I love Super Mario Bros. Z! When I watched episode 3 for the first time, it was so hype when Mecha Sonic started attacking Yoshi, btw poor Yoshi :'( . I felt sad that not only was Yoshi knocked out by Mecha Sonic, but Yoshi also got beaten so hard during that very brutal fight. So I started to imagine, what if Yoshi was the one beating Mecha Sonic? Would be interesting to see that... And that's where I got the idea for this animation, hope you guys like it! Took me months to make this hehe, just goes to show how Alvin-Earthworm made the original with great amount of effort.

@@bennysontennyson mecha sonic didn't used the emerald power in the original, the remake has a new take and all 2 characters used it
Metallix is overall much more powerful than Turbo Mecha Sonic
Mark stated he could have won against emerald powered Yoshi without using the emerald while OG Mecha had trouble against normal Yoshi and, as this video shows, would have been destroyed by a emerald powered one

Haha that would be a HUGE challenge on my part! Mark's animation skills are really top-notch and hard to replicate. In fact, his animation gets progressively more complex every episode lol.
Don't worry practice makes perfect i'm sure he also got in a lot of practice while working on each episode

Absolutely nuts, no doubt about it. The fight wasn't as one-sided as the original was. The fight between Yoshi & Metal Sonic (or as the reboot goes: Metallix) was not only nostalgic but a HUGE upgrade from the original. The fight ended brutally as well, and man was it terrifyingly good.
Props to this guy, we actually got a super Yoshi. . .*kinda*

To be fair, Yoshi did put up a good fight in the reboot. The ending however was just brutal, poor Yoshi... 😨
You know... that kinda makes sense... I mean if the Koopa Bros can K.O. the entire cast with one Emerald, I don't see why Yoshi couldn't do the same to Mecha Sonic.

Well, to be fair, Metallix is very different in a lot ways from Mecha Sonic of the old series. Unlike the original, Metallix seems to get stronger passively the more emeralds he has as we see him get serious and stop dicking around with Yoshi during their fight. Mecha Sonic just sorta stayed the same power level wise throughout the old series no matter how many emeralds he had with the exception being when he uses the emeralds to go Super Mecha Sonic.

But its actually quite funny considering the major change in power Metallix got using the emerald, considering Yoshi was holding his own in his little Chaos Form
@@luketh2795 Well, I don't think it was a major change. I think that was just him drawing power from the emerald to use Chaos Control. It didn't seem like he got stronger when using the emerald, so I assume it was just a way to show he was drawing on the emerald to use Chaos Control (which the old series established that Chaos Control works better when used with a Chaos Emerald.)

He harnessed the power alright. But he still was beaten.
Mark must have seen this, but at least yoshi had a better chance at winning tapping into an emerald
And thus, with Mecha Sonic defeated, Yoshi teleports away to find and indulge himself to a large feast of berries and cookies, knowing that Yoshi’s Island and the entire Mushroom Kingdom is at peace once more.
Or so he thought...
What Yoshi didn’t know, is that Mecha Sonic still had the blue emerald he took from the innocent goomba he killed, and he would soon reawaken and use it to track Yoshi down. Meanwhile, Mario, Luigi, Sonic and Shadow are now searching for Yoshi after he didn’t return.
Can our heroes get to Yoshi in time?
Or will Mecha Sonic get there first?

If you ever do these reversed role battles animations again, my vote is for the heroes vs Koopa Bros fight that happened in the next episode. I can just imagine it in, the Black Ninjakoopa getting trampled at the beginning, the heroes getting tossed around...and a hedgehog + plumber stack!? I'm like gushing at the possibilities!

This video technically did come first before I knew anything about what will happen in reboot ep 2, but according to Mark's twitter reply, he already had the idea of Yoshi using an emerald years ago. In a way, I kinda predicted a portion of his idea.
In fact, I only did the emerald powering scene to kinda make a quick reason for the whole role reversal to happen. Little did I know that this will eventually happen in the reboot. 😅

Won’t lie. Back when I first watched SMBZ, I found it strange how Yoshi didn’t absorb the emerald’s power from eating it in the first place. Especially when you consider how it’s power never activated while he was fighting Mecha Sonic. Just something that had always been on my mind.
