I own a 20 Road King Special and love my bike. With that being said, I had was able to test ride the Springfield Dark Horse at Americade this year. I didn't know much about this bike and I agree with Kenny's observations. The Springfield feels lighter and more nimble and the 116 rocks. I appreciated the sport mode, which the RKS doesn't have. I can't compare stock suspension because my bike had the Revo A's shocks installed when I purchased, but the Springfield suspension seemed good on the test ride. The exhaust note is good for stock. I think the remote locks for the bags are a nice touch as well. The stock bars on this bike are more comfortable than RKS stock bars, but I would change these out in favor of apes or T-bars anyway, along with the Springfield stock mirrors (they are functional, just not a fan of the mirror styling). This bike was a pleasant surprise and put a huge smile on my face test riding this bike! If you are considering a Road King Special, I would definitely check this bike out.
The aesthetic of this bike really checks the boxes for me as far as a cruiser goes. A strong look that’s not bulky or overbearing. The glossy grey with black matte is also a nice touch!
I dig the looks too, the matte quartz gray with blacked out engine and contrast cut wheels present well on this masculine mile crunching machine Thanks for watching!
Great Question. I preferred my experience riding the Springfield over the Heritage, just as I preferred the Road King Special over the Heritage almost for identical reasons. How the gearbox felt and aesthetics, the Heritage.comes in third. Where it wins is total price, especially if you’re good with a low mileage 2022 or 23 model, you may save enough to cover cams and an exhaust then the heritage or any M8 begins to really sing and then I’d look past its short comings for the improved performance I’d experience with each twist of the throttle.
I have owned a couple of Indian Chiefs before they changed the Chief to be more like a Midsized Cruiser. I have owned a couple of Road Kings. My happy place is in the Harley Davidson 2022 Heritage Classic 114. This is a Very smooth riding Harley. Much more nimble and lighter than an Indian Springfield and Harley Davidson Road King.
It’s a great alternative to the Harley Davidson Road King it’s definitely a bike worth considering 👍
I agree. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!

Thank you for sharing your experience on the Springfield looks like we came to similar conclusions. It’s a nice bike.

So, the Springfield has better low speed maneuverability than the Road King Special? Or vice versa? Thanks.
About the same, slight edge to the Indian in my estimation.
I'm really thinking about buying this bike as my next big upgrade. After 4 years of satisfaction with the Scout Bobber.
I really enjoyed it! Beautifully built, smoother than the Chief in response of my inputs. Highly recommend!
Thanks for the review. I'm thinking about the Heritage or the Springfield. If you had to choose one which would it be.

I can’t argue that point. The heritage is the sweet spot.

Nice but I'll keep my Harley
Thanks Larry. They say it’s okay to ride other brand bikes to see what’s out there but when you hop back on your old Harley it feels like home.
