    Thanks for the recap Yuenny. Sounds like you had an incredible weekend. Strange that the start was "open-ish". At London, the start was a competitor only fenced off section that contained the bag drop, toilets and starting pens. Waves were called by number and we then shuffled forwards wave by wave. I don't know whether you could have gotten into an earlier wave or not. I don't think I even saw anybody try. Similarly the end was competitor only until after you had collected medal, water, foil blanket and bag. It seemed well organized but it did mean you couldn't actually meet friends and family for about 30 mins. All in all fantastic though. London photos were similarly priced which was a shame - I didn't buy mine either. I know what you mean about the medal. Mine is on my desk and even after a couple of weeks I can't stop holding it. Hope the training for UTS25 is going well. I can't get in unfortunately, but I do hope you will share the experience with us.👍

      Thank you for watching my recap 😊 Yeah, the start waves were a bit all over the place and at Manchester I could've definitely joined in the earlier wave. The bag drop area before the start was also fenced off for runners only but after you walk towards the start line anyone can join that "walk". I didn't need to drop off a bag so I could've just walked to the start line with my supporter on the day rather than splitting up to then be reunited at the start. The medal and t-shirt collection after the finish line was also fenced off when it directs you back to the bag drop area, just not very obvious. Overall it was organised well enough though. Hope London Marathon went well and congratulations! The feel of the medal is so nice even weeks after race day 😊 I'm hoping the UTS25 will go well 🤞🏼 With the various injuries I've had meant that I wasn't able to train properly for this event. The cut-off is 5.5 hours so I really hope I can make it. I'm not too confident though 😕

    Great recap, yes the photos are so expensive, luckily i paid the £25 early offer for mine.

      Thanks 😊 That's a good idea! Good thinking! I never know if there will be any good photos of me so didn't want to commit to buying them in case they aren't good.

    Congratulations on finishing your first marathon. What a feat! I ran my first London Marathon on the 21st and had an absolute blast. Keep on running strong. Cheers from San Francisco 🎉🏅🏅👏

      Hello over there in San Francisco 👋🏻 Well done for completing the London Marathon. I would love to run it one day 🤞🏻 Do you have any other races booked this year?

      @@YuennyLam London Marathon was truly an amazing experience. I would love to run it again someday. My next one is the SF 1st Half marathon in July (did the 2nd Half last year) and probably one local 10K before the year end. My big plan is to run Chicago or Toronto and definitely NYC in 2025.

      @@CatherineSui-Miller I really enjoy Half Marathon and 10K distances. I'm running Chicago this year and I'll keep entering into the ballot for the other majors. Doubt I'll get a place for London so I'll run the Newport Marathon in Wales next April. I really want my next Marathon to go better than my first one has 🤞🏻

      @@YuennyLam Good luck in Chicago. It’s another great course to run in. I thought about Chicago this year but tanked it for 2025 due to scheduling conflicts. With all due respect, I’m not one intentionally chasing 6* Majors. It’s awesome if it happened. I run because I enjoy the sport and keep me sane. There are many other beautiful cities to have a fulfilling run in. Keep up the good work!

      @@CatherineSui-Miller Thank you. I don't think I'll ever be able to finish all six majors because I'm too slow. Like you said, it would be nice if it happened, but unlikely. I want to keep running regardless and you're right, there are so many beautiful races and places to see instead. Keep up the good work too and thanks for the chat 😊

    Thanks for sharing your recap of the race weekend, that was really interesting.
    The pizza looks delicious! I have watched a load of marathon vlogs and it always interests me what people choose to eat for the meal before.
    Wow, those photos are so expensive!
    That looked like such an amazing experience! I would love to do that one day.

      Thank you for watching 😊 I usually try to stick with pasta or pizza the night before. Even two to three days before, I generally try to have foods that are carb-heavy. Shame the photos are so expensive. I understand they need to make money, but it kind of ruins it for some people, especially when some have had to travel far and had to pay for accommodation or even flights. To then try and charge so much seems wrong. I definitely recommend Manchester though. As a first Marathon it certainly wasn't the wrong choice 😊 I hope you run it one day and then you can tell me all about your experience!

      @YuennyLam it will be my 5th, I'm coming to this quite late in life, done Abingdon 2019, London 2023, Brighton 2024, maybe Abingdon again in Oct. Was looking for a large and exciting marathon and booked Manchester on ticket release ad London is a lottery. Do you have any more lined up?

      @YuennyLam  7 місяців тому

      @@alangray8952 It's never too late. I've only just run my first Marathon and I'm not young anymore. But I would like to run more and improve. I've entered into the London ballot and also signed up for Newport Marathon, as it is unlikely I'll get a place for London next year. My next Marathon is Chicago, my second ever Marathon and my first World Marathon Major 😊 How are you finding the Marathon training?

    • @alangray8952
      @alangray8952 7 місяців тому +1

      @YuennyLam wow Chicago will be a great experience. I do like marathon training as it gives me structure and having it a marathon booked is a good goal to go after. Trying to chase down a time now, think I'll use Abingdon to build fitness and go after my goal at Manchester 🤞

      @@alangray8952 I can't wait to run Chicago. I had a dream about it the other night 😂 I hope your training continues to go well. I like having the structure and routine too. I don't know how much faster I'll be able to run but I'll keep going and try to enjoy each Marathon as much as I can. Thanks for the chat 😊
