Certainly the last great (punk)Rock n Roll group .....but with a lanky short sighted singer , a replacement drummer -Marky ,who always looked in pain & a selection of bad haircuts they certainly were not 'Cool' ... But ultimately it's down to the songs - & Ramones had plenty of good ones .
My first concert at 15 years old. The show was free, the sun was out, girls in polka dot skirts were hopping up and down, and the Ramones played their incendiary rock n roll punk. I was God smacked!
Missed this on the first showing of OGWT 1978 as I was returning from the actual show at Newcastle City Hall, then missed the Saturday repeat. So frustrating when folk were asking me if I caught the Ramones on UK TV back then. Wasn’t until about 15 years later I had it on a horrendous quality VHS bootleg tape. Praise the Lord for UA-cam.
Love this performance, if 3 of these songs were on it’s alive this is the speed they likely would be at. This is also I feel The perfect live speed for go mental
Just seen this for the first time.... Wow! Several shades of awesomeness!! RAMONES are the distilled essence of rock and roll! or.. Dem guys kick serious ass!!! 😄😎👍
This show was predominately prog rock and beardies 🤮🤮every now and then they had to put punks on it . Bob Harris the presenter always resented bands he didn’t like on there (funny) I watched this back in the day when we lived in Surbiton south London. First time I’d seen The Ramones.
I put my tape recorder by the telly and taped this when it came on back then in 1978 . I had the cassette for years. Saw the Ramones that year at the free trade Hall in Manchester and was probably best gig I ever saw .
Dee Dee plays an incredible bass on Don’t Come Close. Still to this day the coolest band in the world.
Ya he’s in the pocket like a mofo!
The little fills are great

Road to Ruin its my favorite album, and Mondo Bizarro y Ramones 1976
It's just insane how tight these guys were.
Best band USA has produced
i agree. i have them 3rd on my list of favourite artists. only Bowie and The Smiths i would place above them.
Thats for sure
And yet cruelly overlooked at home
@@robertexley5193 sad,good point
@@cigdamagelungs America always had the talent, but Britain had the more inventive mainstream of pop
Road to ruin is a brilliant album gazzramone
Go Mental is a super polished musical machine operating at perfect speed.
Johnny’s guitar on She’s the One is fanatical!
Can't describe how Ramones makes me feel every time I watch a "new" video ❤
She's the one version sounds so powerful 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thanks 4 upload this jewel
Look at Go Mental at Johnnys downstroking, so furious and fast I can feel the pain In my wrist watching it
Watching this again and again... I've gone mental

This version of Don't Come Close beats the non punky disappointing album filler version hands down 🤘🤘
Ramones...adrenaline
So much better than the recordings.
Love how clearly you can hear the bass lines on this recording.
Ramones at their best
Nós latinos amamos os Ramones!🤘
YAY ANOTHER VERSION OF DONT COME CLOSE!!! One of my favorite ramones songs
I saw Ramones live in 1987, how great well its- hard to say but very special.
great performance
Goddamn. Johnny and Dee Dee play so simply, but there has been nothing like them and their playing has its own sound, it’s impossible to recreate.
Old Grey Whistle Test from 1971 to 1988. Make a music program like this today again pls with real musicians and artists!
Bob Harris was a Bell End 🔔
@@LarryBishop69 What makes you say that? Didn't you like him?
@@Milan-rc9on Openly contemptuous of bands he didn’t like (New York Dolls etc) and had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the Punk era .

Thank you. They took this off UA-cam years ago. 🖤
Yeah, that's why I put it back up... a real shame to lose this one

That recording actually sounds exactly as many described their sound.
Listen carefully.

Ahí los ramones se zarpaban pero Johnny Ramone le da el sonido del Rock and Roll para todas las generaciones.
Sempre que eu ouço a linha de baixo dessa canção meus olhos enchem de lágrimas. ❤
RAMONES ETERNO RAMONES
Ha ha, Johnny made a mistake at 3:21. He's supposed to stay at G. I always make the same mistake in that song!
Yup, lol. You don't often see Johnny grab the wrong chord, but it's really easy to do that in this song
@@HardlyRamone really
I wonder if Dee Dee slapped him up for it the way Johnny would have done to him. Love this band.
El error le da su toque también, quedó más punk.
