As a teenager in 76 when this was a hit I HATED it and the sound of his voice grated on me. FFW nearly 50 years and 60 yr old me came across the track on a compilation CD. I was about to skip the track but for some reason I decided to give it a listen and WOW I was blown away. First the musicianship and then the terrific vocal performance blew me away. The icing on the cake was just how superb it SOUNDED- The recording and mastering was amazing. I'm constantly amazed at discovering time and again how stupid I was when I was younger!

I kinda liked it in a curious way as a 12year old , I didn't really understand what it was all about but now at 59 I absolutely love it. I saw Andy on stage playing with Roger Waters a few years ago, hes an absolute machine and kinda jokes around with Roger, something none of the floyd could ever dare !

I may be off court, but Andy must be sending a message.
Booze wrecks many family setups and causes severe loneliness, I messed up but beat its bug.
Music like Andy's and others keep the ball rolling. No person is immune, but great riffs ease the stress.

@@paul-ok7uw Yes. Now finding quality music is easier than ever thanks to the internet. When you turn on the radio, you may hear whatever the programmer has decided to broadcast at that particular time. Back in the old days, if you turned on the radio and it wasn't good, you had to seek out good stuff by waiting for the song to change, changing the station, turning off the radio and waiting a bit before turning it back on, looking in the newspaper for gig listings, going to the pub to see if there was a good band on, browsing record stores, asking your friends what was good or what they liked. Much of this still goes on today.

I always loved this song and the musicians who played it! Last night, at my local acoustic club, on of the chaps played it on his guitar and sung it and asked if i'd like to fill in the interlude on my treble recorder. I couldn't remember exactly how it went but made it up as I went along and then played along with the outro, bluesy- jazz style. IT went down a storm!

Just dug out some blue gold - 76s Be Bop N Holla Album....Da Doo Rendezvous with the other-worldy strings and your unique voice is as sublime as the first day I heard it in 76 at 13 yrs age 🙏 * And Be Bop and Holla at the end side 2 with the percussion, keyboard and growling bass superbly mixed by Glyn is the highlight of the album on this barnstormer of a song!

Just reread Diana's story for the umpteenth time and still bawled like a baby at the end.
