Awesome to hear you got sober and are having fun with archery!
I picked up my first compound bow just a year ago - a 400 dollar PSE starter bow. I found John through Joe Rogan, as so many others, and I went through his beginners classes youtube videos, over and over and over. He taught me how to adjust my draw length, draw weight and scope. Today, I confidently land 90 % of all arrows within a 10 inch diameter, at 30+ yards, with just basic beginners equipment at hand. I never had a coach. I never went to a club. I never had any help outside of John Dudley. I hope he knows how much he helps people all around the world. Much much appreciated🙏 /from Sweden
I’ve been shooting a bow for little over ten years and I have learned more from him in this past 2 years from listening to him, than I have in the entirety of my archery lifestyle. Thank you John Dudley! 🤘🏼 Nock On
You learnt more in 20% of your short time shooting a bow than you did in the 80%? And you attribute it to listening to podcasts? Could it not be the 80/20 rule?
Great video. I am trying to learn to shoot a bow and don’t know where I would be without Dudley’s willingness to share information and educate newbies like myself.
Dudley is a great seller. You don't even notice the ads when watching his content. Amazing in my point of view. In addition, he managed to resell the Carter Evolution release as a new release by cutting of the third finger. Brilliant! That's innovation at it's best. He is a true selling legend.
I have learnt so much from Mr Dudley and his UA-cam channel. I now shoot with a silverback release. Just wish I lived in the States and not Australia some times. Would love to meet the man, so much respect for him for what he is and has done for the community.
Dudley is amazing. And to think he teaches so much for free on UA-cam and other social platforms. Great dude, hope to meet him someday and just shake his hand.
I watched a lot of John's videos and him talking about using a handheld release gave me the confidence to try it. I shoot a three finger release and killed my biggest buck ever about a month ago. Really made me a more accurate shooter
To echo's Rogan's sentiment in this video, Dudley is undoubtedly the most influential figure in modern archery. Fundamentals and tactics used to be debated or kept secret. Dudley has put his experience out there for the world to learn from and it' had the direct effect of doubling and even tripling the effective range of the average archer who puts these teachings to work.
I remember when I was young they taught archery in junior high with a fiberglass long bow with a plastic handle. That was 58 years ago. I got pretty good with it and dad bought me my first and only recurve Fred Bear bow, 32 lb draw weight. I must have shot a hundred arrows a day. One day dad brought home a bow for him. It was a 48 lb draw weight Fred Bear recurve. He would come home from work and shoot 1 arrow, then put his bow up. Every day he did the same thing. One day I asked him why he only shot 1 arrow. He told me you only get one shot, it has to be right. We hunted with bows before it got popular in the mid 80’s. Loved hunting with my dad. I know how this guy feels!
Dudley is really unbelievable. By simply incorporating his suggested bow grip techniques and using his custom arrows from Nock on Archery have made a tremendous difference in my shooting. Thank you, John Dudley.
I actually went as cheap as possible and bought a sit drag to couple with my muddy harness and attached a couple camo poncho bags to it to carry my ropes and made my own DIY saddle that I am anxious to try out this bow season. I have already climbed some trees with it and I am very pleased with how easy and fast it is to get in the tree and how versatile it is. Also I carry three of the longer lone wolf sticks with the seat off my lone wolf assault attached to the top of my third stick as my platform. Its tons lighter and faster so I am hoping to have success with it this season. Wish me luck!!
I haven't gotten my 1st deer. I have been hunting for 15 years. I just love going through all the steps. And I decided that I just love shooting my bow. I watch all his stuff. He is by far the at the top of his game. His is a steward of his passion.

Honestly such a bad ass story and upbringing, everyone has their own interpretations on his story and stuff but in my mind I see him as a child being taught at a young age to hunt with his family and as he gets older he takes on his apprenticeship with these other professional shooters and goes on to become one of the worlds best archers and winning medals and tournaments mastering the art of the bow and arrow , he realizes that hunting and the feeling of being out on the mountain stalking animals is what he loves doing. He goes on to train his body and mind to withstand the harsh conditions of the weather and nature. He then goes on to master the mountains, the animals, his body, his mind, his bow, and becomes a real hunting master. This guy is the real deal the best of the best, the amount of work he puts in to working out for these hunts is incredible and then he goes and tracks and stalks animals climbing mountains, walking through the dense woods, and walking up massive hill sides for miles and miles and miles. He has the natural talent He has the experience He has put in all the work He keeps on grinding

Nock on Brother ! I'm 57 years old and Deer Hunted since I was 10 with my Dad in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina . My first Bow was a Fred Bear 30lb Long bow and learned to instinct shoot from there ! I've become sorta of go to guy in my area because i learned to read the woods and Listen to what was being said . I went where no one else cared to go because it was Miles or Thick cover or too much for the masses. And i may not bring out but one ,,, but whata one ! I was third in N.C. for several yrs. with shooting a 548 lb black Bear with a rifle in 2012. And to be honest I woulda had the record for Bow with him ,but wouldn't take that 40yd shot which is all he would give me . But Now at 57 ,,, I'm enduring 4 back surgeries 01 total Total disk replacement in my neck . stainless right ankle , bad knees and this year I gave up Bow Hunting and Bought a Barnett 410 ghost,,, it's cool in the yard at 410 fps,,, but it's loud and not my Matthews Legacy ... I've already put a 8 on the ground with a rifle ,,, but it's not Bow hunting .... I hurt Constantly ,,,, but I know it's not getting better sitting here ... I may have to get that Legacy out and start shooting again ... watching this video , I don't think I'm ready to be put out to pasture yet ,,, Be ever mindful of what the timber is saying and take the time to listen ,,,, Nock On ! Brother !

This video was very inspiring! I just started bow hunting and have been watching all the School of Nock videos. Thank you for all the great information!
John dudley tips are SICK! I mean that in good way. "Inspiring" to say the least. took few years off from compound shooting. Went to long and recurve bows. getting a new compound. Back to it.
I worked as an archery tech for a year and when I ran into any issues or something would have me scratching my head. Dudley’s videos were my first and last stop. Problem solved. Great teacher and great dude got to meet him a few years ago at monster buck classic. Keep the videos rolling
Survival is the same thing to me. Dark to dark. Day in day out. It doesn't pay the bills, I have 6 kids and a wife. I have a full time job, 9 hours a day...but my mind is always on something else...something outdoors.
The whole "archery hunting is just find the animal and put an arrow in it" is something i was told many times. I told them the rifle is the easiest to take an animal. The general hunter around here gets their rifle out about 2 weeks before season, checks zero then harvest an animal. Meanwhile i was spending everyday after work putting 40 to 60 arrows on target so i could keep my muscles in tune so i knew that when the shot, during deer or whatever i was hunting, presented itself that my shot was on target. My first deer was a doe 2 months after being in Iraq. I spent every day from homecoming to that kill practicing. She walked out of some brush at 15 yards and i put that arrow thru her lungs and she dropped less than 50 yds away. The sheer adrenaline rush and so called hunters high was beyond belief. I was in tears to be able to bring all the practice and determination to a successful freezer fill.
You just said it all, brother. And Dudley is an inspiration in so many ways. But I bet you didn't down your first deer or your last one with a $200 "custom" release. I'm all about a man being rewarded financially for his hard work, but....really? (I love your comment either way lol!)
@@craigbrewer433 I like them, but then my standards aren't all that high. I started shooting a bow when I was 14, won a few tournaments, but didn't hunt until I got older. I just want an arrow that fits me and flies straight. The manufacturing and technology is SO much better than when I started I feel like anything I buy is better than I had 35 years ago, and even with those heavy old aluminum arrows, a cheap Indian "Archer" and 3 pin sights (no peep) I managed to put thousands of shots into the bull. So it's all gravy these days! lol

Another archer to check out is Lars Andersen. He has studied ancient texts and manuscripts of archery when it began. He can shoot.3 arrows in .6 seconds. He is truly phenomenal. Check out his video on youtube. You will be amazed
Wow! Inspiration. Respect 🤘🏼. Excellent video, thank you 😊

What a great video and life story!!!
4:29 Thanks for blowing my ear-drums out. Other than that great video keep it up.
Brother !
Sam Bowman devotion is key persistence is paramount

Man this is one of the best videos I’ve seen. And master Dudley is a great man with so much knowledge that the man has no problem sharing #nockonnation 🤘🏻
He's amazing, this showcased it perfectly! He's my favorite dude!!! Born to teach!
This video was very inspiring! I just started bow hunting and have been watching all the School of Nock videos. Thank you for all the great information!
John D is legit..hands down best to me..learned so much from his videos
How would he have done against the best American of the past without all the fancy gear on the bow?
I had never seen this channel....I haven't shot in years. But loved it when I did.
Hell yeah. Get it Dudley!!!!!
The Jedi himself, Cheer's to you mate!

Great video! John Dudley is a beast!
His whitetail mounts are beautiful.
John Dudley is a badass.
@@jakemitchell1671 i used a $600 Darton bow with a $30 cobra wrist strap release. All with cheap $2 walmart carbon arrows
@@craigbrewer433 LOVE IT!! I still use a Mission bow, and I bet I own 2 dozen of those Walmart arrows!
@@jakemitchell1671 i swore by them when i used them. Better than the Easton arrows or even the Carbon Express
So it's all gravy these days! lol
Good stuff right there, thanks!
