I'm going to show you how to make bread buns (or pandesal) with mellow pandan and creamy coconut milk. My own Vietnamese ancestry, as well as the heritage of my Filipino friends, have influenced them.
These pillowy soft Pandan Coconut milk bread buns are rich with the flavor and aroma of coconut and pandan! This nostalgic Southeast Asian flavor combination tastes even better hot and fresh from the oven. These soft bread buns are bursting with the flavors and aromas of coconut and pandan! When served hot and fresh from the oven, this nostalgic Southeast Asian flavor combination is even better. The flavors of coconut and pandan together are truly unique to us South Asians.
Pandesal bread buns are best eaten fresh and warm from the hot plate! Combine them with a hot beverage like coffee or hot chocolate for a deliciously cozy breakfast or afternoon snack. Coconut Pandan buns are a delicious, fragrant, and soft snack or tea time treat.
In Filipino, Vietnamese, Malaysian, and Thai cuisines, pandan is a common taste. Fresh pandan leaves can be used to make a pandan extract or paste. Because of their Vietnamese heritage, coconut and pandan are nostalgic flavors. In reality, Banh Mi NgotDua La Dua, or Vietnamese pandan coconut milk bread, is identical to this dish. However, this flavor combination can also be found in Malaysian, Thai, and Filipino food.
Though the terms "buko" and "coconut" are frequently used interchangeably, what Filipinos refer to as "buko" is not the same as the coconut we are familiar with. Buko is a young coconut, also known as a green coconut. Because I don't have access to buko flavoring, I used coconut milk in this recipe to achieve the same flavor for the bread! I

how much flour should I add if I have to use active yeast instead? I realize having that half cup extra of water made the dough incredibly sticky....
If you use active yeast, still use same amount of flour. But the rising time may take longer than using instant yeast! Thanks 😘
