This strikes home with me - My middle-aged brother is mentally ill, up and down, delusions and very violent at times. My mother, bless her, just always hopes it will be better.
Pays off debts, gets him houses (which he eventually trashes and my parents clean up and sell). I've been afraid of exactly this for decades - he has basically destroyed our family. It is such a challenge to try to help the mentally ill without letting them killing you and others.

This guy is being honest and speaking the truth about a common issue. There are some mom's who will defend their son at any cost even when they are wrong. It's not done out of a negative place. Often to protect them or show them support in their time of difficulties, but they fail to also hold them accountable for their actions. A lot of people have dealt with similar situations of a problematic family member who isn't held accountable. However at the end of the day the outcome in this situation is only the suspects fault.

Im a mother but I would not defend a monster regardless of the struggles you gotta try to help your child but im pretty sure she didn’t care or gave up !
