You do realize samsung has never calibrated their oled phones. Sense forever? But hey you needed two phones.
@@18matts this is silly. I've proven time and time again that they do calibrate the screens. Doesn't mean perfectly to the standard but they do.
@@EricaGriffin buying two 1400 phones to inspect color differences is silly. And if you've proven they calibrate. Why did you spend another 14 hundred to see if they are calibrated

Yeah, no other reviewer cares nearly as much about the display as Erica. Considering how much time using the phone is looking at the screen, I think it's one of the most important aspects that's too often overlooked.

Yeah. Same here. I know I could trade my still pristine Note 9 for $550 off but to me this is the last of its kind: the no holds barred, everything but the kitchen sink, all inclusive, no compromise, Note. I might take a look at the Note 20 Ultra down the road after the bugs are worked out and the price comes down, but at this point in time the Note 9 meets all of my needs and then some.
Agreed, I'm rocking my galaxy s9 plus with headphone jack as well.
@@gtorres1719 i stopped using the headphone jack 2 years ago on my s9, the jack is cumbersome
@@medstar1260 I could never blame anyone for sticking with the Note 9 I've had the 9, 10 and now 20, in the future I might wait for every other release.
I upgraded to an S20 Ultra from the Note9 and haven't looked back. The 120Hz made me hate looking at the janky 60Hz on the Note9 xD It was a really solid phone though with an awesome camera that improved with updates and will probably still keep going strong for a while. Also the screen on the ultra is so much brighter and more colour accurate 😍

I'm so glad you mentioned uniformity, I got my first AMOLED phone a couple years ago and everyone was hyping these screens but mine was awful in low light, grainy and with many bands. Unfortunately all too common but not talked about much
I just watched you're review and i pulled the case off my phone was curious where it was made yep mine was also made in Vietnam weird what are the odds? I don't really see green tint on mine or gaps as well nice unboxing video Erica looking forward to the review ! glad you are back doing reviews miss these types of videos !

Hey Erica! Love your reviews for the attention to details. Back in the days, when I had Galaxy S4 mini (it was my first phone with AMOLED), I was so disappointed: that green tint was extremely strong, in addition I had "dirty/sandy" image effect and weird lines on grey backgrounds; it was like a torture to me. I had to return S4 mini and buy the regular S4 (Exynos). That green tint was much less noticeable, but I still had weird lines and some pink tint in status bar area. At the moment I thought that I am the only one who sees that, because all big reviewers were like "this screen is awesome, incredible, fantastic, blah-blah-blah". A few years later I bought Note 4 (Exynos), and it was like night and day: whites were much more pure, and overall display quality was nice. Last year I bought Galaxy S10+ (Exynos), and again: it was like night and day, so much better. Luckily, this time I don't have any noticeable tints and lines. (Although, it seems that whites on AMOLEDs are still greener than on perfectly calibrated IPS (hi, Apple) Sad to see that Samsung still has units with the same problems I had years ago.

Since you’ve had a little break for the last couple generations, I’m excited to see a display comparison to whatever your next newest Samsung phone is if possible? I’m specifically interested in near black performance. Oh and, are haptics better now too? I have a note9 and the only thing that lets me down is the feel of the haptics. Samsung hadn’t matched or gotten anywhere near close to the feel of the iPhone haptics yet! No one talks about it though...
If the haptic feedback on the Note 9 is anything like what's on the S9 Plus which I had before I got a Note 20 Ultra, then yes, it's completely different, much nicer.

And I would absolutely love to know how good is the HDR10 recording with these cameras too!!

Finally, a detailed Erica review! Please test the battery life on the phone, both with adaptive refresh rate on at 1080P, as well as standard 60 Hz at QHD. Please also take note (no pun intended) of the per hour and overnight battery drain while on standby. Thanks!
I just watched a video on how to keep 120 refresh and medium power saving using Bixby routines, I'm not sure how well it works but I'm giving it a shot.

Regarding the artifacts in lowlight greys, try 60hz and youll see most of those disappear. I think 120 introduces a lot of abnormalities.
If you have time, please check out how it performs on macro photography? How close you can get to the subject, and how much detail you get. Also not simply using "auto" macro detection, but pro mode with wide lens and manual focus on the shortest setting (best way to take non-processed macro shots). Thank you!

You are the reason I got and still use the Note3. Been rocking it since 2013. Why Samsung has done away with some of their great features like the sd card skot and the infra red blaster The Headphone Jack replacable battery.... UGGHHH .. I love the pen AND I use the ir blaster every day. Cant stand having a locked bootloader so it seems the carrier will eventually fade my signal out since We CANT update the SDR due to the bootloader being locked. Really enjoy the content Erica.

Whats amazing is the galaxy buds lives. So comfortable. Though not sure why its noise cancelling. I can't tell switching it on and off.
Love my note 20 plus.... Haven't noticed any sort of issues. Should I have noticed some by now, have had them since launch.
Skin tone or overall camera quality comparisons between the front and rear cameras. Particularly with selfies. I've seen some reviews where the camera quality differed noticeably.
Have the mystic black... no gaps.
May I assume you have the Snapdragon variant.
Can you pay particular attention to battery and screen on time along with any warming up of the upper part of the phone.

I've called Samsung out on this and was told to send my phone back and purchase another. I compared the Note 20 ultra to the s20 white screen and it was a major difference, night and day. I've found a some what fix in settings if you adjust the white balance more to the blue the white get so much better and looks alot whiter then the s20. Needless to say Samsung needs to fix this in a software update , which I think they can but we also need them to hear and see so thanks for the video. Hopefully I helped aswell
problem is yes you can adjust the whites in vivid mode but then the colors are sturated haha. wish we can adjust it in natural mode
I also have missed her doing review's to the point where she could of done a review about a previous review and I would of been on board with that.
Looking at mine I see a small gap between the back glass and the body. I don't think I could get a finger nail in there though (my nails are too short to test).
It is an amazing phone. Just a little big for me for pockets?
