learned this whole section in 20minutes compaed to my prof's lecture.. of 2 hrs
youtube had a note that youtube links from other websites were not working for a few days for some reason, but are fixed now, so i guess that was the problem. the website should be ok now! hope things are ok in singapore!! ( ps i would looooove to visit! : ) )
@patrickJMT haha, not what I meant. I'm planning on spending about 8 hours total today studying alongside your videos. So to be clear, it does NOT suck! Just admiring good penmanship
@ismekin yup
@Childsd glad the rest of it what i have sucks
Everything about regarding and surrounding Mr. Patricks videos are amazing, only reason im passing engineering calculus. Thank you :)
dont know what the problem is... the website is up and running to me?!?! : )
You Are Awewsome, after taking advance math classes (500 math classes) now I understand calculus
Please come as a math professor in our college
Fxy is calculated by taking the derivative of fx with respect to y. Fx= sin(y). Thus Fxy(The derivative of x with respect to y)= cos(y)*1. Fxy=cos(y)
Really Great Video, thank you so much bro !
@patrickJMT I love your sense of humor.
YOU ARE A GOD seriously my calc prof isn't even this clear thank you!
thanks!! : )
D(x,y)=0 iff the quadratic form associated with the Hessian is 0; thus, Hf(a) is called semi-definite, and the point a is degenerate. The second derivative test gives no results, so the only way to determine if a is a local max/min or saddle point is to investigate the sign of f(x)-f(a) in the neighborhood of a. hope this helps.
thank u man this is very helpful especialy for students like me that do not go to their courses!!
yep! if ya get the basics, the rest is easier
: )
I don't understand why Calculus teachers can't teach like you. Don't know why they makes things so complicated, yet you make it seem so simple =\
excellent mate!
thanks alot! btw do you have any videos about absolute maxima and minima on closed bounded regions?
good job very helpful!
Does this work for functions with more than two variables?
Yo quick question how do you know how many critical points you're supposed to get cuz that always confused me . thanks love your work
great video
Patrick, is there is a similarly general way to optimize a function of more than 2 variables? Or would I have to use a computer?
What happens if D>0 and fxx=0
i think that means inflection point
@ismekin yea that would be using lagrange multipliers
patrickJMT So to find the critical points you must set each partial equal to zero then plug the values you find into the other partial equation set equal to zero?
viva austin!
If you check first for your partial with respect to y, you'll find that either x=0, or cosy=0.. so y=npi/2... why not consider that?
Ok stupid question...@ 2:30 when you say siny=0, so y=npi. In addition to being an integer, why can't y also be 0 since sin(0)=0?
sorry, im a little bit noobies here, is this still the 2nd partial derivative test or method using lagrange multiplier?
What happens when you have a function of n variables, where n > 2 ?
Thanks.
Hi Patrick, how do you get the fxy=cos(y)?
Thanks
In fxy, we are taking derivative of fx with respect to y
Why no product rule?
hey can you do this question
3xy^2=2z^3+2y+5
i need to find gradient determind the critical points and sketch the curve
what if D = 0, I know then I can't use the 2nd derivatives test so what do i do?
You have really good handwriting. That is all.
What happens when D(x,y) = 0?
Ah! I see . Thank you :)
How we calculating the Fxy?????
In fxy, we are taking derivative of fx with respect to y
What happens if D=0 ???
it mean that is inconclusive at point (a,b) and we must try other ways at (a,b)
BLACK WATER thanks 🙏🏻!
its called semi-definite
I love you more than my self 😩💘
Only Jesus saves. Though patrickJMT is extraordinary :)
i dont get this. -__- im stupid
Oh calculus oh calculus
Go to hell...
They're advertising female cycle control drugs on your videos.
