As always great video. I like the idea of the smart battery but personally will not buy technology like this until the vendors have a standard. Gens makes a nice battery but not nice enough to justify the extra cost that comes with the name. The rc industry really needs to embrace open standards
The Gtech solution is good. The pin on the battery is not petruding so you can still get a Gtec battery and still use it on other chargers. As it's not a balance function, it's just a profile for the charger to read out.
I've seen other ways to do this using another connection for 'data' on the XT60 connector. All are nice ideas, but we need a universal standard. Happy flying!
They should have used the existing ISDT Bat-go standard. We dint need 200 smart battery standards. And when 2 or 3 charger manufacturers use the same standard then we would see more 3rd party smart batteries.
Curious to know if the number of charges is stored on the smart battery and displayed on the charger, would be nice to to be able to be able to uniquely identify the battery via a serial number or some other identifier baked into the battery
Does it discharge for storage at the full 1C current? My charger only discharges at .4A and takes forever, not to mention the horrendous fan noise it makes.
D300‘s discharge power 15W*2, which is not very high. So it may takes a long time if you use the discharge function. See things like the BD250 for discharging. It is what I use here.
The D300 will likely be one of my next RC purchases
Fantastic review, Lee! Thanks! 😃
That charger looks like a tank! I really like it!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Pretty cool. Software looks the same as the ISDT Q6 pro
Yeah it's a Chinese company that makes these and all hota gens ace and all other high end battery chargers.
Great video- what goes through their minds to still be fitting Deans connectors to their ’smart’ batteries though????
It's a car battery. I've swapped it as I'm all XT here... Happy flying!

Great charger. No coupon code for it, Lee?
Not this time... Happy flying!

What's needed is a standard that is vendor independent. I can't see a competitive manufacturer using a system designed by another... Happy flying
Is the temperature reading of the charger or the battery?
Internal temperature of the charger... Happy flying

Let me look into that and come back to you.. Leave it with me!
Yes, the number of battery cycles are displayed on the charger. It appears that GensACE plan to continually update the G-tech function in the future.

@@Painless360 Thank you very much for getting back to me on that, Lee.
just bought one and no matter what it just gives me a reversed polarity error lol
You’re the best 🫵
