I would LOVE for this game to be made digital, fully so. It'd sell extremely well, and with online multiplayer you can even play with other people no matter if you got anyone nearby to play with.
5:25 Actually the Harvest Spice card says that you draw another card if no harvest space has any bonus spice on it. You place a rival agent on the space that gains them the most total spice only when you have multiple spaces tied for the amount of bonus spice.
I would love a solo play through from you Mike. I really enjoyed the multi-player on the channel and would love to compare both the multi and solo play. Just an idea. Thanks for the thoughts and review!!
@@kinagrill Love TI4, and despite its length (a feature, not a bug) there are always stories abut the game that are remembered and shared for years after we've played. The original Dune was also an experience- just a less pleasant or memorable one when compared to TI4...
I think the AI does not have to pay any resources to go to certain areas. And as far as harvesting spice they don’t go to the certain spot unless there are extra spice there so at least the first round the air would then just go to the next card. Overall great review and can’t wait until the upgrades come in the mail!
i make one change to rules in my solo play for this game by giving the rivals reveal turns i do this by simply rolling dice and removing cards from the imperium row starting with the most expensive to least expensive up to the value of the die
Not a huge deal but I think Rivals sitting to the left and right (think of it like at a table) + clockwise turn order means you actually go last on turn 1!
7:42 the human player gets to play intrigue combat cards AFTER you draw bonus combat cards for the rivals, so the player has always a chance to get the upper hand in combat after determining the final combat strength for the rivals
4:55 The physical "Harvest Spice" card says: "Send an Agent to the space with the most bonus spice [....]. If no spaces have bonus spice, reveal another card.", so red would draw another card in this situation. Is the app that different? House rules?
Duncan Idaho was a Sword Master before he ended up with the Tleilaxu and became a mentat. They are mentioned but don’t play a role in the early Frank Herbert books.
I hope this gets an expansion, as they seem to have ignored more than a few major characters in exchange for totally random new characters. Where's Feyd? Where's Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV?
Hi Mike, there something I can't neither understand or realize... How after all the complements and the good words that you put on the game "City of Kings" - It doesn't even own a score in your BGG rating table... This is makes me very suspicious about... Well... Everything.
This game clearly became a must have game. now I'm just scared it will be sold out in an instant and it's price will go up in the market because of that.
Just in case you missed it, the app is absolutely not necessary. The game comes with a deck of cards that allow you to play solo. The app is strictly optional.
The app is only mimicing the in-box enemy AI deck. Its entirely optional no matter the player count. But at two players or solo, you must use that deck. The app is only if you don't like fiddling with the cards.

I second that please mike!!!
Great stuff Mike!!
Glad to see this got it's own, solo-centric, review 🙂
Glad to see a Dune game that doesn't take 6 players and hours to play (+ a solo mode!). Thanks much for the review. 🖖
Try Twilight Imperium.... with a 7 player setup... I had a game of that where we played for like 11 and a half hour XD

Hi Mike,
How is this as a 2 player game? Does it use the same system as the solo game?
Thanks.

Hi Mike, you said this was one of the best solo deck building / worker placement games. What is your favorite?
i make one change to rules in my solo play for this game by giving the rivals reveal turns i do this by simply rolling dice and removing cards from the imperium row starting with the most expensive to least expensive up to the value of the die
Played first two-player game tonight and, damn, the hype is real with this one.
Not a huge deal but I think Rivals sitting to the left and right (think of it like at a table) + clockwise turn order means you actually go last on turn 1!
Yes, I was confused when he did take his turn out of order.
Does not Rivals (Bots) ignore the space cost? You gave to bank water from Habban for spice harvest?
Yes! So looking forward to this. Thank you, Mike!
Solid review! Thanks for putting this up!
love your solo reviews
Another great review from Mike. Ty!
Thanks for a great review!

Mike, have you tried Lost Ruins of Arnak solo? Which do you like better?
I’ve played it, but only multiplayer. I’m going to be playing it solo soon. I’m planning on doing a solo review of it once I’ve played it enough.
Where on earth is the full review for this? Tom said it was coming "next week" during the live play. "Next week" has come and gone.

This game looks so good! Thanks for the the review :)
There is a rule error on the Spice mining areas. If the AI draws a spice mining card, They draw again if there is no spice tokens on the board.
Nice. I was wondering about the app. So It's just a digital deck of cards

Nice polo...Are they available?
Why can't we just get proper plastic cards in board gaming? I'm so damn tired of cheap cards that have to be sleeved.
House Hagal? Who’s that?

Sword masters? Is this some unpublished Dune work?

It is a great game Indeed:)

What are you talking about?
This game clearly became a must have game.

Pre-order it.
Trash the seek allies card after playing it.
Apps and board games = no buy for me

Great. Don’t use the app. It’s optional.
So cool.
DI is great, DT not so much.
