    At Florida TMS Clinic we treat depression differently. We use TMS or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. TMS is an effective, proven treatment for depression that is FDA approved and covered by insurance. TMS is safe and has no systemic side effects. While antidepressant medications and psychotherapy can be helpful for some, many others don't respond to medications and therapy. Some others may not be able to tolerate the side effects of medications. TMS therapy is a drug-free alternative treatment for depression. We love what we do! We enjoy seeing our patients blossom throughout their treatment course with TMS therapy.

      @@floridatmsclinic1239 can TMS work for anxiety?

      @@koliver3511 A particular type of TMS called dTMS using H1 coil is FDA cleared for anxious depression (anxiety associated with depression). Off-label (not FDA cleared), we routinely use right-sided low-frequency rTMS for anxiety with a high rate of success. This will a topic of a future video.

      @@floridatmsclinic1239 i have GAD. Does TMS apply to me. Does high rate of success mean curing of anxiety and never come back, or reduce the anxiety to a level that the patients can handle. Do you have patients that are improved , but the anxiety comes back after stopping the treatment?

    • @floridatmsclinic1239
      @floridatmsclinic1239  2 роки тому +1

      @@koliver3511 The answer is all of the above. We had patients who received TMS a couple of years ago and are still in remission. We had patients who had partial improvement, and we had others who did not respond to TMS. Mental Health Disorders are chronic illnesses (like diabetes and hypertension), we aim to manage them, when we get them under control we call it remission not cure.

    It’s essentially micro-dosed ECT. I’ve been depressed pretty much since my adolescence. Thanks to a few antidepressants, in particular Bupropion, it has it is not as bad and most of my sadness stems from situational stress. I don’t believe there’s such a thing as “super-happiness “; we’re not meant to experience it in this lifetime. Just my take. I’d pass on this; besides, the cost is PROHIBITIVE!!!😱😱😱😱😱$$$$$$$

      I am 1 week in to my TMS treatment and it is much more painful than I was expecting. I was told uncomfortable or irritating. It was excruciating. I am requiring a high strength. I broke down and sobbed horribly after my first treatment and for my 2nd they had to drop the level down. They are trying to slowly bring it back up and hopefully I will be able to tolerate it. I’ve started bringing things with me to help distract me. Someone talking to me throughout helps me the most. Too soon to know if it’s helping. Fingers crossed since it’s expensive, time consuming and painful. But if it removes or even lessens my severe depression it will be worth jt.

    What about the people whose headaches don't go away? What about people who feel worse? What about the people whose lives are disrupted permanently? I don't think it is ethical to act like this type of therapy is harmless when we don't even know the long term effects. When lobotomy and etc were first put into use, they were touted as harmless too. We don't even understand exactly how this works so how am I supposed to trust the most valuable aspect of my being to this?

    • @floridatmsclinic1239
      @floridatmsclinic1239  2 роки тому +6

      Totally lost me when you brought up lobotomy. I am not sure if you are really asking questions or just feeding into a conspiracy theory of TMS causing serious harm. There are plenty of social media outlet that support nonsense conspiracies about mental health, vaccines, microchips, 5G.. etc. This channel is not one of them. Happy yo answer any question based on science papers.

      Reading the extensive literature and patient testimonials is vital to understanding any therapy/treatment.
      I personally love that I am able to reduce the burden of significant amounts of time and money spent on traditional therapies.
      For me, my Complex PTSD, GAD, Panic Disorder Syndrome, and Major Depressive Disorder… my mental health and managing it through talk therapy, biofeedback, medicinal therapy became my ENTIRE LIFE, my ENTIRE PAYCHECK.
      With Appointments daily, a lot of medications frequently, other costly treatments for years left me feeling……. Blah-Ok, different, embarrassed, and dependent on meds, and still having breakthrough panic attacks or depressive flares. It’s an expensive burden financially, socially, mentally, physically, and family dynamics. Managing these things has taken my life away from me.
      The short amount of time I’ve been doing TMS therapy is overwhelmingly different than anything. I told my SO this morning “It feels like cobwebs and dust is coming off my brain, there’s less fog- less heavy.”
      I’m still doing Biofeedback because I believe that it helps me as I am an empath and sensitive to others energies. It’s a skill everyone should learn.
      But dang, I’m ready to be off these meds when the time is right working closely with my psychiatrist and doctors. Not spending ALL my money and time and energy on feeling at best okay, while being dependent on pharmaceutical companies.
      Literature, and educating oneself on the procedure really does wonders. Gives me hope for the future of people with these conditions.
      It’s similar to all the psilocybin studies and how it teaches your brain to make new connections, significantly helps with neuroplasticity and breaking up old unhealthy pathways.
      Again, I just started TMS but I know 1000% that TMS is in no way even close to a Lobotomy.

      You’ll be waiting at least a century before we start to understand how the brain actually works. Pretty much any mental health treatment a doctor will not be able to tell you exactly how it works.
