Good morning Hurd Herd 🌞 I pray that all is well with you! Thank you Dan for sharing ahead of time! Be blessed and Merry Christmas everyone, if I don't post before then 🎄🎋
I love seeing videos with MBMM a ton! They are some of my favorites. I just wish I could see more of the process of smelting and cupling in the videos! I love seeing the metal bubbling and turning liquid, and then seeing the bead at the end! I'd also love to see the inside of the impact mill if it's possible to open it up one day!
Go to Jason's channel "MBMMLLC". Mount Baker Mining and Metal is a manufactrurer of mining and scrap metal processing machines including hammer mills. Some of his earlier videos explain how his hammer mills work and show the internal workings.
Just A tip for smeltning... If you put a peice of paper under the crucible before you light the furnace, the crucible wont stick to the brick underneath when its time for the pour. The ashes basically act like flour on a pizza pan lessening sticking. 😎👍
Yeah I REALLY enjoy these collab videos. I like seeing the prospecting aspect of it but I also very much enjoy watching and learning about the smelting and purification, seeing a nice gold bead or button at the end :) I love just looking at gold lol. I never understand why people have complained in the past about Dan showing gold too much.
Fascinating stuff guys. :) I live in Wales where the earth is rich with 'dirty quartz'. The gold particularly is numerous here. (The continental plates drifting means the Welsh mountains are actually the very same geologically, as those on the US coast i believe.) I'm not far from the Dolocouthi goldmines - the reason the Romans came to Wales! They do a wonderful tour of the mines, both the Roman history and that of the much later mining in the last few centuries. The machinery is staggeringly big from the latter era. I'd love to have a go at the process to extract precious metals from Welsh quartz one day, and perhaps even have a pan in some of the beautiful mountain rivers. :)
Much the same in Scotland, in particular the Leadhills. I don't know about Wales, but in Scotland, most of the gold mining is owned by royalty. You used to be able - back in the 80s and 90s - to purchase a gold panning licence for 1 year at a cost of £15.00 per year in the Leadhills. You could.d take a guided tour of the mine then visit the museum and see the appalling conditions they lived in in their wee cottages. Where they slept and died of lead poisoning. By the way, I bought myself an annual ticket to pan in 1996. The gold is still in the burns yet 😂 I was totally useless 😂
Boy id be checking that hammer mill for chunks that might have got stuck . A couple chunks mashed into a corner could change everything. But i guess you guys probably thought of that. Plus i do love the collab vids. You and Jason ,Brett, and Jeff and Pauli, were pretty much all i watched forever. And seeing you guys working together is way cool. Keep'm coming. Maybe you'll find a mine like Jasons pretty soon.
I LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS IN THE SMELTING CONTAINER, IT LOOKS LIKE THE SURFACE OF THE SUN. THAT WOULD MAKE A VERY AWESOME PICTURE IF IT WAS THE SIZE OF A POSTER. ESPECIALLY IF IT WAS IN HIGH DEFINITION. maybe even a live screen saver on a phone. DEFINITELY wild looking
Everytime I see the Rock Crusher, I hear "NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM" Wonderful 😊👍 So calming.. Love to watch you Dan. Always Great content.. please never stop.. After SREETIPS you're my second "Gold refining" Channel.. Greetings from the Swiss Alps 👋
So, the thing about silver with Galena is that I would expect, from a chemistry perspective, for there to be very very little native silver in the galena--if it's in there, it would also be in the sulphide form, because silver forms sulphides pretty easily. So when there's galena coming off the table, there's silver too, but in the sulphide form. Which is why at places like Cerro Gordo, they had to smelt it all -- very little native silver. That's just my inner chemist talking, though -- not much of a geologist :) :)
Hey Dan, Always fun to see what you are up to. I always enjoy seeing Jason working the equipment to the point of gold buttons. Little bit of disappointment in the end results of some of the ore samples, but that is life when prospecting / mining ! Looking forward to the samples from the Sarra Gordo. Take Care
I'd like to see you do a dream claim pan then go see Jason. I'd love to see a few gold pans getting smelted down for a nice pyramid or golf ball size of gold. And I can't remember but did you ask Andy about trailer and 35g and hopefully your truck can handle the gvw weight.
Well Dan, I'm as shocked as you are on the best looking stuff not having any gold. I guess it ran away before you bagged the ore. 😂 Seriously though, now I wonder about that awesome specimen you're sending for the special assay. Can't help but wonder how much will be in that? That is a result that makes you grind with anticipation! 🤔🧐🥺 Not sure if I can wait for that. You must be losing sleep over it, too! It was great to see Jason and Harry there helping out. I'm not sure if I have ever said it in a post before, but Jason really has awesome equipment and set up to run almost anything through to get immediate answers on whether or not there is gold in it. It is wonderful of him to do that for you. Last, I learned something new while watching: nugget effect (I think that was what you called it). It wasn't a GLOTD, but a very interesting concept or theory. It sounds like a hide and seek, not knowing where to mine, and in what direction. If you're lucky you find it, if not, you have wasted time, energy and money. I guess the old saying, "never judge a book by its cover" still applies to this. The ore might suggest it's loaded, but the facts at the end show it's not worth anything. I sure hope this isn't the case, Dan! You work so hard prospecting and we all want the best for you and your family. I will see you on the next video. Hopefully it's before Christmas. 🎄 If not, may you have a blessed and peaceful Christmas! Prayers and blessings from Alabama ❤️
Tell yah what between Dan, Jason, Harry and now Brent, 2024 is gonna be a HUGE year in this community! Such absolutely incredible content. Light years ahead of any Discovery or commercial channels productions and content! Thos IS the new media of edutainment! ❤ and these are the guys to do it! What a team yet each masters in thier own right!
I need to send you some bucket handles replacement. I need to watch this twice. If in cripple Creek Colorado. To take a tour of the Molly Kathleen gold mine. 1000 feet down ride in a bird cage. Later.
It's probably too late in the year for this Dan, but. A lot of the maker UA-camrs do a secret santa where they make items for each other, mail them off and make videos of them making and receiving the gifts. Colin Furze is a great example. Something similar for miners on youtube would be awesome.
Jason ought to give that rock crusher a name like Rocky, or, The Kraken, or maybe, "Rosie," yeah, like, "A Whole Lot of Rosie," LoL,😊or something cool that's appropriate. ❤😊
Looking at the rock crusher eating the rocks remind me of my sister in law going after a lasagna.😂😂😂😂😂 great video thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise and hello from Detroit Michigan USA
Seems like that screen on the bottom of the hammermill might have either a few larger holes in it or it's out of position somehow and is letting larger pieces get by.
I wonder why I’ve never seen electrum made into jewelry? I would think the gold would be soft enough that it would be like, adding the copper to silver to make it sterling I bet it would be beautiful. I also wonder if they take all the iron sands that are left over from the consand smelt that into her it’s not worth the time
I still wonder how much gold is in all the sulfides that he rarely ever smelts. It'd be hilarious if you threw in a bunch of junk rock and got metal.. it's actually possible using serpentine. I've got some chunks of serpentine with minerals showing in them.
So at what point (what size bead) do you figure it's worth sending things away for an assey ? These beads seem so small that It makes me wonder where the line is
Hey Dan I was just wondering if Jason's shaker table can process the material down to straight gold from cons? I think it is the MSI Miller table that I have seen process it to all gold, thanks
In watching your and Jason's videos, (crushing and shaker table), it seems the stress is on releasing free mill gold. What percentage of the time in gold mining is all the gold or most of the gold bound up in sulfides, that have to be smelted to get them out?
At this point the "Welgcome" is undeniably intentional! How long are you going to leave me hanging about how the two part intro welcoming came into fruition? I mentioned it a few years ago and it went away, then after a few honourable mentions throughout a couple of years, through comments on multiple videos, it finally came back with emphasis and is now a staple of the intro. So..... Mr English teacher, from one grammar aficionado to another, what is the "Welgcome" story? Please, oh please, dont leave me wondering again!
Right. I was a bit sad and started typing in the comments thinking it was live chat haha. I missed the last couple premiers because of work and thought I finally was going to be at one again haha.
Nobody cares about Dan anymore cause he doesn't get back to messages or answer questions on his Instagram or YT ... I FOLLOWED HIM FOR YEARS NOW AND STILL NO REPLY AFTER 8 MONTHS ON INSTAGRAM... THANKS DAN !!!! AND JASON IS JUST AS BAD ON HIS SOCIALS
Start every morning with a good Ole Dan video! We are so lucky to be able to see your work! Thank you for being a UA-camr Dan!!!!!!

That's why you earned my subscription years ago!
For you, Dan: I always wish you luck. You know your Rocks. And you just roll them out. Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
I could sit and watch the Jaw Crusher all day. It fascinates me for one reason and it also relaxes me.❤ I enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing it.
Just A tip for smeltning...

When some rich iron hits that jaw crusher the flash is pretty noticeable. Too cool!

It was a good showing on these mines thanks for sharing this six stars
Some great looking samples that definitely tell a golden story.
Thanks for sharing

Dan, your videos are so much fun to watch. Love Jason's crew as well.
That ol' Dan Hurd is a heck of a narrator. The personality mold was thrown in the rock crusher after ol' Dan Hurd came about. ❤😊
Two of the nicest UA-camrs on the internet.
UA-cam has become the Dan and Jason app and I'm lovin' it.
Pretty much! haha. It’s great

Almost matched the BPM of the song up with the first closeup shot of the muncher. Pretty neat even if it wasn't intentional.
Nice job guys!
Great year Dan! The slow mo is new I think, you up your editing game? Love how you do your channel and your collaboration with Jason.

i'm a fan of malachite, specially all polished up
Dan, I've never seen you smelt silver. Can you smelt both gold and silver concurrently or with different steps? How about a video about it?
Thanks for another awesome video.
Great videos Dan! Thanks!

Nice to see you guys work without it pooring rain.
5:15 ....the crusher in slo-mo = ASMR 😄
As soon as I saw that upside down pyramid I knew Mount Baker was in the mix.
Merry Christmas Dan and family, be safe.
Nice work.
Enjoyed the video guys.
keep up with the good footage dan!👍👍👍👍👍
Just voted for MBLQ.....lol! I'm getting around dam good today.... adventure everywhere thanks to all these people....💪⚖️⚒️👷✌️🤠
Thanks Dan that was awesome you guys Rock 🎉🎉🎉

Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Thanks
Lol Jason @mbmmllc looked so excited to “Throw it in the crusher”!!!
Have you moved in with Jason 😊😊😊 go for it you two have to much fun love your shows
Good afternoon from Copperhill Tn.
Amazing mind blowing Super
3:38 when sending garbage rock through crusher...that would be a great sound effect in a movie of a large army marching...
Just realized I wasn’t subscribed when you had already earned my subscription… 🤯
I need to send you some bucket handles replacement. I need to watch this twice. If in cripple Creek Colorado. To take a tour of the Molly Kathleen gold mine. 1000 feet down ride in a bird cage. Later.

Looks like Jason might wanna replace the screen in the impact crusher and get the material down finer.

Wait this isn’t live chat 😅
haha you're gonna smelt the number two. Another great video dude.
Jason ought to give that rock crusher a name like Rocky, or, The Kraken, or maybe, "Rosie," yeah, like, "A Whole Lot of Rosie," LoL,😊or something cool that's appropriate. ❤😊
I could watch silent videos of this ore processing all day.
So, what is the assay of the new mine? Ounces per ton? Love your crazy channel!!!! Living the Adventurous Life
Merry Christmas
Very interesting!
Every time rock goes into the crusher, my brain goes num num num num num num num num num num num num num num num 😅🤣
If you put a square cardboard on top of your fire brick before you put the cup on it to smelt that brick won't stick to it
I love the phrase Hurd Herd... does that make me a Hurd nerd?
Looking at the rock crusher eating the rocks remind me of my sister in law going after a lasagna.😂😂😂😂😂 great video thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise and hello from Detroit Michigan USA
😂👍🏻 get ready for Christmas!

here for the rock crusher shots

Very excellent, how much does this crusher cost sir?
Do you ever catch and pan the tailings from the rock saws?
Did Jason's hammer mill get a hole in the screen? looks like a little bit of larger material is escaping the mill and ending up on the table.
So at what point (what size bead) do you figure it's worth sending things away for an assey ? These beads seem so small that It makes me wonder where the line is
The top corner of a round pan is that the geometry lesson of the day?😂😎
Hey Dan I was just wondering if Jason's shaker table can process the material down to straight gold from cons? I think it is the MSI Miller table that I have seen process it to all gold, thanks
Gold is very heavy. Be glad when you carry heavy ore bags!
I’m certain Dan is the real commentator of wipeout 😂

The real gold mine was UA-cam all along.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but, can the gold and silver be separated, or is it stuck as an alloy for ever?
Have you ever tried the Grand Canyon? Is there any gold there?
Honest question: do you ever get any heat bringing your rock across the border from BC to Washington and back?
Even the Chicken in the background agrees 👍.
what the actual flux? this was a great day of smashing rocks.
I like you Dan you have nice voice and you have a great personality charisma with my best wishes form Irag
Good morning, Dan Heavy pans to Ya !
Merry Christmas to all. 🎄
Greetings from southwestern Oregon and the Gold Hill mining district. ⛏⚒⛏
Do you lose gold in the smelting process?
Now how does that compare to Sylvania or silver gold telluride?
Say Dan, if you ever need an armed guard..I an a vet an I volunteer !!!
So much free gold
anyone else think the jaw crusher could use a couple of googly eyes on the two bolt heads or is that just me?
Why don't they put the capelle in the furnace when you're melting in the crucible? Is it too hot in there?
208👍's up Dan Hurd thank you for sharing 😎
no live chat?
Right. I was a bit sad and started typing in the comments thinking it was live chat haha. I missed the last couple premiers because of work and thought I finally was going to be at one again haha.
Not doing live premiers for a little bit, need to spend more time with family
@@Danhurd nothing wrong with that. You give us a lot of your time and we appreciate it greatly! We only get bummed we don’t get more or you is all 😁
Are you able to separate the gold from the silver during the smelting process? Or do you loose the silver while getting the gold?
It becomes an alloy, requires chemical extraction to part the silver from the gold in the next step.
It's referred to as "electrum" (D&D REFERENCE LOL!)
@@SuperSlacker69 I have heard there were additional classifications for the ratio of Au to Ag.
What no views... Let me change that.

Her fatigue is greater than her production of gold
