Hopefully it’s Layton in the bottom this week! He dances on stage for a living and teaches dance classes. I know it’s been said before but Layton’s routine was straight out of a Sam Smith concert. Nigel put his heart and soul into this quickstep. It’s the old Hollywood glamour that he adores and nods to here. Hopefully the public get behind Nigel. It seems the judges are tinkering with the leaderboard due to inconsistencies with scoring. I’m sure James Jordan will have plenty to say on Strictly the Truth on Monday evening 🫣

I was so surprised at how lowly this was scored, the standard was so high tonight!! He may end up in the Dance Off this time but honestly I think if hes against Angela R he will be saved (no hate on Angela) 😊 This was amazing!
This dance was superb in every way: technique - solo parts as well as those in hold - difficulty of routine, the performance, the chemistry with Katya, and the costumes and set. It looked like a proper Quickstep; they flew across the floor. I didn't notice the couple of small mistakes until the judges pointed them out, and even then ...! Kevin pointed out on SITT tonight that it was more a case that Nigel got out of sync with Katya than making any actual footwork errors. In any case, Nigel recovered very well, as Shirley pointed out on Saturday. It was a 10 from me, but I'll accept 4 9s or 2 8s and 2 9s, certainly not a 7! The errors did not detract from a very impressive dance. Looking at the scores for the other dances, it was worth far more than 31 and I can't believe it only got 3 points more than Angela R and Kai's dance! I think there needs to be specific marking criteria if there isn't already and it needs to be made transparent to the public. I suggest the score out of 10 is an average of scores for the following criteria: Technique and accuracy of footwork, Complexity of routine, Performance factor and chemistry with partner. It's not right to deduct too many points for one or the same mistake. Craig also deducted 3 points for Bobby's 'spatulistic' hands in week 8 - he had no other criticism and there was so much good about that dance. There are dances that have mistakes in them that are great and dances with no mistakes that are lacking. Kevin said as much on SITT last week. Thid week's dance-off was a classic case of the public voting to save Nigel for fear of him losing to Angela R on just 3 points' difference. So, whilst those at the top of the leaderboard were safe, those in the middle weren't and Bobby fell victim. Not a lot of fun for him, but better to have a celebrity with a much higher score going up against Angela R, than the risk of losing a fantastic dancer like Nigel, whose dance deserved to be scored much higher than 31 to her 28!
As I remarked elsewhere before the result, the public will be the judges with this one and so it proved. Perhaps Craig could kindly bring himself to give this outstanding couple more than an 8 at some point. I absolutely LOVED this routine.
Score - *8/10* The judges seemed to have a problem with his bottom half i had a problem with his top half, Nigel still needs to strengthen his frame and his facial expression in the corner made him look abit lost, he was concentrating top hard I think. Everything out of hold was incredible and for most of it, incredible in hold too, his swing and Jazz finesse really comes out in this dance and it's amazing. I loved the middle section and I did think it was a great dance drowned out in a very strong night, it's a shame he always makes a mistake, I know that he is capable of a 10 for sure, I hope they aren't in the bottom two tomorrow but it'll be a close call for sure

I love Angela R - but tonight nothing really happened - just a bit flat - not enough for Blackpool! Annabel - fine! Layton - meh ... lost interest many weeks ago!

This was great I do feel he might be in the dance off because it's so difficult to call who will be in there with Angela R but either way this was great yes a few tiny mistakes but they didn't warrant 3 points taken away 9/10
Tiny mistakes and yet it needed pointing out well not just pointing out because all they kept saying was mistakes mistakes mistakes and mistakes then undermarked they are looking for any excuse to get rid of him.
So not only was it an amazing dance, but it was a crisp and cool theatrical performance! Katya really made Nigel the star. This is where he belongs! Seven? Absolutely not. Should have at least one 9.
I need them to point out the mistakes on It Takes Two because I’ve watched it back 5 times and honestly can’t see it. Other couples definitely made mistakes and went out of time etc. Perhaps the angle shown on tv hid the mistakes that they could see from the judges desk? 🤷♀️
And last but certainly not least is Nigel and Katya dancing the Quickstep. very classical, loved the song and the get up, Nige's frame was a bit stiff, shoulders were up during the end of the dance and it seemed by the end of the dance the dance ran away from him and I feel that is when he started to make mistakes, the beginning was good and I thought it was his best dance to date, well done Nigel and Katya Queen of choreography as always.
The judges feedback over mistakes was out of proportion I didn't even see a mistake the way each went on you'd think he tripped himself and all the dances up. Undermarked, overly criticised but isn't that what they always do to him. Unfair targeted weekly attacks towards him and reminders him of his mistakes, he look so broken tonight. You can't compare the professional standard of starboy Layton to him it's unfair, I won't be watching next year it's all fixed.
Yeah, towards the last half there were some errors and they were noticeable. So sad because the overall look and feel of this dance was excellent. He still should be very proud
A very clever routine, an excellent music choice, gorgeous Katya. The opening was a tribute to Danny Mac, but unfortunately Nigel lacked Danny's dancing talent and made a mistake. Still, a very enjoyable number. And did I say that Katya was gorgeous?

Amazing how you all seem to know better than the professional judges as to what is and isn’t a good performance. Could it be that they are looking at technique rather than just voting for their favourite celebrity. You really all should give it a rest and let the experts do what they do, after all your unqualified opinions will have the final say. This isn’t a dance contest , its a popularity contest.
Nigel got saved because the judges criticised his dance for the mistakes, & people felt sorry for him. If not he could have been in the dance off. He was saved, he should be pleased-not behaving like a sulky teenager, he's not the first to be criticised! And take note Katja... NIGEL IS NOT JOE!! If Nigel is making mistakes, stop making the dances so complicated with loads of difficult choreography & get a fab dance done beautifully. She was the same with Adam Peaty. Some people thrive under pressure, others don't, so im afraid the buck stops with Katja. 🤷♀️
This quickstep wasn’t even 100% in hold . It can’t get more simpler . Nigel should be putting more hours in training instead of finishing at five. Katya’s duffers on the other hand managed to do good quicksteps without mistakes . Mike in particular was really good .
Honestly I think I would rather Angela scanlon make the final than him at this point, he was given a fantastic routine that he should have been able to pull off and it just felt flat, also if anyone else had behaved that way after the judging (especially any of the women or Layton) there would be much wider condemnation
6/10 As the judges picked up on there was a few mistakes which he did pick up well from and keep going, but my main problem with this dance was his frame, I felt as if it was quite loose and wobbly and he just needs to strengthen it a bit more, I feel bad for him he was gutted but he can come back stronger tonight just wasn’t his night.
Tired of this poor Nigel rubbish. He had a great dance, a great position in the running order, great theme and great song/styling but he failed to pull it off. Its not the judges fault. If anything I've learned from this show is that its audience love to hype up a mediocre white man.
nothing about this dance warranted the low scores it got. one small mistake that shirley admitted he covered up well, and picked back up quickly.. and it's an 8? and a 7?? multiple mistakes? where? absolute nonsense. and its not just about this week, they have been on him every week. last week's dance was flawless to quite literally everyone and somehow it was only two 8s and two 9s..??

I agree. I think he looked a bit stiff and tense up top. Getting anxious maybe as you can see how much it means to him.

Tiny mistakes and yet it needed pointing out well not just pointing out because all they kept saying was mistakes mistakes mistakes and mistakes then undermarked they are looking for any excuse to get rid of him.

So not only was it an amazing dance, but it was a crisp and cool theatrical performance! Katya really made Nigel the star. This is where he belongs! Seven? Absolutely not. Should have at least one 9.

I need them to point out the mistakes on It Takes Two because I’ve watched it back 5 times and honestly can’t see it. Other couples definitely made mistakes and went out of time etc. Perhaps the angle shown on tv hid the mistakes that they could see from the judges desk? 🤷♀️

And last but certainly not least is Nigel and Katya dancing the Quickstep.
very classical, loved the song and the get up, Nige's frame was a bit stiff, shoulders were up during the end of the dance and it seemed by the end of the dance the dance ran away from him and I feel that is when he started to make mistakes, the beginning was good and I thought it was his best dance to date, well done Nigel and Katya Queen of choreography as always.

The judges feedback over mistakes was out of proportion I didn't even see a mistake the way each went on you'd think he tripped himself and all the dances up. Undermarked, overly criticised but isn't that what they always do to him. Unfair targeted weekly attacks towards him and reminders him of his mistakes, he look so broken tonight. You can't compare the professional standard of starboy Layton to him it's unfair, I won't be watching next year it's all fixed.
Nigel is always under marked. He is a true leading man ! 👋👋

Yeah, towards the last half there were some errors and they were noticeable. So sad because the overall look and feel of this dance was excellent. He still should be very proud

A very clever routine, an excellent music choice, gorgeous Katya. The opening was a tribute to Danny Mac, but unfortunately Nigel lacked Danny's dancing talent and made a mistake. Still, a very enjoyable number. And did I say that Katya was gorgeous?
I don't think it was a tribute to Danny Mac, more a rip off! Danny was a fabulous dancer, think Katja pushing him a bit too much? 🤔

I wish the vocalist would sing a beat quicker to this song it felt laggy for them to dance too i liked the dance tbh its a great quickstep song hes a nice singer but it felt a touch reserved

Looks like a Rippon and Harman dance off.Hes not done well with the judges most weeks.
I think they’ll be in the dance off. I hope Angela goes, she made mistakes last week and they sent Krishnan home instead, and they’re never going to give her a fast dance

Amazing how you all seem to know better than the professional judges as to what is and isn’t a good performance. Could it be that they are looking at technique rather than just voting for their favourite celebrity. You really all should give it a rest and let the experts do what they do, after all your unqualified opinions will have the final say. This isn’t a dance contest , its a popularity contest.

Nigel got saved because the judges criticised his dance for the mistakes, & people felt sorry for him. If not he could have been in the dance off. He was saved, he should be pleased-not behaving like a sulky teenager, he's not the first to be criticised! And take note Katja... NIGEL IS NOT JOE!! If Nigel is making mistakes, stop making the dances so complicated with loads of difficult choreography & get a fab dance done beautifully. She was the same with Adam Peaty.
Some people thrive under pressure, others don't, so im afraid the buck stops with Katja. 🤷♀️
This quickstep wasn’t even 100% in hold . It can’t get more simpler . Nigel should be putting more hours in training instead of finishing at five. Katya’s duffers on the other hand managed to do good quicksteps without mistakes . Mike in particular was really good .
Honestly I think I would rather Angela scanlon make the final than him at this point, he was given a fantastic routine that he should have been able to pull off and it just felt flat, also if anyone else had behaved that way after the judging (especially any of the women or Layton) there would be much wider condemnation

As the judges picked up on there was a few mistakes which he did pick up well from and keep going, but my main problem with this dance was his frame, I felt as if it was quite loose and wobbly and he just needs to strengthen it a bit more, I feel bad for him he was gutted but he can come back stronger tonight just wasn’t his night.

He had a great dance, a great position in the running order, great theme and great song/styling but he failed to pull it off. Its not the judges fault.
If anything I've learned from this show is that its audience love to hype up a mediocre white man.
nothing about this dance warranted the low scores it got. one small mistake that shirley admitted he covered up well, and picked back up quickly.. and it's an 8? and a 7?? multiple mistakes? where? absolute nonsense. and its not just about this week, they have been on him every week. last week's dance was flawless to quite literally everyone and somehow it was only two 8s and two 9s..??

So much this he was given everything this week / also really didn’t appreciate his reaction afterwards and if Layton had done that he would be being severely punished by certain factions of the strictly fan base
