This scene was really important. They confirmed that Tony gave Rhodes the suit on purpose and just pretended like he didn't want to give it to Rhodes.
Now I remember from Iron Man 1 when Rhodes told him "you owe me a plane" after the dogfight against the F-22s

Gonna be honest and just say that I miss the earlier days of the MCU. Back when the public in the world were freaking out about the idea of mechanical advancements, oncoming threats, and potential alternate worlds. It just seemed more fresh and had this cool sci fi atmosphere. Its spun out into a lot of different genres now which is awesome, but these early days will always be some of the greatest
Yea and even though the stakes weren’t as big the tone felt more serious in my opinion not as many little jokes every 5 secs earlier movies feel like from a different universe honestly lol
Things have gotten too convoluted and plausibility is long gone..they never should have gone the multiverse route....works in comics..not in big screen

I think my favorite part of iron man's suits in these movies is how mechanical everything is. Every step has weight, movements are accompanied by that nice whirring, and the overall aesthetic keeps you constantly aware that this is a hero's machine. The nanotech stuff lacks all of that...

The concept of the nanotech suit in IW and Endgame is cool, but i could never get over how glaringly obvious the CGI was, it never even looked remotely real in my opinion. This scene is probably where his suit looked the coolest, the lighting, scratches, paint chips, and finger prints all make it look incredibly real. I'm sure he actually used a practical suit for this and only some parts are filled in with CGI which makes it so great. The nano suit never got close to how cool this looks.

parts where he doesn't do crazy stuff are full CG with his Head comped in if he had his helmet removed. Also the Visual effects house had a reference of the suit in real life and how it would react to light so that is a advantage to the Visual effects house(s) working in IR1,2 and 3
IW and EG didn't feel real because we(the audience) don't really feel the weight of the suit therefore our brains automatically think that the nano suit fake eventhough it is rendered using a more advanced render engine with better lighting.

I think he is thinking about letting Rhodey be the next Ironman after his incoming death just like in the comics. After all, the initial plot would be like the "Devil in a bottle" storyline. Tony is deep into his drinking problems and Rhodey took the mantle of Ironman for a while. There is an alternate opening for this movie. Tony is having the mother of all hangovers and is vomiting in the toilet of the plane. Pepper is there supporting and pushing him to continue the Stark Expo opening. Then that opening got scrapped and the plot changed from alcoholism to blood poisoning from palladium. You can find that opening here on YT.

Yeah, don't you think it was suspicious that he desperately needed someone to take over the Iron Man mantle and Rhodey, the ONLY person he trusted was goaded into a fight, at a birthday party Tony expressly didn't want to attend, where Tony acts like an ass and Rhodey defeats Tony in front of witness and "steals" the suit in front of witnesses, thus establishing himself as the new Iron Man, so that there's fewer questions after Tony is dead and gone? Cuz yeah, that blew my mind a bit, lol! The whole thing was a set up man. Tony wanted Rhodey to replace him.

I kind of miss when Stark looked like he was wearing a legitimate suit of armor. It had the weight, the feel, and even the sound whenever it was on-screen. Nowadays, it looks much more obviously like CGI. Something about his suits in modern Marvel films just doesn't have what it used to have.

Yea it had a robotic-like sound whenever he moves it was so cool. And now in IW his suit just feels cartoony and lazy.
James Brendan I think the reason why, or at least partly why, is because his suits become less and less "robotic" and more organic. In Infinity War, it's almost like his skin; it's super sleek, doesn't require hydraulics to move, and it no longer has as much connection to reality and forces our minds to realize it's fake. Older suits still felt like they could be "real", or at least possible, but these newer ones are basically impossible, breaking our suspension of disbelief.
Dante Diep That’s a reason I much prefer the older suits compared to IW’s. No connection to reality or to its previous films. Like, for example, in IM3 or Age Of Ultron’s Hulkbuster, we see the parts coming together and connecting mechanically to become THE SUIT. In IW though, the thing just DOES it magically, and it even form shields and swords... I mean, he’s Iron Man, but now he’s more like Magic Man to be honest.
James Brendan Yeahhh, though it would make sense for his suits to grow a little more on the fictitious side since they're getting more advanced/fighting against stronger foes. Perhaps a quick shot upclose of those nano bots doing their thing would've grounded them a bit more. Like the hulk buster coming together.

I really miss the more grounded times of the MCU. Times were they had only a specific number of heroes and magical elements and were able to realistically spun it into our world. Now they threw everything together making world-building and immersion/suspension of disbelief suffer in the process.
