The Sykes is a handsome old girl, but doesn`t hold a candle to the Edward L. Ryerson, now retired & docked in Duluth Harbor area. The Ryerson is a 'straight decker' & does not have that ugly off-loading boom topside......
@@briangrondin1978 With her flush deck, streamlined stack & the forward/rear 'canted' antenna masts, the Ryerson represents a lovely example of Art Deco ship design. There is a very interesting drone 'harbor tour' video which hovers over her layed-up in Duluth (on You Tube), which is worth your search. Hope the City Of Duluth buys her & turns her into a maritime museum with curio shops & eateries etc., which would be a nice added draw to this historic shipping area. Continued Happy Ship Spotting !
I'm sure I will have lots of fun making an awesome papercraft of your ship, Captain Treece. ^^ I already made Edward L. Ryerson in two scales, both turned out something off the beaten track, absolutely world class, looking amazing, and Sykes will be NO exception.
I know it is impossible but I wish we could somehow save all of them. I also wish I could go on a couple of trips on.one of these ships. Heck I'd do dishes , paint, do anything. I would not eat much either. I live on southern tip of Lake Michigan ,.with north winds it gets rough as can be.
Stunning photography! Beautiful old ship, I hope they keep her running.
The ship is apparently in fantastic shape.
Fantastic video. Again thank you for sharing all these videos with all of us who like Great Lakes Ships.
Beautiful ship
Stellar work with the drone !
What a wonderful video, the music was a nice addition
Yikes, she was christened on my birthday 6/28/1949. Now my top favorite ship. I can’t wait until she is actively sailing again!
Best looking boat on the lakes (says me).
Brian Grondin She is a beauty!!

@@blusnuby2 I totally agree with you on the Ryerson.

Absolutely fantastic, ET! Thanks so much for sharing.
Awesome video
I love your work Eric! I know these places. In one your vids, a ship passes by "The Rez" on Walpole Island, Ontario.

Still have not seen her move this year. Hope to see her in Grand Haven.
Is that you operating the drone @ 1:15 sitting on that deck hatch?
Last one to sail out of Escanaba.
Sad not to see ship traffic anymore.
Wilfredo Sykes is my favorite Twitter follow! Good work Eric!
My dad's cousin was on her back in the day. More than once we went out to Port Inland to see Duke
Inland steel, Indiana Harbor was her first owners.
