I Jessica. I watch all of your videos and have learned a lot of tricks and tips from you. I'm new to pottery and just did two batches of bisque fire that come out fabulously. I just did my first glaze opening about a half hour ago. I heard that you can unload at about 200 degrees, which is what I did. My question is I opened it at about 200 degrees cool down time and I heard some pinging on the first two mugs that I took out, so I immediately put them back in and shut the lid so they can finish cooling down further as I wasn't sure if that was the reason. Is this normal? I use Continental clay and Mayco and Coyote lines of glazes. My kiln is newer and I have the touch screen with built in schedules, so I didn't have to figure out much. I just tapped the button to 6 cone for glazing and walked away.

I often hear Potters say they do X amount of minutes hold. Why do you do a hold? What do you achieve by doing a hold?
Maybe stop putting new stuff on the top of the kiln.
