I didn't necessarily want to like your video bc I have seen all these polished planting how to care for bromeliads videos and yours was dying lol. However THAT was the point! You made this look easy and I do like your method of separating the pups. I find it especially nice that you will give the clone pups to friends in the new year.
I’m not an expert, but when you remove pups from the mother plant, you don’t just tear them off. You need to use an exacto knife or razor to remove the pup and the roots. I hope your pups do well with no roots 🤷🏼♀️
That is great thank you for the comment however pups and mother plant have their own root and need to be separated gently to avoid damaging the roots and I agree with you a X acto blade is a helpful tool, That Plant gave me 5 pups and 2 didn't make it but 3 of them did wonderful thanks for asking about them.🌻🌺🌼🌷
I'm looking this up because my mil has one but left it without sun. The root seems to be in good standing but all the brown came right off (literally). Is hers completely gone or will the root system pick back up if I bring it home and take care of it? I'm lost. I no nothing about these plants. I saved all the brown aged parts too. Maybe I sound completely ridiculous but I honestly have zero clue about this. Give me a lemon seed or tomatoes and I can make it grow but this one is far from my league. For some flowers picking off the dead parts will help save energy for new growth? Is it the same for this or is mine a lost cause?
@@sigmasix3719 it was goner before I took it home and out of the pot 😭. Thankfully, I've learned more since then ❤️ it wasn't mine but my MILs and I was trying tying to save it for her. I appreciate your comment. Next time will be better!!!!! 🤞
What happens if u dont take the pups out!!!??? Mine never bloomed & the middle started dieing . so i cut the middle half way down. Then 2 weeks later i got a pup!😲😁 but i still have the mother in the same pot. & the mother leafs are still good & bringht green. But the middle is brown. What do i do now????!!!😲😳😳
What kind of soil did you use? Bromeliads grown indoors thrive in fast-draining potting soil that holds moisture but drains well. A mixture of two-thirds peat-based soil and one-third sand is often ideal. You can also use orchid mix, charcoal, or soilless potting mix
demonstration / explanation was very good 🤔 ... BUT think about overlaying the audio in editing 😳 ... I’m not a big fan of grunts & groves with heavy breathing 😏
@@adarealestateteamkellerwil7923 Don't change anything!!! That was great from a beginner's perspective. Watching you do that made it totally worth while. We are all scared to do the "damage" to get to the next step. I loved your presentation!!!
You can also use a 50 / 50 mix of orchid bark and standard potting soil. Bromeliads aren't picky just make sure you don't over water it the root easily.
Why so rough Ugh 🙄 Hate how you made it seem like they are such a pain in the ass calling them a fungus smh...and then u even threw the mother away even though she was still living and would produce more pups the next year...yuck...Even though the mother of mine produced 2 pups that I propogated, I kept her and she is now giving me 3 more, her flower dead and all
I did this same thing cause I was passing and saw this plant saw a pup and ripped it the same way and it is doing great now, great video
Very inspiring thanks, I found four puppies on my plant and successfully re transplanted them thanks to your video

Well you have to keep it in a pot and keep it moist but not wet and see if it gets better.

Kelly that a great Question the mother plant and pup must be separated otherwise both will die.
I did what you showed and they all died, what did I do wrong?
