had this mixer for a week and i cannot get on with it. maybe its just me! the gain on the phono inputs - using 2x technics 1210s - when playing records at 33, to get any decent type of level on the meter you pretty much have to crank the trim/gain way past 3 o'clock to get the signal at around -3 on the meter, if you intend to blend using the channel faders its doenst give you a lot of room to play with... its not so bad when yr playing records at 45 cuz the the signal is stronger. phono gain is strange on this mixer. you wouldn't want to do this, but i've put a record on at 33 turned the gain to its max, turned all the eqs all the way to their max and i can't get the the meter to hit +10. done the same at 45 and +10 on the meter starts to flicker. the other thing is that the meter lights feels lazy - like thers a lag - not instant asked westendDJ about the gain on the phono inputs and apparently this is intentional! the other thing is the signal to the headphones. when yr not cueing, the master out goes to the headphones. you can't stop this. its always ther even though you have the main mix/master coming out of the main speakers -- the only way to stop it is to hit cue on the channel you want to mix in, which is fine since you trying to mix, but as soon as you stop with the cue, the master out is back in the headphones. before the 23 - i had the 22 for over 9-10 years. did not have any of the issues mentioned above. and if it wasn't for the fact that it started crackling i'd still be using it. the layout on the 22 was much better, you have lot more control with what is going on in the headphones. each channel had its own meter alongside the channel fader which where also longer. yes the 23 has better sound etc etc but the the layout is terrible, the gain knobs (2 of them for one channel) are a dumb idea and very close to each other making them fiddly. it all just adds to the frustration of using it and getting in the way of actually mixing, am trying to like it, but am hugely disappointed, and likely going to return it. had i had a chance to try it in the shop i probably would not have bought it. but since everything is closed i took the risk.
I’ve just got a Xone 92, but am thinking of one of these to keep as a back-up. XLR outs and mic so swapping the 92 out in an emergency would be fine. For the price, it seems to be a well made reliable piece of kit. You could do a lot worse. Even has a filter!
if we have the fader sounding channel 1 and channel 2 fader down without sounding and activate the cue channel 2, VU meter is going to see the signal of channel 2?
Hiya Phil. Is it worth getting a small external effects box for this mixer if mixing dub reggae and deep house on vinyl? If so, could you recommend a nice little cost effective unit? Cheers 👍🍺
Yeah that could work! However, I cannot recommend anything. Why not ask it in our Global DJ Network Facebook Group? I am sure someone there would know...
i've recentlly found, from 2 YT videos about xone 22 , that the volume of the channel start to hear in the monitors after the 6'th line (gradation) on the faders (bottom -> up) and this make me think that the long faders are just a "mirage" . is this true? :( i'm preatty disappointed now. it really worth the upgrade from 22 to 23 ?
Hi! I'M trying to record voices in Ableton With a Xone 23:c as voice (xlr) input. But I arm the audio track (With many instruments and sounds alrededor composed) and when I hit record, it not only records Whats happening in the mic input, it also records all of the other sounds and instruments of the rest of the track playing What am I Missing configuring to make Ableton record only Voice coming from mic??

Would also like to know the possibility of adding the xone K series to the set-up in the future, like you can with the 23-C. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Thanks for checking it out Tex - the Xone23C has an internal soundcard, but for the 23 you'll likely need a soundcard for using it with DJ software or a portable recorder
@@celllino It all depends with what you want to record, laptop build in sound card are mostly of poor quality, external (USB) is a better solution in that case.
I've got an important question. I have experienced Xone 23 in the past. I used to play with Traktor. After a while i realised something. When i turned completely left the LF knob , there still existed some bass!!! It's nice be able to see cue levels and adjust the gain accordingly before banging a track in, imo. There's only so much I can trust my ear, literally one working ear in my case! Around 2:20 you are saying that "you cannot put individual channels through it (the external FX)". What do you mean? If you connect an external FX unit, you can assign where the FX gets applied by pressing the Filter button of each channel. Is this not right? If you are willing to take the risk of modifying the mixer, page 14 of the manual tells you how to increase the level of the phono inputs by 6db. Either have someone who is familiar with electronics/audio circuitry to do it for you (from what I can tell it's a very simple job), or if you're feeling game you can do it yourself (though if you have the slightest doubt whatsoever take it to someone who knows what they are doing). Of course, not every record is mastered at the same level so there will be instances where you'll just have to deal with a weaker signal/try it with the channel eqs going into the plus side (maxed out if you have to).
I know it's a 2 channel mixer but with the USB and 3rd mic channel, could we allow dj controller along with 2x Turntables to mix back to back on a night?
What on earth is Traktor?! Any comments as to the sound quality? I'm not arsed about all this fashionable DJing malarkey, i just want a good quality mixer for mixing between two Technics! Good sound, minimal unnecessary features. Why can't manufacturers keep old functions without adding unwanted stuff as an option, but continue to improve performance?
I'm not a digital DJ either, but why do people feel the need to make these stupid purity-test comments about every new piece of gear. No one cares if you mix on vinyl.
The Xone:23 has no sound card, so you would need to use an external one to use this mixer with DJ software. I had a look and found the list of Traktor certified mixers: support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/210273865 Unfortunately, the Xone:23 is not on this list.

Sorry it's been a long time since we've had our hands on this, best to check with the manufacturer :)
Digital DJ Tips appreciate the reply, thanks.
Thanks for taking the time to help here Martin.
Will the Xone:23C work with rekordbox??
In HID mode yes
@@digitaldjtips thank you! actually, now looking into an audio interface for DVS. would it be compatible with traktor scratch audio 10?
Any mixer will be compatible with an audio interface
Were are the gains???
Each input has its own gain control at the top of the mixer
Can I use with vinyl?
Yes
Ok
I know it's a 2 channel mixer but with the USB and 3rd mic channel, could we allow dj controller along with 2x Turntables to mix back to back on a night?
No, that wouldn't work well.
why are mixers so heavy?
Internal components and a heavy case so they can survive packing up/down and in club environments :)
What are the headphones to the left, anyone knows? :)

Because people have different needs, just because you need a standard mixer doesn't mean everybody else does
I'm not a digital DJ either, but why do people feel the need to make these stupid purity-test comments about every new piece of gear. No one cares if you mix on vinyl.
did traktor works in this mixer ?
The Xone:23 has no sound card, so you would need to use an external one to use this mixer with DJ software. I had a look and found the list of Traktor certified mixers: support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/210273865 Unfortunately, the Xone:23 is not on this list.
Digital DJ Tips what externalidades soundcard you recomend ?
Nice review. Could you please give me the names of tracks used in this video?
