    I've watched your newer videos lately. This one popped up on the feed so I clicked. This one is BY FAR the best one!!! Why? Your interactions with the boys, letting them "participate" (drive the buggy & watch your shots), & you showing us just what it takes to make this ridiculous shot! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

    Fletchings bud, less helical smaller fletchings and believe it or not you might need to up your field point weight to keep KE down range. The air drag on light arrows will keep them from going as far. Some simple physics equations will get you out to record ranges 👍

  • @MrArcher0

    Other things to try:
    Going to a No-Peep sight - takes the weight off your string.
    Targets at both ends for more shooting opportunities.
    No helical on your arrows reduces drag / trimming down vains to half their height. Still stable flight at 250 for me.

    Chris search for "clout mirror sight", they are designed for long range shooting (clout/flag). You replace your regular sight with clout sight, basically small periscope with elevation adjustment. Lower mirror is fixed and upper you can adjust angle for elevation. This way you don't have to move sight down, in arrow path.

    • @renatugaming5730
      @renatugaming5730 3 роки тому

      yea, but he did it over a long field, he also used a 80 pound compound. Wind drift is crucial to shoot outdoors at that distance, so minimum drag but decent weight is going to help with that, especially if the arrow has to take a few seconds to reach 500 yards.

And the amazing amount of land ..god some kids are so dam spoiled ... and before you go saying oh I pay for all that.. well that’s bullshit that’s a 25-30k dollar Polaris and a $1600 bow with the best accessories ...that’s my two on this video..I just can’t watch lol

    I read somewhere the Turkish army still had archers in the late 1800s and these guys had matches to see who could shoot the farthest. IIRC they had lighter arrows for these matches and the record was something like 800 yards. Those bows are called Turkish bow in Turkey, Asian bows elsewhere, but essentially the technology of these composite bows is over 3,000 years old - as it was what Odysseus used in the end of the Odyssey story (~by Homer) when he kills his rivals (the bachelors) that were trying to claim his estate and wife, with that bow. The moral of this all is, long distance is a very old concept, lighter arrows (thinner?) may fly farther, and a flying object goes farther with some tail wind, I guess. Odysseus's bow could easily kill a bull in hunting. It had a core layer of wood, with the ears laminated with horn on the archer's side and laminated with sinew on the other side. It must have been extremely expensive back then, and was sensitive to moisture. That must have been the reason he did not bring it to war in the Iliad, but left it at home in his treasure vault room - or some battle ethics maybe. These bows are hard to string if you do not know the trick how to do it - part of the pantomime fun in ~Homer's story. Anyhow, nice video and nice collaboration with the kids.

    You can find the angle you should be shooting at in order to hit your 350+ yards by using projectile motion equations. It might sound a little bit in the nerd side but if you know the initial speed of your arrow and its weight, you can have a pretty good estimate of the angle you need to hit your target or if you would even reach that far. I really like your channel! Keep posting

    You need to clean those arrows and the points EVERY time before you launch them. Being jammed into the ground you are adding weight by having dirt granules stuck to the arrows or in the joint between the arrow and tip or in/around the fletching. Especially for hunting, I clean my arrows and points every time I get set up in the treestand/ground blind. Just walking in your arrows are picking up dirt, bark, etc and is throwing off the weight/balance and thus your aim. Little piece of bark/dirt stuck in the mating point of one of your fletching is going to make a difference even at 20 yards.
