I think what I love most about this video is hearing Laura celebrate her sisters space. Laura has acres and acres of land. And yet she stands in awe of how beautiful her sisters small space is going to be. Very generous love, Laura.
Yes, the perk of having Laura as a sister is you get great free stuff. Lol
That’s kind of an odd way to look at it. Bigger doesn’t equal better. A well designed space, regardless of size, can be beautiful and inspiring
Space appears larger because scale was maneuvered with different levels..created dimension... It's no longer just flat space
for a californian who can barely get a patio let alone a backyard. her sister has an amazing backyard space ! Laura's almost seems like a park to me !
I love this little series because it is closer to what, I assume, a majority of viewers can accomplish in their own gardens. Your acres of land are gorgeous, for sure, and I love watching them develop, but this shows people with a modest spaced yard what they can do to make their own sanctuary. ❤ It’s going to be beautiful.
Hard scape is a game changer. Dramatic difference right here. It’s a big investment, but it changes everything about the space - how it’s used, the feeling presented, and how it contributes to the beauty of the house. Just beautiful.
Her garden is looking so good! Thank you for showing us the progress in a smaller backyard that's more relatable to some of us. It's super helpful and inspiring!
The stone wall adds so much interest to the garden. Love the curve leading up to the patio. You can tell how thrilled Monica is with her garden sanctuary!
Monica, seeing those rocks in that corner had all the fountain vibes. Like a natural waterfall into a tiny wildlife pond. 😊
My thought too when I saw the pile! 👌💕
That would be cool a water feature.
I think Laura knows a guy that could hook you up Monica 😉😂
Yes, thought so also.
Love the idea of a water feature! Beautiful already in its be beginning stages!❤️❤️❤️
So sweet. Monica’s excitement is palpable. What a wonderful team of sisters.
Don't you just love Monica's graciousness and gratitude? Such a beautiful soul ❤
❤ I agree she definitely has a beautiful soul.
Monica could benefit from one of those auto mowers you and Aaron tried out a few years ago. She has a small enough space for it. I think what you guys have done to her back yard is AWESOME!! I know Monica will enjoy it, but I too am waiting to enjoy it in a finished video!!
Alnwick is pronounced “Anick” , named after Alnwick castle owned by the Duke of Northumberland ( the Percy family ). The Duke and his Duchess have created beautiful gardens that hopefully one day you and your family may have the opportunity of visiting.
I love seeing you working together with your family , making lasting memories.
I feel sorry for Americans and British names, I am in the UK and there always seems to be a new name to learn, where it is not prounced phonetically (as you hope it would be).
Laura, I think it requires a field trip to Alnwick Castle so that we can thoroughly investigate.🌺🏰🏰
So exciting for Monica and her husband! Also, excellent job Pedro and crew!
So proud for Monica, the whole place is just a sanctuary. I know you will enjoy the peace for many years to come.
Well done. One of the best yard transformations. Please do followups, would love to watch the area develop over the next year or two. Really a good job guys!
Agree and yes, I too would love to see updates as the yard fills in and matures!
Ok, we are going to need REGULAR updates on Monica's garden now. Everything you two are putting in is so beautiful!!!
I’m loving this space. What a difference the stone walls / beds make. To me, making the most of a space is a sign of a truly gift landscaper / gardener. This is a great example!
Monica, I feel the same excitement at the idea of a Hoselink! Also, what a crazy difference tiering makes! Great job!
Monica is such a sweet and grateful soul! It is easy to see how much creativity runs in your family. Can’t wait to see the finished product, it’s going to be gorgeous.❣️🌸🍃🌺🌿🌲
Monica has such a gentle spirit about her. Their garden and landscape will make their property come alive.
So happy for her and hubby.
It's amazing how much bigger her yard is looking already. It's amazing what designing your space wisely can do. ❤
To see two sisters working together and so excited about a project for one of them makes my heart so happy! 😊If only all families worked like this one-such a blessing to witness❤
This project is amazing. I hope you will do updates so we can see the progress.
Can not wait to see this project completed,
the plants growing and blooming.
Laura is an inspiration.
I can't wait to see Monica's finished garden! The stone wall is a work of art!
Love this so much! Makes it so special because we all feel like we know Monica and love her. It is going to be gorgeous!
Sisters that bonk their heads together, stay together! Excellent choice to do the stone wall. Always amazes me how many different plants can be put in a smaller space and look awesome! Those Concord barberries take zero attention, which is great because they are prickly, are drought tolerant, but they bring a nice dark colour to the garden!
Thanks for sharing Monica's space.
Always sweet to see Monica & her backyard plan is wonderful! The stonework is a work of art & (as you would say) romances the ordinary! Very useful use of the space. A true pleasure garden. It's sure to be the envy of the neighborhood!
I'm so happy for Monica and Nick! Their backyard is beginning to take shape and I'm looking forward to seeing the raised beds go in. A question for Laura - How come you don't look like a hot mess after a day of work? I am quite the sight after working outside for the day.
Do we get to meet Nick? He sounds like another great family member we haven't met.
Oh Monica it looks beautiful, so exciting! I'm so happy for you. So fun watching you both , can't wait to see more. Enjoy and have a wonderful day! Thanks for the video!
Laura, I’m so proud of you and Monica. It may sound trite, but it’s so fantastic to see women doing what was considered man’s work during my generation. I love watching your channel and can’t wait to see what summer brings.
I am so invested in how this lilac will develop. Please give us updates as it grows.
Good Morning! 🌞I love the way things are shaping up! In the end Monica & Nick's backyard is going to be gorgeous! 🥰🌿🌳🙌💚
One of my favorite things to do is shopping for plants and planting up new plants with my sister. Best friends for life. ❤
I want that wall!! Such architectural interest and great backdrop for plantings. The workers did a beautiful installation ❤
❤️ WOW, this is beautiful!! I can’t wait to see this space when the plants all grow and of course I know you will show all of us when it is all done. Love it all!! ❤
And we hope for at least annual updates.
I would be in the back yard all the time now it is going to be beautiful your sister is so fortunate to have your help with this project just an amazing difference
Another beautiful project. You two are a good team! Can't wait to go back next year and see how it's grown.
You've really turned it into a living space. I hope you show us how to prune the lilac into an arch.
Dang, you look at that soil and think, nothing could possibly grow in that! Love the rock work. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product and an update later in the season.
Absolutely gorgeous Monica 🌹
So nice to see Monica so excited! A new garden holds so many possibilities and the chance to watch all your plant babies grow is a wonderfully exciting time. I’m sure she and Nick will want to spend as much time as possible in their new garden.
Monica and Laura working together on Monica's landscape!! Shaping into a beautiful and comfortable outside area to enjoy!!
I love this project! I have a much smaller yard than Monica, but seeing what she’s having planted, knowing it’s for a smaller space, is giving me lots of inspiration! Sometimes I pick things up that Laura has thinking I’ve got the same acreage as she does, only to later have to find a family member to gift it to 😂 🤷🏽♀️ c’est la vie!
I've enjoyed this series the most because she has an average size backyard like most of us, and it allows me to see realistically the possibilities for my own backyard.
As a Southeasterner, I marvel at your ability to use those massive augers in your soil. I'm 6'2" 220lbs and if I tried to get one 1/2 that diameter into our rocky red clay soil, I'm 100% sure I would need reconstructive shoulder surgery within about 3 holes.
If you read a title of the video and your heart skips a beat with excitement, you might be a Garden Answer fan!! 😂 Such a HUGE difference!! Love it!! ❤
You’ve created so much character in this space! When those trees mature, this garden will be a show stopper. I love how cozy it feels already. The step down is my favorite. The view from the patio is so lovely with the rock walls curving. I love this transformation!
What a special retreat this will be in the evenings and on weekends! This is such a great sister project to watch it develop and the memories you will share as it grows. You are both very blessed to have those times.
They have added several more rooms to their new home. It’s so beautiful and you’re not even finished!
It was helpful to see a typical blank slate yard take shape. Most of us just don't have the know-how or confidence to tackle something like this. Watching Monica's yard take shape from literally dirt gives us noobs who want to transform our own yards some real useful ideas about how to go about fixing up a smaller space.
Laura, your channel has really helped me so much, I can hardly put into words the encouragement I receive from your videos. I have very windy conditions so planning a landscape that will work with that wind is crucial. Also, I don't have any family to plant together, plan together, have fun together. However, watching you and Monica work together makes me happy and actually all of your family working together makes me smile. So thanks for sharing your home , your entire family, and mostly your superb knowledge. I can say you and your channel has had a big impact upon me. 🤩👋🙏👍
Laura, your such a sweet sister to do this for Monica. 💕 It looks so beautiful. 💕Looking forward to seeing the end result.
I love seeing sisters working together so sweetly. I know Monica loves to cook...it would be fun to see her fix a recipe with ingredients from her garden! 💖
What a happy project! LOL on that arbor..."That was a bugger."
Monica’s backyard is really coming into its own quickly. Love the Japanese maples. Beautiful!
Can't wait for Nick to see everything you and Monica did today. It was so fun to see you both so excited and hear both of you in conversation. Such a nice relationship. Also a shout out to Pedro and his crew - awesome job. Loved the video.
Oh my goodness it's looking so very beautiful. Lot's of hard good work. I'm so very happy for Monica and her husband. Can't wait to see Monica's yard whe it's all done. You 2 girls remind me and my sister, she's to years older than me and we both are retired and we have always loved to work out in our yards and we help each other in our flower garden's. I'm so very excited for Monica, she deserves this so much. 2 sister's so sweet.❤❤
What a change from what it was! Monica is so blessed to have Laura for a sister but I'm sure she'd do well with the planning herself! Can't wait to see the progress here and at their mom's yard!
Oh my goodness, Laura, this is one of your very best videos ever! I just can't even imagine how much your parents must love seeing the two of you together living out their gardening dreams! Monica and Nick's yard is going to be such a beautiful showplace. This project is awesome in every way❣️ Linda
Laura, you get the Best Big Sister award. I recall you mentioning in several videos that you're not a landscape planner, but I don't know about that, this space is inspiring! I'm so happy for Monica and her family. I really enjoy your family project collaborations. Can't wait to watch Monica's garden develop over time.
It is pronounced 'Annick'. They've actually stopped selling that Rose :( I live in Newcastle, about 40 mins from Alnwick. There's a castle and beautiful garden with a Poison Garden. It's also the castle they used as Hogwarts. :)
Very cool!
It's a real treat to see your sisters garden here on UA-cam.
Good morning 🌄 from Maryland. I love to watch the transformation of Monica's landscape.
I love seeing Monica and Nick's backyard coming together. The rock wall really does change the space in such a lovely way. This really inspires me and gives me ideas for my own yard. Good size but mostly a blank space. Seeing the back bed helped me so much! Thank you!
For someone who doesn’t like designing gardens for other people you sure have taken on some terrific projects this spring! It’s been so fun to watch the transformation.
Oh and when planting in a new construction like Monica’s we can really get a feel for your high desert terrain. Like dust!
I LOVE Monica's "secret garden" back yard. You two are quite the team. Please give us updates in the fall and next spring.
I love Monica. She's so sweet. I loved your oouing and ahhing together. You guys are cute. Wishing you all the best in your new garden Monicas!
I got all excited seeing the stones in the corner thinking there was a pond going in. The yard is really shaping up. Love the stone work.
So enjoyable to see how a smaller yard can have multiple facets and spaces.
Aren’t you girls lucky to have each other to bounce ideas off of! Think this garden space will turn out just beautiful, so many great touches all over. Look forward to seeing the completed project and to watch it grow!
Oh my gosh this is such a beautiful place. My backyard is about the same size and I love watching this series thanks Monica for letting Laura show this process to us ❤
THE POWER OF LOVE!!!
💖💖🌞🌻🌞💖💖
This is going to be such a beautiful garden. It's great that you can turn a smaller back yard into a space with a yard, beds for flowers, and a raised bed veggie garden. Talk about maximizing your space!
Maybe Nick and Monica would like to consider a stone corner wall fountain behind the big tree in the southwest corner of their beautiful new backyard. The leftover stones that are sitting there right now look very nice and tie the stone look from the walls to that back corner.
So excited for Monica and Nick to have that space to relax. It'll attract so many birds and pollinators for them to watch at work.
Monica we are so excited for you and your husband’s beautiful yard. Thank you Laura for taking us along. ❤
I love everything! Can’t wait to see the completed project. I love when you do these types of projects - great job!!
What a beautiful transformation. . Sisters working together...priceless. 🥰
You ladies are true artist. I love everything about this project. The trees are absolutely gorgeous! Of course, I’ve never met an arbor I didn’t like or a Rose for that matter. That stone wall adds so much character to the entire backyard and is spectacular! Bravo to all of you! 👏👏👏🎉
It's going to be so cosy!! Great job girls! Pedro sure is going to have to hire some help as I think his marketing just went up several notches, thanks to Laura singing his praises & displaying his praises 😊😊😊 The stonework is excellent!
Morning Everyone 🥰
So nice to see how well Laura and Monica get along.. If that was my sister and I, one of us would be on the way to the ER with a shovel where the sun dont shine
You two are doing a great job on Monica's yard! You are very lucky to have each other. 😊
The stonework, the plantings and some lush green grass will make for a glorious setting to relax in. So fun to watch you both together working this project, sisters don't always see eye to eye but you both seem to enjoy working together, not only here but at the garden center as well. Love watching this coming together 🌱🥀💮🌻
Seeing a project like this is so helpful. I usually lean toward a more "balanced" design and your explanation of what the garden will be later was really helpful. You are so blessed to have each other.
It's good to see your sister excitement! 🎉😅
So happy for Monica & Nick! With each passing season, this design will become more and more beautiful as the plants become established in their new homes and thrive! I love that Monica considered how the garden will look in the evening with a drift of David phlox.
I know you and your family are so happy to have Monica and her family move to Ontario.
Monica works in a garden center and she has access to everything beautiful! Her parents and sister’s garden as we all know is amazing! To pick and choose plants for her own yard and to stick to them without gettin distracted must NOT be easy! Kudos to you and nick for knowing what exactly what YOU both want ❤️ Cannot wait to see how this space looks few years from now. Most of us actually have spaces like this! Thank you so much for sharing this. Very very helpful! Encouraging And doable!
Monica's yard work would make a perfect DIY video from start to finish. Great job ladies!! Perhaps is the perception looking at that wall towards the end; but, it looks to me that those arborvitaes should have been planted 12 more inches away from the fence. Excited to see the end result.🌿☘🌾🍁
I love how it’s coming along! I also love how Monica decided to do the living hedge! Love love love it!
You and your sister are so cute! You talk exactly the same! I’m really loving seeing this space come together. I need a Laura in my life! ❤
Thank you Monica for sharing your personal space with us. So much inspiration really appreciate it 😊
I love Monica's yard and the different areas. I love the arbor and the boxwoods. Her yard gives me ideas on what I could do with mine. A smaller space can be really beautiful and interesting!
At some point, during COVID restrictions, I tripped over a video of you putting together a Christmas village-type decoration project for your parent's storefront. I loved the postivitity and creativity of your presentation so I subscribed. I utterly lost interest in our garden for a couple of years however I have been thoroughly entertatined with your posts. We just got back from dropping over $400 at our local garden centre entirely credit to your inspiring and educational videos. Thanks for putting a spring back in my gardening step!
Love Monica! She reminds me so much of her mom. Really enjoyed watching you guys work together today. Gorgeous yard! Very inspiring. Blessings.
So happy for Monica! She is a sweetheart! It will be a beautiful backyard garden!
That pile of stone in the corner would influence me to build a waterfall there🥰
what an amazing transformation ... trees & shrubs & plants, oh my !!!! only one thing missing - a fountain ???? I imagine sitting on the patio enjoy a cocktail and/or a meal, see all the green (and otherwise) things growing around you and having the soothing sound of trickling water in the background - an oasis for sure. Well done you two - well done 😁
What a lovely design. And how much bigger the garden looks now the stonework is in place. Hope Monica and her husband will have many happy hours spent in this garden. 👏🧑🌾🤗
