It is so refreshing to hear an Annie with an authenic midwestern accent instead of an Annie with a New York accent using stereotypical "hick" pronunciations and slang to seem more country.
How lucky we are to have this video of an unforgettable performance. I had seen the great Merman in 1966 and Peters a few years before I saw Reba. Reba's interpretation of the song was illuminating - and so full of honest, joyful country humor. What an artist!
This is lovely. I remember seeing Barbara Cook in concert many moons ago and her mentioning during her between song patter that Reba in Annie Get Your Gun was one of the best performances she'd ever seen. Coming from Barbara Cook, it really means something.
This song is so hilarious 😂😂😂! ( Reba is a true country comedian in a Broadway musical!), I sang this song three times and I try to sing the song without laughing at Reba’s Comedic comments 😂😂😂!, but I ended up laughing too much at the comedy of the song 😂😂😂😂! ( I have never seen Annie Get Your Gun before and knew that Reba starred in the 2001 version!), I will keep on replaying this song as long as I can remember!👏👏👏😂😂😂
Had the privilege of seeing Reba perform this on Broadway. I count it as the most fun I have ever had at the theater. Thanks for posting this, I need the influx of happy memories this evening.
I had to just watch 4 actresses perform this back-to-back for my theater class in college and Reba by FAR had the best performance, which surprised me! I never knew she did theater. I'm so impressed!
A match made in Heaven! LOVE REBA ! I was Wilson, Pawnee Bill, and a French singing cook, cuz no one in the cast could hit the high notes in, "Moonshine Lullaby".
My mother told me she would fly me to NY to see Reba on Broadway. I was too scared at 17 but I wish I took the opportunity. Different times.. I've been several times to NY since... thank you for the post.
God she's so good in this. I am glad I saw Bernie, but I really regret not going back for Reba. I really wish they'd been doing live musical on TV at the time, because Reba in AGYG Live would be amazing.
In addition to Reba's spot-on interpretation - how great are Irving Berlin's lyrics here? It's essentially a one-joke song, but he keeps turning out verse after verse of these perfect and funny rhymes. They all say the same thing, but you just want more and more. This is a masterpiece of writing both for the character and the entertainment of the audience.
Absolutely. The 1999 orchestration also deserves a lot of credit here for keeping a repetitive song compelling the whole time. Combine that with performers like Reba or Bernadette and it’s one of the most show-stopping moments ever
As much as I love Bernadette, I really feel like Reba blew her out of the water in this show. I do really like Patti LuPone’s belting of this song though.
I love listening to Bernadette on the cast album, the amount of acting choices she makes per second vocally is amazing. But seeing video recordings of both of them onstage, Reba really is the full package, her mastery of the role and control of the stage is effortless here
Thank you so much for uploading this. her performance is Priceless. she's just so amazing.incredible. Do u know Is there a full record of this anywhere that I can watch? >
Best interpretation of Annie Oakley because her accent is authentic, even though others who've played the role have/had great singing voices, including my favorite, Bernadette Peters. "Can't" is not pronounced "Cain't"
Due to illness and scheduling, Reba went on in the Carnegie Hall "South Pacific" will VERY little rehearsal, making that performance and evening all the more remarkable.
Not sure what "fan proshot" would be----this is from June 2001, near the end of Reba's run. I don't believe anything from this performance has been previously posted on UA-cam;
Disagree emphatically. Love Hutton always but she was WAY over the top to the point of her being a distraction with her antics. Reba is spot on perfect. Not close.
the best marriage of actress to part I have ever seen on Broadway!!! I remember it to this day!
Quite so---she's a natural.
It is so refreshing to hear an Annie with an authenic midwestern accent instead of an Annie with a New York accent using stereotypical "hick" pronunciations and slang to seem more country.
Yea I grew up in the Deep South. We would sound more hick than Reba’s natural Okie accent. Lol
How lucky we are to have this video of an unforgettable performance. I had seen the great Merman in 1966 and Peters a few years before I saw Reba. Reba's interpretation of the song was illuminating - and so full of honest, joyful country humor. What an artist!
I agree -- she is so spirited (and Great with humor ).
Reba was born to play this role!
No question about that.
She is absolutely adorable and perfect in this role!
No question about that.
Mind blowing , brilliant performance. Reba never disappoints. Pure joy
This is lovely. I remember seeing Barbara Cook in concert many moons ago and her mentioning during her between song patter that Reba in Annie Get Your Gun was one of the best performances she'd ever seen. Coming from Barbara Cook, it really means something.
It sure does. Barbara Cook was one of the best sopranos..... ever.
@@vivianalperin5555 How we miss her !

“Now a man never trifles WITH GALS WHO CARRY RIFLES” 😂 Her inflections kill me
I'm transported! She squeezed everything out of that great Irving Berlin tune. Well done! ♥️
My mother told me she would fly me to NY to see Reba on Broadway. I was too scared at 17 but I wish I took the opportunity. Different times.. I've been several times to NY since... thank you for the post.
I really like this song, and I freaking love how she performs it!
come back to watch this over and over again. Reba is so AMAZING! She's the BEST!!
I love Reba McEntire & the musical Annie Get Your Gun
Is there ANYTHING Reba can’t do?! 🙌🏼❤️ QUEEN
I had the privilege to see this in 2001 and Reba was amazing! She is just a natural at whatever she does! Love her!
Went back a 2nd time to see Reba. Superb performance.
Reba is PERFECT for this role. Made for her!!! She’s awesome!
she gives me goosebumps YESSSS SHES AMAZING
God she's so good in this. I am glad I saw Bernie, but I really regret not going back for Reba. I really wish they'd been doing live musical on TV at the time, because Reba in AGYG Live would be amazing.
She makes a list song sooo short and colorful! Each moment is special and specific! I LOVE IT! It’s so heartfelt!!

Agreed---the entire score is masterful and terrific.

Outfreakingrageously wonderful!!!!!
😎😎😎
She's so good at this. ^____^
Lovely. 😍
This part of this show was/is so just made for her. ^____^
I saw her in this role. She was GREAT
Loved her performance. (So much more real than the other two). Thanks for this.
She’s the absolute BEST!!!!!
Best Annie Oakley, it’s perfect for her!
Reba........PLEASE YOU ARE AMAZING
U did great in this musical
Absolutely perfect.
Just came across this. So glad you posted it - I love Reba and only wish I could’ve seen it in person!!
She is REALLY good in this role!! Perfect fit for her!
My personal fave Annie
In my thirty years viewing Broadway shows, she in this and Hugh Jackman in Boy from Oz were the absolute best.
Reba can do it all!
This is perfection.
I so wish I could have seen this entire show with Reba
Her voice fits Annie so perfectly!
GREAT!!!!! GO, Reba ;)
Wow! Would be interested in the entire show if it were available!
Thank you
Worth every dollar....
As much as I love Bernadette, I really feel like Reba blew her out of the water in this show. I do really like Patti LuPone’s belting of this song though.
Angel Goldstein She’s alot more comedic, plus the accent makes it much more authentic.

Wonderful! =D
Doctor Crusher goes Annie get your gun ;)
great fun
Wow.
Is this up for trade?
Best interpretation of Annie Oakley because her accent is authentic, even though others who've played the role have/had great singing voices, including my favorite, Bernadette Peters. "Can't" is not pronounced "Cain't"
She’s wonderful love her in south pacific too but the music director didn’t know what to do with the song construction
Due to illness and scheduling, Reba went on in the Carnegie Hall "South Pacific" will VERY little rehearsal, making that performance and evening all the more remarkable.
Is this from the fan Proshot or the Mar 15, 2001 recording?
Not sure what "fan proshot" would be----this is from June 2001, near the end of Reba's run. I don't believe anything from this performance has been previously posted on UA-cam;
aurora spiderwoman Oh okay. I'm dying to track down the full recording.
Is there the full recording anywhere else? Do u know? She's so amazing. Admire her so much. would love to see the whole play of this.
A man may be hot, but he's not when he's shot ...
Who can argue with that?
Difficult to match Betty, but Reba comes close.
Did you ever see the movie with Betty Hutton. 1950 Annie Get Your Gun, Betty Hutton stole the whole movie.
She looks like Carl "Alfala" Switzer in a red wig.
Betty Hutton is still #1 in this song.
not half as good as betty hutton. betty had a lot more personality.
Um...ok.
@@JerkyPuck glad to see you agree :-)
nope
Disagree emphatically. Love Hutton always but she was WAY over the top to the point of her being a distraction with her antics. Reba is spot on perfect. Not close.
@@LazlosPlane Her singing is good. It's just that physically, she's boring. Betty' moves were a lot faster and sharper.
Thank you
