@@Corazair Yeah me too, man. I always felt maybe Memento Mori was a little too intense for them to want to revisit too often. And I get it. But The Distant Blue would have been really fun to hear live.

For me it felt like they have been fighting with death for all these years and now they realised that its not something they have to defeat. And yeah also shed a tear or two. :)
Gotta give it to Architects, they expanded their sound while still keeping the heavier roots, and made a pretty decent album, there are some forgettable tracks on here but overall very solid material. This was a beautiful and sombre way to close this album.

For me its kind of their "first" album since they closed the trilogy with holy hell. Now they are searching for something new, something their own. I think compering this to their older stuff is pointless. People should enjoy new journey.

Looking at the earth(the distant blue) and he talks about it being our first home, our problems, religion etc. In this whole album its about his return to earth and how all that he sang about before is happening and has happened. Its a warning for us. He now doesnt fear death because then all thats come about will finally cease and he/we will be at peace. Thats the short and sweet version of what i derive from their past songs and now this album.

Maybe this is a weird place to reach out but i don't know where else to voice. I've recently developed a crippling fear of death (Thanatophobia) and it's messing with my head something serious. Architects has always been my salvation for so much of my life. I am so thankful for this song that for a moment relieved the pressure in my head. If anyone can help I hope you find this comment. I don't know what to do.
Death is something you can't avoid, there will be one day that it will happen. So the easy thing to say is "get over it", but if you really developed an phobia for it, you might consider looking up a therapist, and talk about it. Don't fret about it too much, again, maybe easier said than done. Just live your life the way you want. Do the things you wanna do. But don't let it drag you down.

This is the perfect album closer, especially with all the references to past tracks
The album cover alone screamed that sentiment.
