Your channel has the best of Tableau Videos, and are extremely easy to follow. I am having a tough time in understanding LOD expressions. Can you kindly make a Video on LOD expressions and how to use them? It will be very useful to many. Thank You In Advance Andy.
Superb... improves the pre-attentive processing of information. There is one more option. Update the Mark Position formula to something like -100. Add it to columns as an Attr. Now its fixed and doesn't change with addition of dimensions.
Hey Andy, good stuff and very relevant to the work I'm doing. Any chance you could switch to decaf and slow down a bit! LOL. I find that I'm constantly having to pause and back up and pause and back up and eventually I just give up and stop trying to follow along. Otherwise, it's all pretty darn helpful. Thanks.
You realize I do these for free on my own time, right? The reason for a video is so that you can pause and follow along. I don't have a recording studio nor editors.
Hi Andy, @ 3:26, could you please explain why the calculation for YoY is SUM(Latest Year) >= SUM(Prior Year)? Why can't it be simply (Latest Year) >= (Prior Year)? Thanks.
Never mind. I got it. Aggregation is the correct thing to do here. Otherwise, when I drag YoY into the view, Tableau will aggregate it as SUM(Latest Year >= Prior Year), which is just a sum of a bunch of 1's, because the inside part is a boolean comparison. Sorry for the confusion!
Hi Andy, great tutorial but I have a questionf for you: I was able to do as you showed in the video however I want to measure the count not sum of something. More specifically I want to count the number of support tickets this month and compare it to the prior month in the same fashion you do here, however when I change the measure type from sum to count the values aren't correct. Please could you let me know what I need to do? Thanks!
Can we have same Up-Down arrow toward the end (right end of Bar Graph)on addition and deletion of Measures can the indicator be the same(without any size change)?
what if you're comparing Days of the Week and the Previous day is a Sunday or Saturday in which case you don't have any data? How do you make the Previous Day always a weekday (mon-fri)?
Andy, How would one display KPI's based on another calculated measure? I have a calculation called NPS (%Promoter-%Detractor) where promoter and detractor are values in my data set. I first calculate the percent of promoters/detractors (count of (promoters/detractors) / num. of records) and then calculate NPS. However, when trying to follow this tutorial - You cannot mix aggregates and non aggregates in the IF statement. Nor can u solve the issue by putting ATTR() around the Level of Detail Calculation and/or Date because then the value will always be 0. Any suggestions?
Hi! I'm trying to do this with counting unique IDs and by Fiscal year. When I input COUNTD(metric) instead of sales, I can't aggregate. Also, how do I make the "latest year" a fiscal year vs. a calendar year? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!
Great video, one of the Andy's best. I tried the same but got stuck at the time when we need to add a multiplier to the - value of Window_Max. Don't know why but my Axis sync lost every time when I add a multiplier (in Andy video it was *0.05). May be some one help me here,
I have finally fixed it after checking all number formats. Thanks. Just another query, can we somehow put in dynamic month names in Tooltip, ex "Prior Month"
great tip, awesome job, love your channel. However, this kind of stuff should work out of the box for the money you pay for a tableau license. thats insane. To go through all that just to line up a KPI is completely ASINIE!
So true. Try seeing how to get a doughnut graph. Lol! It's a standard in Power BI. DISCLOSURE. Am not connected with Microsoft in any way other than being a user.
Great video Andy! Being a subscriber I'm a big fan! Quick question. how do I get around the calculation error of Cannot mix aggregate and non-aggregate comparisons?
All your videos are great! Please keep them coming. This one is very useful for me.

Andy, thanks for teaching us
Absolutely beautiful

This helps out tremendously. Thank you.
Super helpful!! May I know how to show the variance between target and current year ?
Thanks it will as very helpful..!!
Glad to hear that...thanks!
Millions of thanks and It is awesome...Thanks for sharing the video
Great Job Andy Thanks!
Well done! love your videos.

Andy Kriebel uh, ok then. Well, keep up the good work. Thanks for doing them.
Genius Andy!
Excellent video.... Thanks a lot
Wow this is great.

Amazing!
amazing!!! I love it!
Great videos! thanks!
Mind blowing!
very recursive, Excelent! thanks
Hi Andy! I'm struggling on the visual to show current month bar chart after last 12 months spark lines... Can you please post this one as a new video?
Thanks Andy! Appreciate the video. I was trying to modify this a bit to do it for a current/prior month instead of year. How would you do that?
Where can I get the dataset ?
Thanks for sharing what you know! Knowledge is power!
very impressive...
Cool Andy
One more question: how can you sort the data in the bar chart?

Daniel, Did you figure out how to do this? I'm interested as well.

That's probably because they are no different number types. One is whole numbers and one is decimals. They have to be the same to sync.
Many thanks for the quick reply, they are actually both whole numbers. I am still investigating the issue. Will update.
I have finally fixed it after checking all number formats. Thanks.

good video but my synchronization doesnt work

Agree with you, should be done by Tableaau as standard
Joe JG
Agreed, reason why so many ppl say with excel
