like $20-25k new for 2 vat fryers depending. like $40-50k new for 5 vat fryers depending. you can buy used ones on ebay for 10-20k or less for 2 vat. just do ebay searches for used prices, and new prices are online if you dig around and read forums people report what they paid. obviously a large chain ordering 20 units of 5 vat is going to get a better price than you. any time a sales person doesn't list prices it means they're going to tailor the price to the customer. that's a red flag of course. and you're not buying a consumer item. this is a business-to-business sale. they're going to feel you out, what you need, etc., and tailor the price for whatever they feel is the upper limit you're willing to pay. a good salesman will find out as much as they can about the customer then quote the highest possible price to not scare them away. pricing is a fine art. every person has a range in their head they're willing to pay and it's the job of the saleman to figure out that range and go to the top of your range. the salesman will want to know what other products you have looked at (their competitors), what your concerns are so they can address them, etc. you sell benefits, not price and not features. teach the customer the benefits of your product and you've got them.
