This game solidified him as the GOAT. Heck the entire 1993 season (all the way through the Super Bowl) proved why he was the best. Rushing title, MVP, Super Bowl MVP

Cmt did a series on how hard and physical therapy it was to make the cheerleading squad for the Dallas cowboys it was the most degrading thing I ever seen it would literally make the players look and act to the point I don't think the coaching staff was as cruel as this cream I mean I still have nightmares over that cut gd get a heart pleasr

I was cheering for the Giants. I knew he was hurt when he hit the turf. Blew my mind. He won a lot of fans that day.

Hated the Cowboys…but that right there is old school, tough as hell, mad respect, PRO effort. That’s why he’s a HOFer.

    Emmitt Smith
    - 32 carries for 168 rushing yards
    - 10 receptions for 61 receiving yards with 1 receiving TD
    - 42 touches for 229 total yards from scrimmage with 1 total TD
This performance signifies the greatness of Emmitt Smith playing with one separated shoulder and a broken arm carrying the Dallas Cowboys team on his back. Not only did he play through the pain but he lead them through victory in spite of the pain. An indomitable will to succeed against all odds beating the New York Giants in the Giants Stadium goes beyond inspirational because this became simply incredible. It catapulted him to a repeat as back to back Super Bowl Champions in 1992-1993 along with the Super Bowl MVP in 1993, NFL MVP in 1993 and his third consecutive rushing title in a row from 1991-1993. Remember this was all accomplished in 1993 and the Dallas Cowboys became the only team to win a Super Bowl having a 0-2 record in 1993 to start the season. No other NFL team has ever done that since then and all because of the intestinal fortitude and determination of Emmitt Smith since his return to the lineup the record was 15-2 winning it all including the NFC East Division Title. Emmitt Smith played with heart showing his true character as a leader that should never be questioned because of his desire. Knowing what was truly at stake he put the entire team on himself and found a way to win a game that was crucial of this magnitude with everything on the line. When opponents respect you for playing hurt and still can run through a defense while walking wounded? You're definitely a more dangerous individual that is a dominating threat deserving of all the accolades as a winner sacrificing himself for the betterment and the greater good of his comrades. Emmitt Smith is worthy of all these things because he has proved without a doubt when the chips are down and you need a big play? Even though defenses know that the ball is coming to Emmitt Smith. Still, he won't stopped and he won't be denied; neither because of his intense passion and formidable attitude of perseverance that makes him a complete all around football player. To be the best you have to beat the best and Emmitt Smith has definitely done that owning the NFL's all time rushing leader with rushing TD's and most carries along with consecutive rushing seasons and most 100 rushing yard games. Not to mention that his postseason records carry him as an elite echelon caliber that no other running back has ever done. Therefore the foregone conclusion to this summary is that Emmitt Smith is completely underrated and underappreciated because of his workhorse mindset to grind out tough yards wearing out the defenses constantly being able to set up his blocks with such patience, extraordinary peripheral vision, being the best downhill runner after the cut, possessing a change of pace with deceptive quickness and elusiveness of speed, having great breakaway strength to accumulate yards after contact, being able to run over, through, by and around you if need be, runs between the tackles while stiff arming defenders gaining the necessary yards to sustain drives. An excellent run and pass blocker that picks up the blitzes for his quarterback Troy Aikman being a multidimensional threat who is a proficient receiver out of the backfield having no weaknesses to his game. His durability, longevity, consistency and productivity will always set him apart from the rest being physically and mentally tough as well. Emmitt Smith made his teammates along with the offensive line better and not the other way around. His accomplishments and prowess has shown that he is the epitome of what real class and sportsmanship is all about. A non flashy superstar having great substance that can perform in the clutch when it really matters the most. That is why there will never be a better all purpose running back like Emmitt Smith in the history of the NFL. The numbers say it all at the end of the day whether you like him or not.

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan all of my life. But I can separate greatness after the game. From John Riggins, what Emmitt did here, and my old time favorite, the Kevin Winslow, playing with two dislocated shoulders. San Diego vs Miami

He was a damn fool, neither the team or the NFL cares about E.S or any other player, they are used up and discarded when they cannot longer perform

Before Enmitt's injury occurred Dallas was on the way to waxing the Giants like they had at midseason in Dallas(31-9). Total domination up to that point. But it turned into one of those nail biters(ones that often favored the underdog Giants). Probably still winning handily if not for the mis- fielded punt ( ball bounced and hit Kevin Smith) that officially flipped the game towards the possibility of an upset. But Cowboys kept their poise, Emmitt gutted it out, and Eddie Money Murray kicked the GW in OT to propel us to the Division Title #1 seed. The road back to the SB otherwise would've been considerably more difficult. It's been said that without a bye the following week, Emmitt likely couldn't have played. But 4 weeks after the injury, he wins the SB MVP and hardly showing any indication he'd been hurt earlier in the same month

I’d say he definitely made more of the shoulder injury than was actually there. He didn’t seem to show any ill affects in the playoffs. Also he was caught on camera getting off the plane for the SuperBowl telling one of the employees that he wanted his golf clubs brought to the hotel. Do people recovering from a separated shoulder go golfing?

Allen Iverson once played games in the NBA with a separated shoulder you can still use that arm but have to tolerate the pain. Iverson had to dribble the ball not absorb hits maybe doesn't hurt as much but harder to dribble effectively I think
