective. I get bored watching the american perspective over and over again with stereotype nazis getting wracked by the allies. last movie "fury" was a good example for a worthless war movie. Stalingrad by the great joseph vilsmeier is on another level.
+Despiser Despised Well actually the french invented movies. Furthermore I've got absolutely no idea what you want to say about socialist countrys but I bet you've got no clue nor knowledge whatsoever about that.
Despiser Despised That is one retarded comment. Movies were invented in France but that doesn't have to mean that the French are going to be the best at producing new movies. Btw that's something a 5th grader should be able to figure out by himself...
Reynaert The Russians lost more men than the British in all of 1916, so much that the Germans were stunned. Not to mention how the Brusilov Offense was more successful than the Somme Offense, shock attacks by Russians while British troops were walking into machine guns (the commanders could be blamed for this).
3.23 most horrible scene.. a soldier cut in half by a tank shell and staying alive screaming for a few seconds before he dies... What an ugly thing war is.
What's so realistic? that the Germans shot down a lot of T-34? In reality, this entire infantry would be destroyed, too many tanks. In Russian films Russian win in the German Germans and Americans in the US.
I am german myself. And no german is a patriot like almost everybody in the US. Everybody sees our past very critical and will never glorify it. Also nobody in germany would watch a pro-nazi movie. It may be true that this scene is rather unrealistic. But if you see the whole movie you wont find amy heroic scenes. No war-glorifying or smth like that.
Саша Питерский Finns destroyed lot of sovet tanks during winter war 1939-40 virtually with no anti-tank guns. If you have good motivation and courage, everything is possible.
I think the African and the eastern were the most important African front allowed for Britain and its allies oil while eastern destroyed the whole bulk of the german army
Jeff Chan The North African campaign was indeed very important, the Afrika Korps was in North Africa for a great reason, and that was, to occupy Egypt and cut off the Suez canal from the Brits thus cutting the supply line from India to UK. Fortunately though, the British/American/Australian victory of the battle of El Alamein prevented the Germans and Italian from reaching anywhere close to the Suez canal. And then the rest is Allied victory.
***** The German High Command always saw every front besides Ostfront as a side show, that was the problem, and that was what killed them. While the Allies saw every front as significant as the other, even the smallest ones.
almighty_luigi germans lost when they ended up fighting British empire USA and Soviets. They could have taken 2 bot 3 unless they were able to defeat Soviets before Americans landed on Europe

Russians made better films in the Soviet era, than they do now... Hot Snow is about the attempted link up of the 6th and 4th Armies. Taken from the point of view of anti tank artillery unit on the Soviet side. It's a bit propagandaish but so are the american films from that era... (unless it's anti war you can say that about almost every war film) The Unit keep firing throughout the attack, which goes for an extended period of time(overnight) the Commander sees their heroic deeds and gives them battlefield on the spot medals, Order of Red Banner I think i recdall. It's a bloody good film and could do with an updated remake with modern SX. Some Tanks look like Models, others I cant make out the model or if they are Tigers they are a years early It's on UA-cam too so look it up...
Are you saying this movie above was made by Russians? Doesn't look like that. Looks like a German fantasy flick. The troops popping out of the wholes in the ground to stick those gizmos to the Russian tanks come straight from Nazi propaganda tapes. This is where the creators of the film above drew their inspiration from. Just peppered in a bit of war body horror to make it look more like Stone's platoon.
Fairly accurate. The anti-tank gunner should have been fired for taking three shots to hit a tank at such close range That German anti-tank gun, the 5cm Pak 38, had an effective range of 1600 yards, but was often used at about 660 yards where it could penetrate the turret armor of a T-34, much farther away than shown here. Also, for a Molotov Cocktail to be effective against a T-34, it should be thrown on the rear engine compartment where the air intakes would bring the fuel in and damage the engine. Where it was done here would only temporarily obscure the sight of the driver and hull gunner. Other than those minor details, this scene does accurately convey the sheer terror an infantryman would feel facing tanks in combat.
The thing is many t-34's weren't welded together very well so there were gaps in the plates, you could just throw a molotov at the side and it could still be destroyed.
There was also the issue of the magnetic mines, both being attached to the transmission cover, hence blowing up the gearbox. This would be a mobility kill at best, but there is almost zero change of the tank exploding afterwards or it even being unable to fire from that kind of damage.
@@builder396 welds and quality control were terrible with Russian tanks and without a turret box live ammo was literally stored in the crew compartment. Very easily spalling from the transmission would either kill/injure the crew or ignite fuel/ammo.
My favourite line in this movie: - "Rollo, Haftladungen!" (Rollo, [give me the] adhesive charges.) - "Viel Spaß..." (Have fun...) It's funny and in the way it portrays the gallows humour of frontline troops (escpecially on this front in this war) it's well fitting.
T-34/76 are rare, and most of them used as static museum/memorial pieces, no working spares etc... The -85 was produced into the 50's, and maintained into the 70's in many armies (some even today), spare parts exist in number, and T-34-85 are widely used for parades, shows, films etc it's a strong machine. Plus, most of the 76 that survived the war were quickly scrapped by the soviets, to make steel, to make new tanks.
to be honest the only realistic movies I've seen about WWII have been German. This and "Das Boot" show realistic events without all the "heroism" embedded in Hollywood/Western movies.
guys we all know that there weren't any T34/85 in stalingrad, yes this is a bis inaccurate, but thats not the point of the scene. The point is the cruelty of war and the emotions all around it. nothing more, nothing less

But he is still a human, don't you see that? Do you also say all those 14-18 year olds deserved to be shot in half, just because they were "Nazis"? Fucking sick mentality, dude.
kakolykia you can`t be a nazi without being member of the nazi party ^^. and the common soldiers just fought for their country, regardless of the side, but I guess you prefer the black and white thinking
In case someone wonders, the reason the tanks didn't do better is because molotov cocktails were surprisingly effective, and they lacked radio communication with each other which meant they were badly coordinated. Also the dialogue is hilarious, at 0:58 the guy says "I look like my grandma". At 1:09 when the guy asks for the grenades the other one goes "here, have fun" 😂
Not to forget the sight optics inside a T34 was beyond horrible, you literally couldn't see shit And here the weather is foggy and not clear which doesn't do it any better
@@nikolajmadum8381 True and in several instances tank crews were sent on the front line with minimal training to fill the gaps left by losses which may also explain such lack of coordination.
one of the most incredible battle scenes in film history I reckon.....again showing how war just reduces man to his base animal instincts. And utterly realistic too. There are accounts in Antony Beevor's "Stalingrad" for example of German soldiers missing limbs who were literally crawling through the snow to get to the last German-held airfield.
one of my grandfathers was in stalingrad. he fought for third reich, but he was a nice man who loved his family. and did u know that, when the fighting in the city was paused for a while in the day (or battle took a brake... dunno what to call it) both german and russian soldiers shared their food and ate together... sounds paradox, but happened. i guess that dont fit in the usual picture of the germans and russians, which are both are always seen as evil. peace out and hope that germans and russians will get back to their good relationship since putin came in charge.

THis is one of the best combat scenes of movie history. THese guys were well and truly seasoned by this time and took on these tanks in a desperate but believable battle. Favourite (if you can use this word) THe PAK taking out several T34's the last at near point blank, the soldier that gets hit by Russian cannon fire and cut in half, he lives for a few more seconds in absolute terror. The T34 that runs over the first fox whole and then goes back and forth to ensure he's squashed the German soldier. I would loved to have read a story of the 5000 that returned.THe ones that lived through the battle and then 10 years in the Gulags. Some would of been lonely outsiders like Paulus, others truly amazing stories of survival.
I always find that scene at 3:19 unintentionally hilarious. You know the soldier was cut in half by the tank round. But because the actor's legs were buried in the snow, he can't bend or drop and he just dies in place.
But that actually happened. The Forsaken Army, first published in 1957, written about the 6th army encircled at Stalingrad. In it, there's an eyewitness report of how a german soldier was blown in half and screaming just like that, before his head just dropped and he died, propped up like. This movie doesn't even come close to the horror of what it was really like, but I think whoever filmed it, read the right books.

The Germans didn't halt their advance. Hitler just sent a contingent to North Africa to show his support to his Italian ally. If the Germans had finished off Great Britain at the start of the war, they wouldn't have had to fight a war on two fronts. Without the British isles as a base to build up their second front, the Americans would have had to operate all the way from the continental US of A. Hitler could have neutralized Great Britain if he hadn't wasted resources on building a handful of 'pocket battleships' (Graf Spee, Bismarck, Tirpitz...). If he had built hundreds of U-boats, he could have isolated the British untill their supplies and fuel ran out. Then they would have had to sue for peace and they would have become a German protectorate.
eh, and how do you think they could have landed on the british isles? The british Navy was thrice as strong as the german Navy, not counting all the french and benelux ships. Also the brits had thrice the aircrafts than Germany. It was not even a contest at the beginnning of the war. Only later, around 41-42 the Germans had used their economic power to catch up and tried to win air superiority against britain to finally land on their mainland... see "Luftschlacht um England". Yes they could have won later, if they had not engaged in war with the Soviets.

about the question," why did they miss"? 1. because the director of the film wanted it that way 2. the closer your target comes the greater their angular speed. If you watch a plane high up in the sky you can easily follow it looking through a tube f.i., try doing the same thing as the plane flies at a height of 100m at the same speed, you will have to be very, very quick. With a gun that means adjusting very quickly and maybe even having to move the gun in its whole because of the limited horizontal firing arc. 3. the human factor: tired, ill fed, scared shitless, frozen, nervous and full of adrenaline..
3:55 my mind when this scene plays out "Holy heck, that is totally unrealistic. A tank cant be that bad thats mf invincible T-34." *reads about T-34* "Holy heck, who would drive this freakin coffin!" *know hows Soviet's industry work at the time* "Okay then."
Military casualties of Germany and their allies were about 9 million and those of the USSR were about 11 million soldiers killed. And there is an explanation for that: the germans were fighting from the soviet border up to Moscow and the russians had to fight from Moscow to the soviet border and then from the soviet border on - through the half of Europe to Berlin. Which means we russians were conducting more offensive operations and thus suffering more military casualties. Anyway, I am a russian man whose two grandfathers got killed in WWII, and I still respect german people and feel sorry for those young germans who lost their lives in that war. I think germans are a noble nation and hope we will never fight each other again.

Excellent movie, with intense battle scenes. The fact that infantry had to take on tanks with little more than improvised and handheld shaped charges speaks to their incredible bravery and resourcefulness. The Wehrmacht of WW2 was, on a man-for-man basis, superior to its contemporaries not because of their Aryan race, or other such stupidity - it was because their tactics were flexible, and because their unit cohesion was superior, with soldiers in units who had known each other a long time.
When you remember the Germans took out 28,000 Soviet tanks in the first year of the war alone, the figure out 68,000 seems more plausible. Most early wartime T-34's were for all intents and purposes deaf and blind because they lacked a dedicated commander(so the gunner doesn't have his next target chosen when he fires) or a radio. There's also the fact that attack planes and artillery were killing them quite easily, and then you have the bloody toll the Panthers and Tigers took.
And Italian army and Bulgarian army ... at that time many people in Leningrad died from starvation, all Siberian reserves were brought to Stalingrad to cut spine to nazis. Khrushchev commanded that. Read Tanya Savicheva diary to understand the price of war, it wasn’t one day battle by far ...
@Henry Staggs If this loss would have been significant for them, they would have stopped Operation Barbarossa. Because the SU was considered the bigger threat.
dachicagoan The whole point of every trap is to lure and exterminate the opponent. The element of surprise to confuse the enemy combined with the enemy's uncertainty regarding the exact location of those firing on them contributes to success at minimal loss of life. Running around to lure a superior force to the exact location of shallow foxholes defeats the whole purpose of setting a trap or even dressing in white uniforms.
you don't see this sort of thing in hollywood movies like fury, why can't american war movies be realistic, it seems they can't make a film without turning it too bullshit?
Because the american movies always have to be patriotic and heroic. Wasnt there like a dicussion about fury too because a german soldier didnt shoot at an pow but the americans did ?
Katamari Roller Not patriotic or heroic ? One american mowing down masses of german soldiers that cant hit a barn... Let me guess, thats realistic, since the germans were widely known for being innefective in combat (not)
LOL60345 At no point in the movie is it even hinted that they are fighting for anything higher than their own survival, so no patriotism. And the last stand is just dumb. There is no reason for them to do it. It could be argued it was heroic because of, oh, about four seconds´ worth of movie (literally) where it is hinted at that the crossroads is important. Four seconds I honestly forgot about even before the movie was over. Note that this crossroads was not so important that the Shermans had the infantry with them during or after the Tiger fight. In neither Fury nor Stalingrad are the Germans, the Russians or the Americans shown as being competent.
Kevin Wu Of course, loads of T-34-85s were still operational untill the 1990s in Yugoslavia. The T-34(-76) proved to be not good enough with its small boat-like turret that could only house 2 men, commander and loader. So the commander had to double as gunner as well. So... no T-34(-76)s left because most or all were converted to T-34-85s while the rest were destroyed in combat or scrapped.
Kristjan Žigart Thanks for the info. I just looked it up on Wiki. The film "Stalingrad (1993)" was filmed on location in Finland, Italy and Czechoslovakia. So my guess is they didn't have sufficient number of running T-34s (early model) to appear in the film. So they had to make do with the T-34-85.
This movie is fkn insane... imagine what it was like IRL, trying to reload a gun, prick a grenade, spark a bomb, range a shot, whilst your hands are frozen and your eyes are blind. Respect to all fallen soldiers.
the tanks back then weren't as sealed up as the ones nowadays so it was possible to take one out with a Molotov cocktail if it hits sometime that will go boom when heated up. fuel, ammo or a poorly maintained engine.
if you throw a milotov cocktail over the engie small burning fragments of gas can fall thro the slits and overheat an blow it up or as you see he threw it right into the fron the fire spreads into the slits of driver and radio oparatior an can go thro the slit who conects the turret to the body
Actually, as I understand it, the T-34 has extra external fuel tanks that are designed to blow away when ignited, thus sparing the crew from the massive explosion. Even then, they weren't actually connected directly to the fuel line until the T54/55. On another note, they used diesel, which wasn't as easily ignited. The only real explanation would be if the gasoline dripped into the crew compartment via the turret mount or the observation slits and and cooked the ammo into exploding. Or, it managed to get through the air intake, burn through the air filter, then burn/cut through the fuel line, which even then would only cut off the fuel supply as there wouldn't be any air in the fuel line for the diesel to burn, given the flame of the Molotov using all the oxygen. Slightly unrealistic, but possible. Finally, Aldrigas, they can burn through THIN metal at best, but not the 20-50mm armor that the tank carries. Best bet would be improper seals in the turret mount. Google explains all things for the patient and willing

There is no glory to war in this movie, unlike 95% of war movies. It's still one of my favourites.
What is the title of the movie?
i believe this movie is actually produced by germany...glorifying this part of their history is very very unlikely.
But it is not comparable to this... something.
"I remember watching this as a kid. It haunted me for years." I subscribe every sillable
In English they said.."Shoot that big guy"..so he could get a pair of warm boots that would fit...LOL
This was always my favorite scene in Empire Strikes back.
Yossel Rozzy Roz You are crazy.
Lab Rat Why? Star wars is a good franchise.
Yossel Rozzy Roz
Clown brain, there never was a tank battle scene in The Empire Strikes Back you dumb wizard!
Lab Rat Wut? Yeah there was. Watch the video, jeez.
Yossel Rozzy Roz
All of the blood must have run out of your brain, the only scene in The Empire Strikes Back that even remotely resembles a 'tank battle' is when the Imperial Walkers attack the rebel base. .
Despiser Despised Typical right winged bullshit. You haven't even got any facts that back you up but you spread your propaganda nonetheless.
Despiser Despised That is one retarded comment. Movies were invented in France but that doesn't have to mean that the French are going to be the best at producing new movies. Btw that's something a 5th grader should be able to figure out by himself...
Phelan It fuckin is! One can be educated without having had the best government founded education system.
Phelan Of course no 10 year old. I meant as an adult.
War is hell, especially on the Eastern Front.
Every war is equally hell
the Eastern Front of any war has generally been horrible. Napoleon's Invasions, WW1, WW2
WW1? More blood was spilled on French and Belgium soil than any other country, especially the Russians that pulled out because of Lenin.
Reynaert The Russians lost more men than the British in all of 1916, so much that the Germans were stunned. Not to mention how the Brusilov Offense was more successful than the Somme Offense, shock attacks by Russians while British troops were walking into machine guns (the commanders could be blamed for this).
USSR - nazis Germany casualties 1.2-1
3.23 most horrible scene.. a soldier cut in half by a tank shell and staying alive screaming for a few seconds before he dies... What an ugly thing war is.

Germans always do realistic warfilms. There is nothing romantic or heroic like in american warfilms. Why is so?
What's so realistic? that the Germans shot down a lot of T-34? In reality, this entire infantry would be destroyed, too many tanks. In Russian films Russian win in the German Germans and Americans in the US.
I am german myself. And no german is a patriot like almost everybody in the US. Everybody sees our past very critical and will never glorify it. Also nobody in germany would watch a pro-nazi movie. It may be true that this scene is rather unrealistic. But if you see the whole movie you wont find amy heroic scenes. No war-glorifying or smth like that.
Yes, I agree.
Саша Питерский Finns destroyed lot of sovet tanks during winter war 1939-40 virtually with no anti-tank guns. If you have good motivation and courage, everything is possible.
subrosa
Yeah. Finns love freedom so much that we are willing to do anything for it. We are small but very patriotic nation.
When the Russian soldier says Pomogite, He is saying “HELP”
Compared to all other theatres of war, Far East, Europe , Pacific, North Africa etc etc this was where the war was won and lost.
All fronts were win or lose.
I think the African and the eastern were the most important
African front allowed for Britain and its allies oil
while eastern destroyed the whole bulk of the german army

During the battle of Berlin a few days before the end of the war, the French soldiers of the division Waffen SS "Charlemagne" destroyed 64 tanks T-34 in two days, only with "Panzerfaust"... And that, it is the reality.

true
John Bertrand I was going to comment the same thing about the anti-tank gunners. Missing in a pre-prepared position is highly unlikely.
The thing is many t-34's weren't welded together very well so there were gaps in the plates, you could just throw a molotov at the side and it could still be destroyed.
Exactly like MKC said. These tanks were made shit, with gaps as big as some rivers, the coktail could easyly flow in
There was also the issue of the magnetic mines, both being attached to the transmission cover, hence blowing up the gearbox.
My favourite line in this movie:
- "Rollo, Haftladungen!" (Rollo, [give me the] adhesive charges.)
- "Viel Spaß..." (Have fun...)
It's funny and in the way it portrays the gallows humour of frontline troops (escpecially on this front in this war) it's well fitting.

Objectivebitter Yeah they couldn't find any good working T-34/76 for the movie.
I'm waiting for the Feminazi adaptation of this movie.
NotObjective Well I’m sure they could’ve temporarily replaced the turrets with 76mm ones.
@@theorangeofallahpbuh1840
I assume they could not find the 76mm gun and turret either.
@@artificialintelligence8328 I think it's more of them not putting work into changing the look of a artifact because it would be a shit ton of work, though it is true that they had a good amount of budget so it is probably them not finding the 76mm... Who knows
There's something so hypnotic about the column of tanks moving past in the background at the begining.
Shows very well how this firefight is just a smaller part of a much larger battle fought off-screen.
those are t34/85s which weren't in use at time when battle of Stalingrad took place , at that time Russians used t34/76
Which are way harder to come by, since the 85 was still produced after the war.

Soviet and german movies about ww2 are the best
In case someone wonders, the reason the tanks didn't do better is because molotov cocktails were surprisingly effective, and they lacked radio communication with each other which meant they were badly coordinated.
Also the dialogue is hilarious, at 0:58 the guy says "I look like my grandma". At 1:09 when the guy asks for the grenades the other one goes
"here, have fun" 😂
Not to forget the sight optics inside a T34 was beyond horrible, you literally couldn't see shit
And here the weather is foggy and not clear which doesn't do it any better
@@nikolajmadum8381 True and in several instances tank crews were sent on the front line with minimal training to fill the gaps left by losses which may also explain such lack of coordination.
Yes, you can see that these tanks spotted the AT gun only at the end because of bad vision.
one of the most incredible battle scenes in film history I reckon.....again showing how war just reduces man to his base animal instincts. And utterly realistic too. There are accounts in Antony Beevor's "Stalingrad" for example of German soldiers missing limbs who were literally crawling through the snow to get to the last German-held airfield.
one of my grandfathers was in stalingrad. he fought for third reich, but he was a nice man who loved his family.
and did u know that, when the fighting in the city was paused for a while in the day (or battle took a brake... dunno what to call it) both german and russian soldiers shared their food and ate together... sounds paradox, but happened.
i guess that dont fit in the usual picture of the germans and russians, which are both are always seen as evil.
peace out
and hope that germans and russians will get back to their good relationship since putin came in charge.

One of the best WWII movies of all time. It's refreshing to see the German perspective for a change

Hard to imagine being in the infantry and fighting tanks as they roll over your position. Yet many a soldier did. Amazing...
The eastern front was such a tragedy and costly, nearly 40 million human beings lost their lives there.

You know the soldier was cut in half by the tank round.
But because the actor's legs were buried in the snow, he can't bend or drop and he just dies in place.
they were limited by the technology of their time.
His legs were lying a few feet behind him actually
It happened. So cold their blood and entrails froze in place keeping them upright.

Italy lost Germany the war, if only they'd stay put and not had to have Germany halt their advance to save them
The Germans didn't halt their advance.
Not only that but Goering's empty promises of securing Britain via the air was a disaster as he gave up every time he was about to win.
eh, and how do you think they could have landed on the british isles? The british Navy was thrice as strong as the german Navy, not counting all the french and benelux ships. Also the brits had thrice the aircrafts than Germany. It was not even a contest at the beginnning of the war. Only later, around 41-42 the Germans had used their economic power to catch up and tried to win air superiority against britain to finally land on their mainland... see "Luftschlacht um England".
Yes they could have won later, if they had not engaged in war with the Soviets.

about the question," why did they miss"?
1. because the director of the film wanted it that way
2. the closer your target comes the greater their angular speed.
I would say 3. It is after all the Strafbat. So there isn't much hope left on them.

Pretty much cemented the fact that this is a war movie...a proper war movie.

The battle of Stalingrad killed the German mentality of invincibility.

Because the SU was considered the bigger threat.
battle of hoth
Funny enough the general on ground in Stalingrad relieving army was General Hoth. :)
Best warmovie ever, no romantic herononsence. Just meaningless killing
That guy running back in forth at the start didn't help thing out.
dachicagoan The whole point of every trap is to lure and exterminate the opponent.

WAR IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!
The best Stalingrad movie!
you don't see this sort of thing in hollywood movies like fury, why can't american war movies be realistic, it seems they can't make a film without turning it too bullshit?
Because the american movies always have to be patriotic and heroic. Wasnt there like a dicussion about fury too because a german soldier didnt shoot at an pow but the americans did ?
What the hell are you two talking about?
Fury was not patriotic or heroic, and there is absolutely no realism in this scene from Stalingrad.
Katamari Roller Not patriotic or heroic ? One american mowing down masses of german soldiers that cant hit a barn... Let me guess, thats realistic, since the germans were widely known for being innefective in combat (not)
LOL60345
At no point in the movie is it even hinted that they are fighting for anything higher than their own survival, so no patriotism.
Katamari Roller you my friend are a fucking idiot, no realizem in the stalingrad movie?

Those are T-34-85s. A later version of the T-34
Some of them look like t-34-76 to me...
Hello brother!
We are many of the doge family.
Wow...feels like I was there

Battle of Hoth: R Rated edition!
4:19 It certainly took some balls to shoot this scene.
Just Imagine having that 20 ton monster roll on top of you.
This movie is fkn insane... imagine what it was like IRL, trying to reload a gun, prick a grenade, spark a bomb, range a shot, whilst your hands are frozen and your eyes are blind. Respect to all fallen soldiers.
I loved this movie

How did he take out the tank with the Molotov cocktail?????????
engine blockkkkkkk
the tanks back then weren't as sealed up as the ones nowadays so it was possible to take one out with a Molotov cocktail if it hits sometime that will go boom when heated up. fuel, ammo or a poorly maintained engine.
if you throw a milotov cocktail over the engie small burning fragments of gas can fall thro the slits and overheat an blow it up or as you see he threw it right into the fron the fire spreads into the slits of driver and radio oparatior an can go thro the slit who conects the turret to the body
Real molotovs can burn trough metal. That's how you take those tanks out. Now this is highly unrealistic battle
