Ordered three Arlo Pro 3s with flood lights prior to watching this. I Immediately tried to cancel but because I ordered from Best Buy, no order can be canceled after 30 minutes of placing the order. Thus, I will return to Best Buy upon receipt. I'm sold on most other features but no way am I paying $50 each for a cord that costs Arlo less than a buck. I was looking for an outdoor camera to keep an eye on my dogs in the yard when I'm not home. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe Tried a different one that was absolutely terrible, so I got these instead. They work perfectly! With 3 of these cameras I can see every corner of the yard, and they were very easy to set up. The best part is I only get the footage I want to see, not hours of videos of the bird feeder swaying in the breeze.
Great video. I've been looking for a couple floodlight cams and didn't want to go with Ring. I do have a couple questions if you don't mind: 1. You mention that Arlo cams "are a bit sluggish." I don't have any Arlo cams so this comment concerned me. My question is around the notifications. When you get the motion notification on your phone for this camera and click on it, does the video start right up? Or does it buffer for a few seconds so by the time the vid starts, the person is gone? 2. Can you use the existing wireless charging cable you use for your other Arlo cams? Or do you need to purchase a totally separate one for this one? 3. Lastly, is this compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant? Thanks again for such a great video! Seriously considering pulling the trigger on this cam based on your review.

Just got mine setup and on the charger… not the magnet, but the internal charger. Right off the bat I’m annoyed by the following message “The camera and light are disabled while charging, and will not respond to mode changes.” “Your camera and light are inactive while the USB Charging Cable or Indoor Magnetic Charging Cable are plugged in. This is because these charging cables are meant for indoor charging only. To use the floodlight, record audio, and record video while your camera charges, you must use an Outdoor Magnetic Charging Cable or Arlo Solar Panel.”
Brilliant video Steve! I am hearing impaired and the subtitles are a bonus. Your speech is so clear! I shared your "How do a charge this thing" experience! Not sure your video answered my reason for looking at it! What deters an intruder during the daytime - for example does the floodlight come on and is it easily seen and is the siren loud enough? Your points about the subscription service solved other issues. I really wanted to try the camera as a stand alone free item before deciding if I needed to shell out each month. Unfortunately the device is set up with the expensive subscription in place! On my box it states "2-Way Audio- Hear and speak to visitors clearly with superior audio quality". For both myself and partner (normal hearing) the quality and volume from the new Arlo video doorbell make the product unusable and we are thinking about returning it (and the two Arlo 3 Floodlight Cameras ,plus added solar panels, to the retailer as unfit for purpose. Will email you my doorbell experience!

Pro 4 also came with the correct magnetic charger. Albeit a short one. But it's with my 3 pack I got a couple of years ago. The "spotlight" on the pros however are pretty bad. I went by your channel some years ago along with another, but you were my final deciding factor in choosing the pro 4 over the 5 and that spotlight on it is terrible. Maybe in a city where you guys have loads of ambient lighting from living on top of each other it is fine. But when you're genuinely out under the stars surrounded by wilderness, it's pretty bad to the fault that it is almost pointless. The Camera will pick up movement, animals people etc far sooner than the light turns. You have to be maybe 10-15ft away for it to trigger. I wonder how well this spotlight does with irl comparison. The battery is not too terrible. It lasted from beginning of Autumn, to almost the beginning of spring. Which is fine because it gave enough time to melt the snow before I had to trek out and pull down a camera and attach the charging cable. Probably gonna get the solar panel for this purpose. Snow was about 25"s high at a time this year and if we didn't have these random 70+ degree days out of nowhere up in the North East normally it takes until mid April for it all to melt down completely. I may check out this spotlight but if it doesn't work for me I've resigned to the fact that it is way better to have a private server camera, no cloud as to avoid the insane lag that Arlo has. I mean it takes a good 15-30 seconds to register what the camera sees to your phone. That's precious seconds should there be a true emergency. I have these for bears but for security I'd get something else like Vivint or go offline all together and have a private server in your home. More expensive setup but those are far better worth it for security. And get a real damn motion sensor flood and spotlight.
Ohh I forgot to mention until I just saw it in another comment. There is a static noise that seems to be inconsistent but there often enough to be annoying. I've gotten used to it because I'm not really trying to hear a bear fart. But had there been none of that static I probably could hear a bear fart. It is loud enough to distort some activity especially if you're in a populated area and truly need to hear what happened on playback.

I did exactly the same thing I bought the same unit and a Arlo solar panel it was wrong it was a different charging system on the end absolutely drove me crazy
I bought and installed the Arlo Ultra 2 and was happy with it until our first cold day in Wisconsin. The cameras shut themselves down in cold temperatures and come back on when it warms up. They are virtually useless in Wisconsin winters.
Great review. I bought this 8 months ago and freaked out at the lack of a magnetic charging cable too. I felt the money spent more than should have covered the addition on a magnetic charging cable. I broke down after my blood pressure dropped to normal and bought the ARLO magnetic cable and tried to plug the camera into an outlet in my attic full time but the unit wouldn't work. I had to put that outlet on a wall switch and turn it on to charge the camera (doing so makes the camera/ Flood light inoperable), turning the switch off allows the camera to work again but charged up. It's not a very good setup. Does anyone have feedback as to if hooking it to solar power will keep it powered up and working?
I dont have the floodlight but the ultra cameras allow you to create a schedule for armed and disarmed as well as geofencing which will arm your system when your phone gps travels far enough from home
Im replacing an older floodlight with the Arlo 3. The old floodlight has about a 6inch hole where the bracket is attached to my garage. Does arlo sell a bracket that will help attatch the camera and cover the hole?
Don't know if you checked already but you can see what accessories they have for all cameras on their website. I don't know what you're reasoning is behind the 3 choice, but if it's feasible I'd go with the pro 4 because it is 2k, color and night vision. Plus it has 2 sensors and wind cancelling as well as all the other stuff all of the other cameras have.
Great review. I would NEVER buy this camera due to the subscribe-to-unlock business model. Especially since they're holding back critical features like the "advanced AI" needed to differentiate between humans and other things.
Got mine for my bday. Totally upset about the charger. Bought a 8’ usb extension and used a short indoor arlo charger. I got a error code on the app . It said your camera cant be used if it doesnt have a outdoor charger!! Wth 50$ c’mon. Is there another way ?? My indoor magnetic charger is the same as the outdoor one i call bull.

You are correct. The camera becomes almost pointless after the cloud trial is over. Forcing you to either purchase a hub or a subscription. And they seem to be consistent in producing different cameras frequently as if this was apple and they are trying to force an upgrade to the latest and greatest. 🤞🏽 Luckily thus far they have not gone and rendered all older cameras obsolete as of yet with forced updates like Apple does. I don't own any Apple products other than an iPad for reading etc. So this doesn't affect me too bad but I can say that the day that a true techy is able to go through all of the data and actually catch these "updates" and expose this, there's gonna be one hell of a lawsuit. But we're talking about Arlo at the moment and yea you're right.

I love how they just skip the loading of the app onto tge phone and connected device bit. I never got passed that stage, my arlo floodlight pro 3 cannot connect to my wifi router. I've followed all the instructions and been to every support forum, looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. Waste of money- never got mine working. DO NOT BUY!

You constantly complain about the subscription and I don't get it. I would much rather pay a company to keep my privacy vs selling it to make their money like google and amazon. It cost money to run a business if you don't pay for it your information is the commodity. Is that really what you want from your security system?
Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight ..just finishing packing them up and getting a refund ..what a crap model ! Static noise that many people get , poor connection distance compared to my good old PRO 2 cameras. Battery life when connected to new Arlo Solar panels still only ONE week and yes they are positioned correctly and we had lots of Sun , I have gone back to my old PRO 2 Cameras. I know I don't have the light but they just work ! The P2 stay charged up and can have 5 of them connected to my hub with NO ISSUES at all. The only way you would be happy with the PRO 3 Floodlights is to permanently wire them to AC and then just put up with the horrible white static noise that MANY people have complained about. Arlo sort your sh** out !
Can you please explain the solar panel issue (1 week)? I just ordered this floodlight camera and their solar panel. I thought that connecting the solar panel to the camera was a one and done deal for power? Am I mistaken?

Here is real low down on this cam after tons of work on it. Did 3 contacts with arlo. Camera light will only stay on for a few seconds. I don't have a paid subscription but that does not matter. Camera will record longer if you have a subscription but light will only stll stay on for the few seconds. Have many arlo cams and all are faulty. If I did not have so much money in all of them, I would go to a much better brand I have found. Dont waste your money. You can't actually talk to a real person for help at arlo. You get robot answers. Only after typing 3 or more times, want to speak to a real person. Did I get sent a real person through texting. They aren't that helpful. Just reading from a text . No special help. I did learn the above from them though. I have to do remove and reinstall just to keep it working. Have cord he speaks of. Battery life is very short. So I have arlo solar panel connected that at least keeps it charged up.

Arlo solar panel doesn’t work that well.

This camera is crap. Spent hours trying to get it to work. Worked for a bit and now will nor come on
