  • In the early twentieth-century the transformative, influential ideas from modern culture and ideas led to an explosion of new, radical, and innovative styles in art. This is when the modern age completes its break away from the 500 year old, artistic dominance of the Renaissance.
This video explores the evolution of art from around the first decade of the 1900s and highlights revolutionary art movements such as Cubism, Fauvism, Futurism and Abstract Art.
Discover how artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Brancusi, Kandinsky, Duchamp and others contributed to a new and changing artistic landscape culminating with the Armory show of 1913 which exposed the United States to the radical new European Modernism.

The early 20th century was from January 1st 1901 to April 31st 1934. These start and end dates apply to all centuries. Since there was no year zero. So the year 1 BC, was followed by the year 1 AD.

Gaudier Brzeska! If he hadn't been killed in WW1 we'd have been spared Henry Moore.
