Hearing the wonder in William Shatner's words while others are celebrating as if it's a bachelorette really makes you realize that he's the only one who really gets what this experience means for humanity as a whole and confirms that in his heart he really is our Captain Kirk! It's a shame we could barely hear him as the others were screaming and laughing so much.
Dude, blame the crew for not moving the mic closer. Let people celebrate, people process experiences differently. Awesome for our good Canadian boy, but don't tear others down.
First of all If anyone had a real Brain can see IT'S ON SET .OK LET THAT SINK IN IN TEXAS .THEY PROLLY WAS HOPING HE WOULDNT MESS UP HIS LINES .THIS TOO FUNNY #WOKE N AWAKEN.
Bezos said “I wanna hear this,” sprayed some champagne, and went right back to full attention on Schatner. How dare he excitedly celebrate what just transpired.
I think he realised William couldn't get his point across over the excitement of the rest of them, so tried to get it out of the way by cracking the champagne, then immediately focused his attention back to William.
Shatner is desperately trying to find in words what he's experienced & what it meant to him. That yearning to express what he's feeling with others is THE HEART of Artistry in raw form. At first, I thought it was really cool that our Captain Kirk had gone to the stars, but the thoughts & words he brought back down with him touched my very soul. That's HEAVY. So happy for him. This is a man who lives life to the fullest...probably why he looks so young for his age.
The fact that your comment actually meant more to me than his words is telling me that his words were scripted and rehearsed like a movie.. kinda like a crappy actor trying to get better.. or lost their mojo kinda vibe. That’s how it felt when I was watching but who ever this old guy is just seems to throw bad vibes.
Shatner saw something Bezos could never see. Bezos looks to conquer, Shatner looks to understand. Shatners mind has been blown by this journey, finally understanding the fragility of earth. I've been so opposed to space travel right up until this moment, but if space travel can teach people that our planet is not some giant infinite resource, but our mother who needs protected, and we can reach enlightenment from such journeys, space travel is well worth it.
I feel bad for William everyone had someone there to welcome them back and William just kinda stood there with no one to embrace him, and when he got emotional was moving
@@officialdazer exactly the rest of the world should just stand still and not evolve because there are poor people in the world, I think you should be in charge of all the less fortunate people in the world and you can give us the go ahead once everyone is taken care of and only after that will we be able to go up into space
I bet he's been thinking alot about life and death being as old as he is. What he was saying almost seems like he's reflecting on his life at the same time as the trip to space. Im happy for William Shatner. If anyone deserves a trip to space its him. He gave so many people the dream of space and inspired many people into actually going to space. Without William Shatner Blue origin probably wouldn't exist!!! We'd probably be still riding around in stage coaches and riding horses.
Lmfao!!!! I was referencing the "rural purge" on tv!!! Before star trek westerns were really popular on tv. Star Trek and lost in space were one of the few tv shows in that era that were space related in the era that westerns dominated tv. ones that. While westerns died out more urban related programs were promoted. In the end the space themed shows like star trek stayed on the air. Star Trek was a staple of American tv. Imagine if the rural purge didn't happen. We'd all be wearing cowboy boots and dressing up going to line dances. Like it or not tv shapes how society behaves. Star Trek continued presence shaped our society in countless ways from entertainment, to civil rights and morality, to inspiring young children to get an education. We would seriously be living in log cabins that look like they belong the set of bonanza and we'd all be rooster wrestling and herding chickens to milk. Our entertainment would never be UA-cam but we'd probably pass the time by going to the rodeo to ride pigs and cow-fighting matches. It would be a whole different world then what it is today.
William Shatner space flight has become, clearly safer than anytime in history. We Americans must never forget those that gave their all, in past flights. So many tragic mishaps, beginning immediately after the successful Sputnik Satellite. May they all rest in peace.
I think what Bill is saying is it makes you appreciate the fragility, glory, beauty of our little blue marble and how we need to take care of our home.
I started weeping the second he stepped out of the capsule. My son has recently started working for Blue Origin, he made a good choice. While Mr. Shatner was speaking I continued to weep for the joy he must have be feeling. He is responsible for this space geek.
Shatner went to space. The others just went on an amusement park ride. Those noisy people are proof that you can be poor even when you have millions in your bank account.
October 13, 2021, 4:15 P.M. Eastern Time Zone. William Shatner returns from space, safely and in good health. The oldest Astronaut as of this date, to sail the surly bounds of space, reach out his hand, and touch the face of God. Good job William Shatner.
I said exactly the same thing when I watched it. It's pretty crazy to imagine when I was watching Captain Kirk as a kid that one day he would actually be in space. Was great to watch and I'm so happy that he got to experience it.
Sad that for someone to have such a profound and moving experience you could barely hear him from all the laughing God Damned Hyenas in the background WTF! 🤦🏻♂️ Maybe next time they can leave the college frat party on the ground.
I knew Shatner would come back with a profound experience. His reaction is more moving than I thought it would be. He wasn’t interested in weightlessness and floating around in space. He was looking out the window at the Blue Earth and the Blackness of Space. And he used it as a metaphor for life and death. Quite accurate actually. I’m so glad he got to go up there and see it finally and can say he was in space. I think it may have moved him forever. And we are richer for him sharing this experience. I only wish Nimoy had lived long enough to go up in space as well. I would have liked to hear his reaction.
We love you Will. I'm so glad you lived long enough to experience the very thing you helped to feed our dreams. You literally brought tears to my eyes with your words. Life is delicate and fleeting... we should cherish the blessing we call life.
That’s really cool of blue origin to take him up to the edge of space maybe next time if he would want to orbit the earth or go deeper into space he should hit up Elon musk
Pretty crazy the Bezos is suing Nasa for not awarding Blue Origin the contract for space station flights…Origin hasn’t even gone orbital yet, and Musk is seriously pushing the boundaries of Orbital flight
Just read Shatner's thoughts about this trip. They truly sent a poet up there: "... I discovered that the beauty isn't out there, it's down here, with all us. Leaving that behind made my connection to our tiny planet even more profound."
I'm delighted for the fellow. I very much doubt I'd be brave enough to do what Shatner did. I'm just disappointed the experience was so brief... though, it's obvious it was, surprising, a tad overwhelming. Thanks, for bringing him back to terra-firma.
Never, never forget. We stand on the shoulders of Giants of Politics, Enterprise, Science, Technology, Manufacturing, & very Brave Men. Some of which didn't make the attempt so we could continue to achieve.
