Practical tips on keeping safe keep some JIF lemon spray in your bag a squirt in someones eyes might just give you time to get away but keep your phone on & ready to record is probably the best deterrent.......one thing I like to try when faced with something negative ( Im not very good at this) is turning it into a positive for eg this negative experience could drive you to become fitter or take up kick boxing rxxxxxxxxxx Good luck xxxxxxxxxxx

How scary good job you were alert I'm old enough to be your mum and in the 70 early 80 it was awful when I was 15 I got dragged from behind luckily I had the family German shepherd and she went for him take care ❤

Yeah of course. Hubby is great we are very secure at the house anyway but have added extra layers. The police presence has been fab since too, I’ve seen them at least twice a day, & tonight Police horses Xo
I walk through these particular woods twice a week.. good on you for getting up that hill. I can’t even walk up it without having to stop a few times. How terrifying!
To add to this, if you have your keys on you, put them in your fist and a sharp one poking through between your knuckles, then if anyone approaches you, get stabby with it. It won’t cause much damage, but it’ll Bloomin hurt them. Me and my mum were discussing this in front of her partner and my friend who is also a man.. they had no idea us girls have to think about stuff like this! X

I sent before I had finished, even men I didn't know, I never told anyone just carried on but inside I was a mess,I started to cry at the doctors one day ,she was so good and couldn't believe how I had stayed quiet, she got me help,I met my husband and I am happy but I have a lock on my bedroom door, I can't even have a workman in the house if I am on my own ,I only walk in crowded areas and yes I carry a item with me always, my life has been shaped around keeping myself safe,I could write a book but the things that have happened are almost hard to believe and the men that did the things, hope they all rot in hell,sending you a big hug Kate, ❤

That is really scary, many years ago ( about 50) two of my friends and I were flashed at by a man and he followed us for ages until we saw some adults that we tagged on behind. I can’t believe that we didn’t report it but I was only 10 and wasn’t really allowed to go where we were. That scared feeling does come back to me sometimes if I go somewhere lonely. Aww Suzanne I’m so glad you are ok but a scare like that never leaves you as I have experienced myself many years ago I was walking through the park with my niece who was around 2yrs old & I heard a noise in the bushes as I was crossing a bridge & when I looked towards the bush I seen a man playing with his penis & watching me (I was 18)I picked my niece up and ran I was petrified & there was nobody else around. I got home but I was too embarrassed to tell anyone because of what he was doing so I kept it to myself. I carry a personal alarm in my pocket when I go out, I get them from Amazon 3 keyrings for £10 and they are loud - everyone should get them xx

Years ago I was coming off shift at midnight got in my car to drive home, it was pitch black and driving along the country lanes this car was behind me getting closer he got right up my backside and started flashing his lights, so I put my foot down so is he, I drove to the police station and he sped off, it was bloody scary. The police followed me home to make sure I got home safe. Bloody nutters out there!

Sounds like you've had a lucky escape. I hope the police find out who he is. He could be a potential danger to other women walking in the woods. Not sure about carrying a weapon. I once heard it's best not to. Because if you become overpowered during an attack. Your own weapon can be used against you. Hope you're doing OK after this ordeal xx
So 1st does the event house have CCTV? Good place to start. Next can you carry mace in UK? I have a small mace that is on my car keys and it is perfect. My best advice is also “fuck politeness “. As women we are taught to be non confrontational, screw that!!!! If someone would do that to me, I would turn around and be loud and cause a scene. We need to start to prove we are not the weaker sex and we will stand up as we deserve to walk where we want, say what we want, wear want we want and they fact they can’t control themselves or feel are easy targets is a “them problem” not a “me problem”.
