Great & very helpful video! I noticed there is a mistake during the last example you may want to clear up: the wrong set is dropped in at 12:00 instead of the recently created combined set which leads to the wrong variables being mapped in the visualization. I thought I was going crazy!
Thanks! Glad it helped. I noticed that but UA-cam wont let me change the video, I have to deleted it and just start from scratch. I may just have to do that :/
Good catch, I was just going to comment and ask why appliances have “out” when both of the other two are “in”. (At 12:04). Initially I was even more confused because he dropped the third set in between the other two - which I only noticed by running it back a couple times. Overall good video, but I wish he would have lingered after adding the combined set and he would have noticed the inconsistencies
Commenting again after watching the whole video. Before this video I kinda knew what Groups were and knew there was something called sets but now thanks to helpful people like you, I know exactly what is what and when to use one over the other. 🙏
Good video on Groups and Sets BUT........You brought in Set = "Top Sales and Profit..." not "Profit >0 and sales >100,000" (Time 12:00-12:05). "Appliances" and "Machines" should be IN for "Profit >0 and sales >100,000".
Why wasn't Appliances colored green in the final dynamic set? It looks like it is in both the Profit > 0 and Sales > 100,000 sets, but when combined it was not included. Any idea why this happened? Just curious. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you for the video. Very well done. The only little thing that could be improved is your interpretation of the data. When you look at the discounts, profit and sale amounts you are talking about people. But you are not analyzing it by customers, you analyzing data by product sub-groups. From the building a visual point of view it is not an issue. It's just that explanation sounds strange.
After combining the sets, why are Applicances and Machines not IN? They have both Profit > 0 and Sales > 100,000 but are shown as OUT. Can you explain that? Great video in general though, thank you!
Hey great video. I'm struggling to combine sets. When I right click on one of the two sets I've created I don't see the option to combine sets. Is there a different way to bring that option up?
I have been having problems with the dynamic sets, can I made a condition in the sets with created fields?! When I tried the created fields are not available , why?
Great vidoe, How to select all the values in the column at once, like I selected the values, I apply a filter now the remaining i to group all these thousand of values in the column at once, instead of selecting one by one by clicking, is there any easy selection method? i tried CTRL+A but it didnt work, i als o tried press and hold mouse button, like you did at 4:30 Thanks
Nicely explained. But question about Map where I was not able to view one of Zone name and rest of regions were displaying out of 4. Can you please suggest the problem
What if my data source is from an sql query, it gets updated everyday and there are new items not belonging to any group? how do I make it to auto group?
Is it possible to create a dynamic set even if the dimension is not unique? I'm creating an employee productivity set where some employees float in multiple sites so they be "In" in one site, and "Out" at another site. However, I see that the set just marks both as "Out". How can I work around this?
My dynamic set has a condition of Fill Rate>80% based on Fill Rate calculated field I created. Nicola works in two locations, say "Rural" and "City". In Rural her fill rate was 57% and in City, 85%. However my dynamic set marks both as "Out". On another occasion, Karie works in "City" and "County" and scores 12% in City and 82% in County, but is marked as "Out" in both.
+Cynthia A ok I got it. Its calculating the total rate for that person not taking into account the new dimension. so what is it you want it to do? if they past one and not the other is it in? or they have to past both?
I want to be able to show the fill rates independent of each other. So anything below 80% is OUT and above 80% is IN. Both Karie and Nicola should have one IN and one OUT. Can it do that?
Hi Friends, Do check out my latest video on " Differences between sets and parameters " in Tableau. Thanks for watching. Have a nice day 💐🎉 ua-cam.com/video/xCDDpgaj1xU/v-deo.html
Vizual Intelligence Inc. Yes, though I have made it work but not sure if there are alternative solutions- Issue: Have a Dashboard with 8 tabs/worksheets and the quick filter selections remain selected in each tab so that the end user can continue with their analysis. We have around 9 quick filters and sometimes the users forget to undo all the selections. Is there a easy way to RESET all the filters. I am using a url action to reset the Dashboard which is also resetting the filters.

This is the video which helped me understand the concept. Thanks very much. Great video!
I watch lot of Tableau calculation video but never I feel confident to understand that details. But it really awesome and easy to catch. Thanks.
Thanks man, ill be putting out alot more content starting next month.
Best explanation I've seen yet!
That was very helpful! Please keep making these videos.
Great explanation. Thanks

I agree, but what is wrong here?
I thought I saw that too, good catch 👍🏻😁
Thank you for your explanation.
thank you so much for this tutorial, it was well-explained with multiple examples, can't thank you enough :D
Amazing, all well explained. thank you!
Thank you, concepts are clear now :)

Thanks sir excellent explained and your any Tableau videos
Hi a great video! can you tell me why few of the dashboards are showing red and few are showing blue below?

Is groups are created on dimensions and sets on measures?
very good and detailed explanation , thank you.
Thanks for your feedback.

Nice Info about Groups & Sets. Here I have a small query, how we can use groups in Calculation fields?
In the newer versions of Tableau you can but below you would have to create a if then statement to group it or a set.

Very cool video. The green and red choice threw me a bit because I am a little color blind
Great explanation. Quite astute with the content. Easily the best hitherto.
Thanks, I try to make things as easy as possible
Great explanation
Great explanation.
Very well explained, thank you !
Very welcome
Thanks!, clear and well explained
Thanks man!

got it with SHIFT, thanks, kind a newby i am. lols
Yes that shift comes in handy haha
great video!
Clear explanation...
Thank you...
Can we combine more than 2 sets ?
Thanks a lot! Very useful!
Maybe this wasn't true in 2017, but you can group across multiple dimension in Tableau now, yes?
Nicely explained. But question about Map where I was not able to view one of Zone name and rest of regions were displaying out of 4. Can you please suggest the problem
Hey, sorry not understanding your question can you reword it please?
Good video
What if my data source is from an sql query, it gets updated everyday and there are new items not belonging to any group? how do I make it to auto group?
have you tried creating a Set based on a Condition?
Is it possible to create a dynamic set even if the dimension is not unique? +Cynthia Then you need to create a measure for each of the fill rates using a if then statement then do a separate set for each measure.
Very good explanation thank you
Thank you, clear and linear.
Great tip! Thanks!
Welcome!
Thank you, very clear.
In the Combined Set Graph, there is a red datapoint that has sales >$100K and profit >$0. Shouldn't it be green?
I watched more closely and noticed you colored the last graph by the original (manual) set and not the one you created to automate the process.
Cool explenation
very nice
I hope somebody sees this. What's the difference then between constant sets and groups?
You made a mistake in your set (profit >0 sales >100) in that you put the wrong set in your table (you put Top Sales). May want to check that out.
Thanks I appreciate that, Ill take a look at it. Good catch.
@@vizualIntelligence Your presentation is so very well, that the error is hardly any blocker. Thanks for this helping video
@@vizualIntelligence Did you take a look?

Perfect!
Thank you soo much.. waiting for tableau penlist to take my interview.. I can give exactly same examples :) :)
You are very welcome, just curious whats Tableau penlist?
Vizual Intelligence Inc. tableau interview pannel (evaluaters).. n thanks they asks me couple of questions on sets.. n got selected today.. :)
thanks
Why can’t we just use a calculated field saying profit > 100 and sales > 100000 and use it in color?
Nice

Haha thanks! Any other topics you have a hard time on, thinking of subjects for me next video now. I will be releasing a video all about Maps soon.
