The moment Lena opened her eyes.. It was so fierce and determined, man, that woman has laser powers too...
She's beautiful and seductive isn't she
On the inside
Not many people seemed to pick up on this. I always felt like Katy knew she had limited time to relay the internal struggle Lena was going through so she had to do it with a look. But in that moment, Lena was thinking of everything Kara said, all the warning signs Kara tried to give her. She was also probably thinking of their last interaction where Kara tried telling her Lex was hurting people. So in that one look all her hate over Lex once again manipulating her came out.
The fact that Katie just took him yelling at her where behind the scenes they were probably laughing lol great acting by both John and Katie!
Jon.... not John... but yes.
@@godofevil9468 tell him again go on tell him
@@godofevil9468 don't be scared tell him
The actores really nailed this scene and nobody is talking about that!
Why do you think mon-ell's mother choose Lena as the next queen of daxam
Because Lena had the quality of be a queen that why an Superior intelligent with good genetic all Lena had too do was just accept it
One of his best scenes he’s a great lex luthor
@@NaughtySnuggles agreed. I'm so used to his bubbly personality for his character on Two and a Half Men, that I was shocked by how amazing he plays Lex Luther here.
@@xD3athAngelx This is because he is an amazing actor.
Queres dizer actors...
You can tell Lex hates to get things half-done. He got every part of his plan right except truly convincing Lena that he had changed. Lena knows whenever Lex uses the word SAVIOR what he really means is DICTATOR.
Ge@r&@rcher “My way was the only way!” He believes that he and he alone should “save” the planet. A true narcissist. Jon Cryer is excellent in this in this role.
Well he is Lena’s half brother
As Lex said "I dont see why man shouldn't be as cruel as nature". He even quotes other lunatics
Last time he went against Kara he lost because of Lena. Kara lost Lena because of trust so Lex played the long game, supported her project without question, and didn't have her do anything illegal or try to get her to betray Kara. When she chose Lex over Kara it was because she couldn't do her project if she worked with Kara. So he did everything to support her thinking that once it failed he could say, okay this didn't work but what I'm doing might. In his head Lena not being there to help Kara was the key and truthfully it was. Lena stepping in at the last second cost him everything. That look on his face when he realized he blew it with his anger, he knew he lost. Lena was all the support Kara needed and he knew it
Anyone else think Lex's yelling was the built up rage he's been holding in since Lillian told him to remain calm and play the long game?
That is too like his character to not be intentional
Yes
This was always Lex's biggest failing. Throughout this season we see him struggling to contain his more psychotic tendencies. Lena isn't stupid, but she was hurting from betrayal and was desperate to have someone who placed her first. She wanted to believe that Lex cared more about her than his own goals. As long as he kept up the facade, she was willing to be blind. It's why she defended him in the second fortress scene. The moment Kara said she was trying to find the people Lex kidnapped, Lena jumped to his defense because she desperately needed to believe someone cared about her. It's why the moment he gives in to his rage, Lena closes her eyes. It's a trauma response. Katie was brilliant here because she perfectly depicted the response of sleeker trying to block out trauma. We see her accepting that she had been willfully ignorant as she opens her eyes with fierce determination to fix things.
But it all comes back to Lex unable to contain himself for long
I was skeptical about him portraying Lex, but he's made an exceptional Luthor. I hate him a lot.
Sounds like he earned his paycheck 🤔
Same xD
They're saying he played his character well. Lex Is a hated person so makes sense
My opinion, I would say that he is the second best lex
@@connorjess7000 Who's the first?
Jon Cryer is incredible as Lex Luthor
He truly is
I will always sees him as Alan from two and half man.
Every time I see Jon Cryer as lex luthor I'm expecting jake or Charlie to be there
Michael Rosenbaum is the best lex ever
Chris Renshaw I’ve watched some of Smallville, not all of it, but I’ve heard that he is great as Lex.
Hey so both of these actors need awards thank you.
1:53 I never seen Jon Cryer's acting skills like this in Two and a Half Men before
hard to show acting skill when your role is to be a ever shrinking spinless doormat leech
@@zeozelos Well put
It looks like old Alan went out his mind.
FUCK THATS ALAN FTOM 2 and HALF MEN? WHY DID I NOT NOTICE
@@micahjohansson7573 looks like old Alan found his balls
It was so incredibly satisfying to watch Lex finally show his true face to Lena and prove he hasn't changed. Only scene that was better than this in my opinion was: (Spoiler alert)
Lena going to Kara's and apologizing to her
That scene threw me for a loop cause with 2 minutes left I never see Lena apologizing as an option. But one scene was missing. Lena had a ton of info by the time she got to Kara's. She had to have dinner research. She couldn't have figured out what Lex was going by guessing
Round of applause for Jon Cryer and Katie McGrath
👏👏
February 25, 2022
I've said it once and I will say it again there are certain performances in the Arrowverse that should get Emmy Award nominations
Especially Cryer.
i feel like when leana closed her eyes she was trying to cope, if you know what i mean. i have a feeling lex had emotionally abused her in the childhood and she just closes her eyes when it happens.
Ali DJ nice observation. Remember the flashback scene where we first saw Jon Cryer’s Lex? When Lex got enraged after Lena called Superman a “good man” she also closed her eyes. I definitely think you may have a point here
Well if you read Lex diaries, he actually abuses her (my english suck sorry)
He doesn't. Back in season 2, she revealed that out of everyone in her family, he was the only one she felt comfortable with. He only really changed after he started going after Superman.
@@henrypeters5291 actually Kex always was bad to Lena. Even before Superman
@@paolamatrelo3049 I disagree. There are definitely scenes from their childhood where he protected her from their abusive father.
Good acting by Jon Cryer
C Porz the best live action Lex in my opinion
JON CRYER IS GREAT ACTOR: HIS LEX LUTHOR IS AN ABSOLUT BEAST AND MONSTER!!!
He is SO comic accurate
@@ryangibson8313 your definitely right
Their acting was phenomenal 👌🏾
Lena finally stood up for herself. It took her long enough.
She never needed to see the depravity of humans, she grew up with you
Interesting you call this an argument...
It's years of abuse finally showing on the surface.
Abuse has many faces and the manipulation and way he made her feel small is one of them.
Jon and Katie were chillingly good.
Their timing was so on point.
One of the most impressive scenes I've ever seen.
How do you dare to shout to Lena? She is just a baby.
Yo, I have never hated Lex Luthor more than last night! That hate has multiplied! How dare he yell at Lena like that??? 😤😤😤 My poor baby 😭😭 my Lena's hurt!
@@bikara0 I know right! I feel the same, Lena is someone who needs to be protected at all cost. And Lex just... oh he is doing a great job as a villain.
Lex luthor accuses Lena for working with Supergirl I think lex luthor lied to the the monitor as well to kill Superman vs Superman as well
Lex luthor I feel bad for Lena as well
I think lex luthor used brany as well
Well lex luthor wasnt the badeist villian actually he is but that episode tho when he waa in the lexsuit singing its really funny well lex is my favorate vilian UwU
I thought I hated Lex before
Not going to lie he killed this part. I was impressed with his acting on this scene as Lex. Correction they both did a great job
They are acting in the scene is top notch. Jon cryer really nails Lex Luther and his ego: he goes from calm and caring to domineering and intimidating in a space of seconds because the sister he looks down upon calls him out on his bullshit.
Lex will always be Lex nothing else.
Lex isn't a type of a person to stand and die for a cause. He only stand for himself. He never surrender to something bigger than himself. He can see the machinations of the universe, but he see himself at the center.
Lex scream not right lex be lex he monster lena said
Dura Lex, Sed Lex? No. Lex Semper, Lex Esse.
It's like The Question said about Lex in the DC Animated Universe. "No matter what reality he calls home Luthor is Luthor."
@@Xehanort10funny. Luther is allway a luther
I know Lex is a manipulative jerk but I think he does love Lena, in a weird Lex kinda way. Siblings *sigh*
Also...
“You're a monster,” Lena said, calmly yet clearly enraged, “But that doesn't mean I have to be one too.”
Loved that.
That line alone is why Kara loves her. It proves Clark wrong: even a Luthor can be saved, even if only one of them.
Lex may have loved her in his own way but it was the wrong twisted way.
Manipulative jerk is a drastic understatement Matilda.
@@brimstoneclub It's not that Lena can be saved but rather she wants to be saved. No one can be saved unless they truly want to be. And can you really blame Clark for thinking that way? He witnessed firsthand the evil acts her brother committed because he tried to stop him every time. I would like to see the writers bring Clark AKA Superman back to the show and have him in a scene with Lena where he realizes she has changed for the better and is nothing like her brother and mother. Knowing the kind of person Clark is I'm sure he would acknowledge that and give her credit for it.
@@xyPERSON You're absolutely right 😂. It really is.
And I'd love a scene like that. Hopefully we get one in the future seasons 🤞🏾.
Oh my Rao. When Lena open her eyes and called Lex a monster I swear I've never been so scared in my entire life
1:31 and 2:30 - Morgana on her path to redemption..
The way Lex yelled at lena ,I wished Alan could do the same to judith.
Lena: you‘re a monster.... but that doesn’t mean I have to be one too
Me: that.... hit hard
Hats off to Lena here
Lena made the wise and courageous choice to turn from her brother, and for that I respect her.
She saved her own life and walked out on Lex.
yall if anyone ever doubted that Lex has been abusing Lena since they were kids, just watch this scene and tell you weren't as scared as Lena when Lex was screaming at her
geez. it's hella intense
Yeah he always had to put her down to keep her in 'her place'. He knows she is brilliant. That's why he tries so.hard to control her.
@@kellharris2491 lex is brilliant too what are you saying ?
Look Alan finally snapped and became a supervillian. Lol
Woah,, that is some greeeeat acting and directing. Waaaaaay above arrowverse average. Bravo!!!
I hated this scene so much only because lena is verbally being abused by her own brother! But Katie’s acting when she looks back up to him, omg queen!
that maybe but she was blinded by her own weakness and foolishness in a way she will never be more clever then Lex
@@DEMONFOXALEX THANK YOU
@@DEMONFOXALEX well in this universe she is better than Lex.
This scene was so intense! It's sad how blind Lena was, even if part of her knew she couldn't really trust him, but the fact that she couldn't made her desperately believe that he would have been a safer bet than Kara. And also they're such fantastic actors!
the amount of spit that is on lena face after that
jon cryer really is the best Lex i’ve seen
I love the dialogue of this scene. Lex makes it seem like being a nice supportive brother/human being is such a waste of time. An indulgence that is wasteful when he could be doing other things. Its such an inconvenience for him to show her the way, he thinks she should just fall in line and do what he wants. But Lena shows she has an inner strength beyond that.
Katie displays the full spectrum of Lena's thoughts and emotions in this scene with minimal words. As Lena listens to Lex you can see everything click, the realization that Kara had been right, tears for the choices she made, guilt for having hurt those who only wanted to protect her, and the determination to fix it as she walks off
It was in this moment that I was finally able to stop seeing Alan Harper and start seeing Lex Luthor. He's been good so far, but in this moment he fully became the role
It’s still funny seeing him as Alan Harper here tho 😂😂
I was him as lex luthor the moment he debuted.
The Universe isn't destined for you Lex, but you can still take it.
I'm glad everything worked out for Alan.
Alan finally accepted his dark side.
This man is the best thing about Supergirl. *LEX LUTHOR.*
Best scene of the whole season, hands down.
Katie and Jon Bravo! 👏🏻
We need to protect our child. Lena fucking Luthor is my child and my queen and she deserves the whole world. I said what I said
YES
In Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, Jon Cryer played Lex Luthor's nephew.
On this show, Jon played the big man himself, Lex Luthor
The reaction I had when Lex first screamed is the same one I had when Malcolm Merlyn screamed at Tommy in that episode near the end of season 1 of Arrow just came out of nowhere and it was amazing
Funny that both actors have the same first name only different spellings
"If you would want to save the world, Lex, you would have done it a long time ago." Superman
Lex Luthor has easily become one of the best villains of the entire Arrow-verse. Idk if he's as good as Thawne or Deathstroke but he's definitely up there.
For this show he is definitely the best. I only wish they hadn't squandered the LoD in Legends, so that Lex could step up and lead an army ov villains
Cameron Hodgetts maybe they’re gonna do it again. Like for a future crisis maybe. After all the LOD didn’t happen in this universe. Now that you put this in my head I really really really wanna see Lex and Thawne together.
@@heyiamnick4144 I really hope they do bring it back
Excellent acting, he is truly evil
Lex is evil
Yes, like Rumple who threatened and ordered Regina to turn Emma into the dark one.
That what some amazing acting, but I could not stay serious I busted out laughing as soon as he started shouting.
Am I the only one that for some odd reason when there is an intense scene I laugh, I don’t know why it’s so funny to me.
lol the way his face got huge
Therese Williams the slight growl and teeth grit when he said, “I gave you the world, I supported you,” was hilarious to me.
@@franklane3420 That, my friend, is called "narm."
i was not impressed. it felt kinda fake.
Nervous laughter. It's a way of binding your anxiety during threatening situations. A kind of defense mechanism. What if you inhabited your body and stayed in the moment when you would have laughed? You can't force yourself to do it. When you are ready and become more comfortable in those situations over time and growth you will be able to allow your real feelings to wash over you. I know, I have been there. I had the guidance of a psychologist to help me confront my fears. I also used to laugh if I was physically injured, thereby not going for treatment for the injury making matters worse.
I said it from the day of casting - Jon Cryer would kick ass as Luthor.
Top notch acting
And people STILL don't like his Lex ....I love it
Que grandes actuaciones, de verdad sentí mucho esta escena !!! Que grandes actores!
Lex's scream carried the pain of a decade's worth of indignity at the hands of his elder brother from the time when he used to be a loser called Alan Harper.
Yo Alan from 2 and a half men is off his rocker
Great performance Jon and Katie
He could scare the shit out of Evelyn Harper
That moment when Lenny Luthor was scarier than his uncle.
Let’s add him to the list as best Lex
I didn't think he'd make a good Lex, but boy was I wrong, he's so different from his days on Two and a half Men.😳
Jon Cryer is SCARY good at being Lex Luthor. To switch gears like that is truly epic. That's a mark of a great actor. He'll be my #1 Lex Luthor to love to hate.
Jon Cryer I know him from two and a half Men but man this man pull off lex better then Batman v Superman lex
Brilliant work
What's crazy lex truly didn't do nothing at all and her plan failed on it's own.But it's fact he snapped and didn't comfort her that's where he fucked up he broke once he heard "You haven't changed" He did nothing wrong to her this time and yet is the monster regardless.
Jon Cryer making a conversation go from 0 to 100 in 1 second is just hilarious to me for some reason. Maybe it's because I watched Two and a half men before Supergirl, but when I see this, I see Jon Cryer yelling out all the anger and rage he's had since Superman 4.
I don’t like watching supergirl anymore. I watch now just for John Cryer. His scenes and characterization are some of the best I’ve seen in modern day tv. Great scene, and great music too.
He looks and sounds like a mutant monster was about to rip out of him lol
No matter how good his acting is , i cannot unsee him as alan harper
To be honest, I hate Lex ruined Lena’s friendship with Kara. Lex made his own sister to becoming something she’s not. Lex corrupt her mind and her spirit. He use her for his personal gain. He revealed his true nature to her.
The point where Lex again showed his true colours to Lena. I believe one wise person said "when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time..."
Supergirl: Good actors in negative role
Flash: Good actor in positive role
Legends: The best...
Good acting!
Lex looks like he's about to have a heated gamer moment
1:54” HOw DArEEEEe yOU!”
Holy shit Alan, take it easy buddy.
18 years of child support will do that to a man
Damn Alan grew some balls lol
Lex is a monster lena step out
I think he did care for Lena after all he helped her with the project and did everything he can even if it took some hard decisions to make but he wanted to make a point for her to be with him rule mankind but above all he doesn’t want to be alone he rejected eve after all
Watch carefully at what Katie does as Lex said "true depravity of humanity ". She does a little had shake and even changes her facial expression, as if to say "i fell for it again ". She goes through everything that's been said and gets a look of shame that she doubted Kara yet again
I loved this scène. Best Lex Luthor EVER!!😀😀
Yeah
I didn't know jon Cryer was that great of an actor. Who would have known?
Please keep him on for superman and Lois
Fr, this Lex as a villain has been going on for 2 years, can’t the supergirl writers come up with a different villain?
When u talk back to ur parents.. 1:54
Ducky from Pretty in Pink just yelled at Morgana.
Charlie Harper would be so proud 🔥🔥🔥. Damn Cryer is an amazing actor amazing talent
This is what happens when Bad Alan takes control.
What if lex Luther was Alan harper’s alternate personality as in he has a split personality in two and a half men that would be cool he would lash out and yell at everyone while Alan is not in control of it doesn’t know how to control it that would be the coolest addition to two and a half men he uses that alternate personality in season 9 getting angry when he found out Charlie died that would be awesome to have in two and a half men jakes life would be complicated what do you think of that idea split personality for Alan
I wish this lex luthor was on Superman and lois
Is Lex on the show?
@@joewhitehead3 Yes and no.
At first there was this character named "Captain Luthor" as the first antagonist until it was revealed that it was actually a John Henry Irons (Steel) from another Earth.
He just used the Luthor name because the AI he uses, stole it from the LexCorp of his Earth and didn't have time to reprogram it, so for that AI to work for him, adopted the Captain Luthor alias.
Favorite scene of the season.
1:55 Now this make sense
remember
when mercy said that to #Lean
“remember when you were to scared to show lex your litter ventures to show until they were absolutely perfect “
I just fell so sorry for poor #Lean . 😢
From sensei
Lex and thawne would make a nearly unstoppable team
Emphasis on nearly
Lex CARRIED this season....and MAN! lena is BAD...they NEED a spin off show make it happen CW
Let's see Judith push this Alan around
I'm glad that Jon cryer has this role.
Maybe it'll help people forget the other one.
In my eyes, Michael Rosenbaum will always be Lex Luthor but god damn Jon Cryer is excellent in the role
Alan is still in the stress clinic
Man he is good
Probably the best scene I have seen on the show...two great actors.
Is this what 20 years of being a chiropractor is like?
Sad thing is, this portrayal of Lex Luthor has only affirmed what my opinion of him has been for years. For all his Success, his Wealth, his Power, his Intelligence, Alexander Luthor has always been a Whining Man-Child with a Little Man Complex. The fact that he’s willing to get his hands Dirty doesn’t take away from the Fact that he’s a Glorified Spoiled Rich Kid throwing a Tantrum.
