Clean Your Coffee Travel Mug The Easy Way

- Cleaning your travel mug for tea or coffee can be cumbersome given you cannot throw it into the dishwasher. But simply follow these steps:
1. Add dishwasher tablet to travel mug
2. Add hot water
3. Let the travel mug sit for around 1 hour
4. Rinse and remove any remaining debris with a brush

I can 100% confirm that this works a treat.
Just tried it, not a tablet but instead put 2 large tablespoons of Persil, fill cup to the top with boiling water leave for an hour then drain and rinse and wash cup and its literally like new.

Martin! Just gotta say THANK YOU. I have a Technivorm MochaMaster drip machine with a stainless steel carafe. I love the machine, but the shape of the carafe makes it impossible to clean properly - it looked 10x worse inside than your travel mug.
I tried this tip today, and it worked perfectly! It honestly looks brand new inside. Every bit of gunk was gone, with no scrubbing or effort at all. AMAZING.

Wasn’t sure on this. Worked wonders. Like new in 10 mins. Would t have thought of this!!!
This trick also works well to clean the kitchen sink and plug. Let the tablet dissolve in a good amount of water. Move the solution up the sides of the sink with a brush. Later when emptying sink, scrub plug and hole with brush. Rinse with clean water.
You can also put the plug and kitchen cloth in the dishwasher with a cycle of dishes, making sure cloth doesn't fall down to stop dishwasher arm from rotating.
So I just went along and did this. I am honestly doubting if the mug was this clean when I bought it. Damn this works well!

Works like a champ! Drop in a dishwasher pod, add boiling water, wait ten minutes and it's perfect!

Of all the methods, The dish powder or Tablet seem to work the nest which is NOT not surprising because it the same way you normally clean your dishes in the washer ANYWAY> Actually just take a normal coffee scoop of powder and just run it just like making a pot of coffee. BUT fill the pot to a full amount maybe 5 cups, if that is the size you have in your maker. But just rinse it out really good. It should clean the coffee pot machine also really well.
Natural way if you dont have dishwasher tablets, baking soda, vinegar, and a brush

I was told by an expert that they say not to wash in dishwasher because they don't trust people putting it in the bottom rack. However they are safe if put in the top rack.

Those tablets are pretty expensive for cleaning just one Tumblr however I find that baking soda and water or baking and soda vinegar have the same result used the same way basically

How about washing them after every use so they don't get stained like that. I drink my coffee black and use my tumbler everyday and I wash it everyday. Had it for years and it's never been stained

I wonder.... my travel mug cover doesn't come apart... if I did this and then put the cover on, would the bubbling action clean out the "can't reach" parts of the cover?

Nobody is able to find a way to clean these things. They all have video like this that show common sense ways of cleaning the easy part. The lids are a serious problem and can't seem to be cleaned properly with any method.
Contigo allows to use dishwasher. In other words, you can use exactly the same method.
OxiClean Free works wonders on this kind of thing as well
Regular OxiClean as well. I put a tablespoon of it in my mug and followed that with about 2 inches of boiling water. After the foaming stopped, I filled the mug the rest of the way, put on the lid and turned the whole thing upside down.
After five minutes or so it is good to turn it upright and let off the built up pressure and invert it again.
After a half hour it was crazy clean!

This worked unbelievably well. Unfortunately I won't recommend it because it left a strong soap smell inside the mug.
One spoon full of oxi clean does the same. Works great as a pre spray stain remover on clothes too. Why buy a bottle of stain remover. You probably already have oxi clean.
or simply rub with baking soda while a bit wet, you can finish in 1 minute and its safe. Or a powdery salt, even safer.
Soak in bleach water.
