Great video - one of the best I have seen. Excellent analytical content. I am on a "journey" to replace all the HDDs with SSDs for our family laptops. All machines are between 7 and 1 years old! First conversion tomorrow - a 7 year old Dell Vostro 1015 165GB HDD to 250GB SSD belonging (handmedowns) to one of my children... All the laptops have had RAM updates and are Win10 so this is going to be exciting!!!!
Welcome back mate, just a quick question as I'm still on the fence regarding SSDS, whats this write cycle life all about ? I've got a rough idea, that being that every time you write to the the SSD its reducing its life,I might be wrong but if I were to download LOADS of choonz and edit the metadata and tags, does that mean it'd die very quickly, plus I;d want to use it for normal use as well, but not sure whether to buy one for my music storage/editing. Cheers mate
Ha ha changing your field up in here? lol what happen to Technics and djing stuff? luv u man! be watching you for a while now. Learned in those past technics 1200 modifications. I'm into computers too, and djing of course. Good to see u! Later...
coming from a person who used to use harddrives and didnt see the point spending money on ssds and scared about it failing, I switched to the samsung 840 evo my pc boots up in seconds no waiting for it to boot and waiting for chrome to open. id highly recomend it I do want to put one in my lenovo r61 but it doesnt come with sata 3.0 but im worried as it doesnt run at full speed unless you mod the bios
I've got a Samsung evo that just contains my o/s and those programmes that are essential to load up quickly such as antivirus. Boot up time has not changed that must from just my win7 o/s. Great advice, however this will not work for older laptops that have IDE HD interface rather that the SATA interface.
Thanks for your video. Do you ever address MacBook Pro? I have a late 2007 17" that is now due for an upgrade. I'm trying to decide between a medium capacity SSD internal or a (1TB) 7,200 rpm. I use a LaCie 3TB external which is 7,200 rpm. So many variables when I try to research online ...some people saying the internal bus speed isn't high enough to run SSD to full advantage. Anyway -thanks for you post. :)
Your videos are very usefull and informative. I have started seeing your video some years ago watching all your advices about the turntables adjustments, cleaninng, etc. Keep it up.
Ahhh the good old HP G62, did you have to reflow the GPU on it Frank ?, I have done loads of them, done properly with correct shimming of the heatsink as HP did not do, they will last forever :)
Amazing video! You put a lot of time and thought into this video and out comes some generally really useful information! Well done! :)
You are so awesome for doing this man. Very useful, you should have more subs.

Good useful video mate, well explained and presented. .............Is it worth increasing the ram capacity too?
So what exactly in on the memory stick? Did you make that a recovery disk/stick?
