That *huge* pantheon at 8:38 is Caruso"s pantheon. Probably the best know (and maybe best) Italian tenor of the 19th century. No wonder it is so big and there's somebody taking care of it.
7:49 The skull is so clean and white and the wilted flowers are so pretty. This is lovely in the manner of a shadow box. Honestly, I wouldn't mind being part of such an arrangement when I'm gone.
You know that birdsong is pretty amazing the way it ricochets off the surrounding buildings and alleyways. Some of those masoleums were just chock full of people, there was no more room. It's really amazing to see all that. Thank you Dan. I wonder how I missed Part 7? Will investigate that. My hat is off to you Dan. This has been one epic journey that I can't get enough of! ♥️🎉☘️ 👀
I finally have a couple days off work and my garden is in (flowers and vegetables) so I have some catching up to do! I've missed a few walks! Tomorrow, I'll make myself some oolong and enjoy a couple cemetery strolls. I've shifted so much soil (and sheep manure) in our garden that I'm starting to feel like a grave digger. The fresh veggies are worth it though.
He appeared as though he was looking for you in a panic. Scary dude. Be careful in there , although you would think that would be the last place you would be followed. Stay safe. Thanks for the video. Very interesting, well done.
I love this channel! The excellent video skills, the nice voice, and the fascinating content -- so good! Yes, I too started getting nervous about that man following you!
I take photos of old graves I like and walk cemeteries too. I avoid the new ones or people still in living memory, but I too occasionally have had this problem, even in the Uk. I was in San Amaro, a caruna in Spain and the guy followed me around this relatively small cemetery so much, I actually just flat out asked him what he wanted. He said I wasn’t allowed to touch anything, which clearly I absolutely wasn’t. Then he asked me why I was there, and I said it’s none of your business in the best Spanish I could muster 🤣 he soon left me alone. I think majority of the time, when they see someone who is not local they make assumptions. Luckily for us weirdos, walking around a cemetery is not a crime 😅
well we are up to part 8 and still going.... how big is this place anyway it is still creepy. You mentioned not being there at night but I noticed street lamps....how scary would that be LOL
I wish I understood more about the meaning and how this all came about did families purchase lots like on a home purchase a lot and then they can build whatever they please to whatever direction as tall as they wish as deep as they wish? . And do the families have to maintain them afterwards or do the cemetery maintain them who is responsible? It seems like a lot of money for the dead some of these buildings today would cost upwards of $100,000 to almost 1 million to have built :-) That's crazy but these are some very nice educational videos I appreciate you taking the time to show people be safe out there
Love your videos and the cemeteries you visit, they are beautiful, please stay safe as there are some strange people out there, sending best wishes from Australia.
Might just be making sure your not grave robbing, can expect there’s been a few over the many years, plus there’s a lot a rituals that require bones.. probably just looking after the graves, esp as they are so old and broken with easy access. Great vid, creepy but peaceful walking through graveyards.
I have heard that in the state of Louisiana in the US they are at sea level so they bury people above ground in Mausoleums & after the body has decomposed they break up the bones then put another body inside to decompose. It's so hot & humid down there it doesn't really take that long. So, you may be right about once the body decomposes they bury it in the floor or just drop them through the hole in the floor in the ones where there is no staircase.
@@deadgoodwalks , I hope you do some scary haunted graveyard / cemetery walks at night with a lantern during the fall / oct month . hint hint make it ex ex ex spooky during spooky season ..lol 🎃
I think after you saw that guy a second time, he would have figured out you were only a tourist and not a vandal. And seeing that skull exposed in such an open manner does not reflect well on the groundskeepers!
that place is beautiful. i work with a guy that does this. follows people around through the cemetery paranoid like someones gonna uncover some top secret stuff and expose it.
Omg! When that guy appeared and you turned your out right after going up the steps - I seriously jumped because I thought that bust was him lol! Crazy!
That man was rather obvious. The skeleton was creepy it caught me by surprise like your video with the mass grave! Anytime I miss a live I’m bummed! Enjoyed the video though!! 💀👍🏼
Hi Dan excellent as always I enjoy all your travels I wonder how does you find your way out from here it’s so huge and looks more like a residential area than graveyard 😍❤️
Absolutely fascinating! What a huge place! This just confirms what I believe! Nothing last forever unless human knowledge and hands maintain it. The old crypts here don’t have any human hands to keep them maintained so we become bones…..and the tree! I loved the tree ! Ah! Yes! Death ! Happens to us all! Thanks Dan!
I never knew cemeteries like this existed until I watched your videos. It's good to find out about different types of places to be buried. It's a bit shocking sometimes seeing actual skeletons. I would be freaked. I prefer cemeteries with ground burials. When the time comes for me, I'm hoping to be cremated. It seems wrong that bones are exposed. Thanks for your videos.
It is amazing, these memorial and resting places must have cost a huge amount, so sad that they are left, abandoned to the elements after the care taken
They obviously have gotten, if not still get, lots of money into that cemetery so why oh why is it in such bad repair??? Also especially if there are links to Mafia families, why are they allowing that? Another good but terrifying one DGW. Be safe x
Such a beautiful graveyard it was and still can be if the relatives could spend som time to care about the "loved" ones. That man should be ashamed of how People just let it rot. It was a nice video. 😊❤
It is beautiful there, but it is such a shame that it is so neglected. Thank you for all your walks through the cemetaries at the risk of your own life🤔 Martha
I've seen many of these videos lately but I am still flabbergasted when right there within an arm's reach is an open crypt. You can reach right in and touch the remains. Also why didn't you go towards the guy camera in hand?
For some reason, the entire cemetery gives me the creeps. And that mysterious follower is the "icing on the cake", so to speak. You couldn't pay me enough money to venture into the place!
Hi Dan just come across your vid and I love creepy old cemeteries. That man was a bit creepy following you around too. Do you ever see or hear anything that might be paranormal? 👻
It would be as good idea for the local business men to arrange a guide service, availble st the cemetary having tours every hour . This would raise some much needed money to repair and maintain and it would enure that tbe tourists and photographers DO NOT GO WHERE THEY ARE NOT WELCOME. Look let's face it, the Camora is just a fact of life here. If they can profit by a guide service, good. If yhey can keep nosy people away from business being conducted then both sides are avoiding trouble. Videos like this popularize these places, for better or worse. The locals know when someone is praying or tending to a burial site or conducting business to leave them alone.
Not sure what it’s like in Italy but here you buy the plot it’s on and your family keeps using it. Usually the older bones get moved and new body goes in - and it continues that way. At least in some. Some you buy the spot and you don’t move. It all depends on the place state and contract you sign w the cemetery. What is a Shame is that all those bones just hanging out. They are supposed to take care of the place - the caretakers. It’s insane that they allow this to happen. It’s disrespectful to the person whose body it is and it’s upsetting to those visiting family members. They need to fix that. I am shocked that with all the earthquakes and such that they do above ground places like that. I guess they are very old buildings from before the time they knew about what earthquakes can do and how far they reach and what not.
Airport security!! You’re so crazy….😂😂😂😂😂. What a mess that place is. The brickworks are disintegrating. Just about everything is falling apart or suffered damage. Earthquake? Poor construction? Some look sound and others a shambles.
I am very intrigued in why this guy was apparently following you He may have been security? The cemetery trust fund should clean up most of these monuments Regular up keep and maintenance RIP☠️for those who are interred there
They should put as much attention to the property as they did for you.
That *huge* pantheon at 8:38 is Caruso"s pantheon. Probably the best know (and maybe best) Italian tenor of the 19th century.
No wonder it is so big and there's somebody taking care of it.
I'm glad there are people like you to document these places before they are all gone. It is eerily beautiful.
"Excuse me, sir...I'm trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty."
Too funny ! 😂
The Naples videos have been absolutely brilliant.
7:49 The skull is so clean and white and the wilted flowers are so pretty. This is lovely in the manner of a shadow box. Honestly, I wouldn't mind being part of such an arrangement when I'm gone.
The chirping birds are so nice❤
You should have told him if he was going to follow you, he should be your tour guide.
Really enjoying these videos Dan. The size of some of these mausoleums is staggering.
Excellent episode Dan. The place, reminds me of an old village. Top job as always. 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Kev, yeah the scale is unreal
That hand holding the vase at 1:36. So pretty, even while falling apart.
Love all the overgrown trees gives the place more of a natural character
Huh Jules . Tree hugger here 💚

Glad you’ve got some days off. Fresh natural vegetables sounds good, better than the stuff in the shops. Enjoy the videos and thank you for the tip
😂
This cemetery is impressive and creepy at the same time!! Awesome videos!!🤗👍👍
Beautiful Cemetery. Please be safe. I have enjoyed your videos from Naples. Jean Crosby Nashville Tn USA
It’s soo sad to see these places not being taken care of
It's up to the families to maintain, but what happens when the family dies out?
The families die out ..
Another awesome video! I really enjoy your videos, it reminds me to enjoy life while I can. Stay safe in your travels

Thank you....truly enjoyed it!🎉
It was like a horror movie the way the dude appeared and then disappeared. 😂😂

I love the videos in Naples. I’m not creeped out by the bones, I’m heartbroken because no one is taking care of the resting places of so many people
Have you considered doing a tour of the Palermo mummies? Now that would be awesome!
I love walking around old cemeteries but would get lost in that one it's like a maze

Some cemeteries in New Orleans have perpetual care if you pay a little extra. It is well worth it.

Do you have any personal protective equipment when you walk around the cemetery alone?
Great location for a video game background!
Was that skeleton real? That's so spooky. Another fantastic tour.

Indeed. If you've paid for a mausoleum, what you've actually done is paid big bucks for your naked bones to be exposed for all to see.
It is amazing, these memorial and resting places must have cost a huge amount, so sad that they are left, abandoned to the elements after the care taken
It's crazy that some of the ones with bones poking out have fresh flowers, so they definitely know the state of it .
I've never seen a cemetery in such disrepair and the dead treated so disrespectful.
That man wants to know if there are any good restaurants at the graveyard.

The Big Mausoleum was enormous. I saw the name Caruso, maybe the same family as Enrico Caruso but he is in his own Mausoleum .
Stay safe. Don't upset the mob. Or get squashed by falling masonry. I know you are home now but still good general advice.

would you do a tour at midnight ?

that place must be very haunted.. night would bring a completely different atmosphere.
They look like creepy little houses in a a creepy little village, with above-ground venting.
I never understood why cemeteries have to be locked at night it's not like the dead are going to leave!
Dead are not going to leave, but jewels and gold teeth may depart from their owners.
To prevent grave robbery!
Next time ask the scary man to show you around he might know more about the graveyard 😊 he might be the grounds keeper

I wonder - do all Italian cities have cemeteries like this, or is it a Neapolitan thing? They're not tombs, they're buildings.
How did all these people afford such lavish tombs. Seems impossible.
