Mariah Carey who’s also a great song writer who also has the most number one hits than any solo artist and has stayed at #1 longer than any artist consistently. She also wrote all I want for Christmas in 14minutes but she does the exact same thing. She sings the melody then adds lyrics. She’s so underrated for her song writing, sadly the label back in the 90s didn’t like the thought of women of colour having all the credit so they would add white male or female writers on to the credits even though Mariah would write most of these songs when she was in high school.
Well idk how true that is lmao she worked with Walter on a lot of her early albums. The people she work with tend to be moreso composers rather than lyricists like herself though, but they still get credits
Why are you lying?? First of all Mariah is very white passing. In the early 90s everyone thought she was white for a reason. She never had to deal with the type of racism that dark skinned black ladies had to go through such as Whitney Houston. Let's not even go there lmfao. Second of all Mariah LIKES collaborating with other song writers such as Walter. They are her friends. They create the music together. It has nothing to do with people not wanting to give her the sole credit. That's not how the industry works. Lastly your statement doesn't even make sense because back in the 90s Mariah had the least amount of other writers work on her songs. Generally only 1 other partner as opposed to the majority of her music after the 2000s where she worked with multiple writers on her songs. Look at her last album. There are tons of other writers credited to have written the songs.

@@jensenraylight8011 Not in my case, hopefully 😅 I try my best to get the most emotionally charged words in the song and put emphasis on them, be it with intensity (like volume), a higher note, maybe an outside note (Like suppose I am writing in C Major, and I see that the next line has something about the sun rising, then I might try to add a chord from C Lydian and sing Sun Rising with that #4 note F# in this case. Or if in that same song in C I see a line with something like "and I'm feeling down" then I would probably try to sing that word "down" with a flat 7th, get a chord from C Mixolydian)
This is just what I have been trying to learn and get used to recently. No doubt that there is a huge learning curve. I understand that maybe someone's first attempt at writing melody to poetry may seem a bit monotonous, but try your best to paint the picture the lyrics tells by means of melody as well
A really good melody with uninspired lyrics might even distract from the melody. Amazing poetry but with an uninspired melody will make it all sound dull and repetitive I believe. The best is when, either starting from poetry or melody, you try your best to compliment the other and not make something parallel and hope for the best.
@@kevin_dasilva i see, i should try writing some poetry myself and changing chords with modal interchange, and see how it's going.
thanks for the tips, it quite helpful
@@jensenraylight8011 Sure thing, I would love to see what you come up with 😁
Beautiful artistic minds
I may hate Sia for things she has done but she’s very talented!!
What has she done?
you can separate the art and the artist for that one, just disappointing she happened to be ableist
@@RichARichTV her movie is very ableist. And just her general vew on authism is very nasty.
@@RichARichTV She ableist. She casted a neurotypical actress to play an autistic character and showed a few very dangerous restraint methods for autistic people in her movie. She also partnered with Autism Speaks who are known to be very ableist and portray autistic people very badly in their advertising
She also begged zayn for a song they "collabed" on (zayn wrote the entire song) and she ended up getting millions for a song she didnt do anything for (zayn did a play of it by himself and it sounded so good)
I always did this when trying to write a song, didn’t think anyone else did it that’s awesome!!
Sia is musical genius, every song she make is different but tunes kinda same
Shine bright like a flashlight
Sia is my favorite artist and she is hella underrated. All of the albums on her discography are amazing, from 2001 to now. Give it a shot, especially Healing Is Difficult, Color The Small One and Some People Havel REAL Problems
The Woman you lost to cocaine, Soon We'll Be Found, so many others nobody will hear cuz they're not radio friendly
Ye been doing this as well. Is like just using your flow's vibe make the song. It really helps you keep your inner child while keeping it professional. Great workmm
it's like studying making art for 20 years, to be able to create a master piece in 20 minutes.
I like writing music for fun, I work on the melodies first too, it helps me complete songs in a very short period of time and it definitely works
Ed Sheeran, I believe, also wrote hit songs. (2002, Love Yourself and cowrote Woman Like Me)
Shes great
She is very talented, she got kidnapped and held in someone's basement to write songs.
Pls-
Sia is my favorite singer!!
It’s crazy that I’ve been writing songs like this and didn’t even know this was a technique that actual song makers use…
Same. It was just natural
Where are your hits?
That's a really good strat
Tbh a lot of songs come out in a burst! It’s what happen when you’re in flow. But of course sometimes you store lyrics for ages and then make a song later.
I wrote this one with love so don't hate on it..
(Verse 1)
In the morning light, a brand new day,
Chasing dreams, we’re on our way.
Sunshine smiles, skies so blue,
Living life, feeling brand new.
(Pre-Chorus)
Dancing through the highs and lows,
Every moment, our excitement grows.
Adventure calls, we’re gonna fly,
In this fantastic life, we touch the sky.
(Chorus)
Oh, oh, oh, living the dream,
In a world where the stars all gleam.
Oh, oh, oh, feeling so alive,
In this fantastic life, we thrive.
(Verse 2)
City lights, neon glow,
A symphony of life, here we go.
Friends around, laughter rings,
In our hearts, the joy it brings.
(Pre-Chorus)
Dancing through the highs and lows,
Every moment, our excitement grows.
Adventure calls, we’re gonna fly,
In this fantastic life, we touch the sky.
(Chorus)
Oh, oh, oh, living the dream,
In a world where the stars all gleam.
Oh, oh, oh, feeling so alive,
In this fantastic life, we thrive.
(Bridge)
Hold on tight, the ride’s so sweet,
Hearts in sync, moving to the beat.
Climb those mountains, cross the seas,
In this fantastic life, we’re wild and free.
(Chorus)
Oh, oh, oh, living the dream,
In a world where the stars all gleam.
Oh, oh, oh, feeling so alive,
In this fantastic life, we thrive.
(Outro)
Underneath the moonlit sky,
Grateful hearts, forever high.
In this melody, our spirits rise,
Cheers to this fantastic life, our paradise.
Sia is one of the most underrated artists, I love her so much

Sia Furler is a legend. One of my favorites
Now I want to hear Sia singing Diamond ! 😭😭
She does in her tour
I'm not a songwriter or singer but I loved singing as a child and that was always my method. Get the melody and then write the lyrics
??? you have no idea how the music industy works
You're so ignorant and gullible omg
Mariah is pretty much a white woman phenotypically so idk about that
Why are you lying??
This is true for many good artists. Best people I work with will him a catchy melody, and fill in the words later
As someone who stans a person that has written top songs in their group in like three minutes I still find this impressive and wonder if this is how he does it or maybe he's just a genius.
Who are you talking about btw??

Yea your not wrong
Amazing
Sia is just incredible I have no words for that voice
I love you now and I’m subbed I love Sia she’s my #1 favorite Artist of all time
Sia, Carole King, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, Ne Yo, Ed Sheeran, Priscilla Renea are few of the best songwriters today!❤️
AMAZING
Sia is always legendary 😳
I used to hear this 🎵
She wrote wild ones in 15 minutes it’s crazy
And I'm obsessed with her "snowman" with now!✨
The thing is, when you try writing good lyrics, someday those good lyrics come in seconds, maling your writing process really fast. 14 minutes is actually quite normal if you‘re used to writing lyrics.
I love the song "diamonds" it's literally one of my favorite songs and it's because I listened to it when I was like 4 years old and I got obsessed
Lol I think u should of used Michael Jackson as an example, he has so many hits that he wrote, he used that technique as well!
You mj stans really hate it when other artist's talent get acknowledged do you?

theyve been doing that for decades, it makes much more sense usually, unless you just have some great lyrics in your head already
Wow man!Super interesting and humbly,I had noticed the tecnique.I use it myself ;)Cool video
Sia is my favorite artist of all time. The fact that her songs are meaningful, and her singing style is sooooo unique and really hits you in your heart. And the songs she writes for other are amazing aswell.
Thank you
And every good singer is also a songwriter like hank williams
Or Harry styles
Or Stevie Nicks
Or Miley Cyrus
Aww that's exactly what I been doing ✨😮
Sometimes it only takes a few minutes to make something great. Some of the best songs were written in a few minutes.
Sia also is great at writing the right songs for the right artist. It’s like being a fashion designer and a stylist. You know you to make something that looks good AND who it’ll look good on. Sia knows how to write catchy songs and she know which singer’s voice would make that song truly shine.
Idk if I want to write a hit song like Sia. She’s trapped in the Beysment because of her hits.
Sia is a real inspiration I love her
She writes a lot but us far from the best writers in the industry.
Who are the best writers in the industry? 🤔
I love the way Sia wrote music, it's inspiring and the beats are good ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Linkin Park's Chester Bennington actually uses the same technique.
He doesn't anymore lol
The late Chester Bennington. RIP
used* but yeah we get it
Oh! Oh! This is how I'm doing it too! Waaaaah! 👏👏👏
That is so basic most songwriters do that even rappers (who write their songs) do that. Writing song in 14 minutes is fast but not that surprising. I do write song lyrics but just for myself not made into songs. I've wrote more than a hundred songs and just know that the more you write the faster you can write. If you already has a melody the words automatically comes into mind even though it don't make sense but you can make it make sense
Yup, also the song is very repetitive
Wow this is how I write music I didn't know other people did the same cool
How to write a hit song... Take chords commons in hits, make a melody in tune with the chords, vague evocative lyrics... Then have a industry made by hundreds of people that turn it into a hit, whit actual production and then marketing.
Sia is legit my fav singer 💜
Btw thx for the tip!
It sounds like a song that was written in 14 minutes. Just because it’s popular doesn’t make it quality.
Facts
The song has quality, it’s catchy, the lyrics are bomb, the melody and production are fireeee so what more quality do you need ????
Was gonna say this.. it was written in 14 minutes and it shows lol
She’s profound a real philosopher
Mariah has been doing that kinda technique in songwriting even before Sia became popular. PLUS, Mariah also writes her own lyrics
Sia does write her own songs plus she's relevant rn something Mariah is only on Christmas, plus stay pressed and jealous
@@sauron9262 Sia wasn't making music in the 90s like Mariah was. Sia doesn't have a career thats 30 plus years long. Sia doesn't have 19#1 hits. Sai doesn't have a #1 hit in 4 different decade's. Sia doesn't have song of the decade. Mariah makes more money in December then what Sia does for writing "hit" songs lmao.
Don't try and compare or talk about who's relevant because one actually has a career, a very successful career that any artist wish they could atleast 20% off. Trust me, Mariah or her fans have nothing to be pressed or jealous about.
@@codywalsh2075 yes Sia has song of the decade, Chandelier, she's making music for +25 years, she has hits since 2009, she's the only +40yo artist that still is relevant for young gen, she's the ONLY female SONGWRITER to have 9 songs with more than 1billion streams, the first to achiebe 1B on Spotify with cheap thrills... Ummm just different reaches, sia is more relevant now than Mariah, Mariah is on the past, making money in december when Sia does the whole year just with diamonds by Rihanna, and she has more than 100 songs for other people... Nah, Sia IS BETTER
@@sauron9262 better at what exactly lmao? And no Sia doesn't have song of the decade. Mariah does though, for the 90s and the 2000s. One sweet say #1 for 16 weeks. We belong together #1 for 14 weeks. That 1 Christmas song has made Mariah over 60 million dollars. And that's just 1 of her hits. Sia doesn't come close to Mariah is Songwriting, singing or success. One had to give songs to other's while the other kept her own songs and became one of the most successful Female of all time. Lmaoooo
This is why so many hit songs are shallow and not really interesting after you've listened a couple of times. real artists that write from the heart know what they wanna say and write cause they wanna tell a story, not because they need a hit song
As predatory as she is, shes a fantastic musician.
Sia is extremely talented and her music is great, her voice is incredible too!
Yeah she's an aweful person, but you can listen to her songs without supporting the creator
I'm not a musician, but I can sing and I've written some songs and that's how I write. I always start with the melody and then write my versus around that...it's easier that way. But I feel like most people do that.
she’s so talented, too bad she’s ableist
This is also how I compose music. The hardest part tho is the instrumental. You need to keep everything in organized bop sequence. And every detail needs every pressure. Like when you do drum or use a synth pad or do you wanna use piano to be more expressive or you wanna add it with a violin or saxophone or smthng. But kudos to all music producers. Its a hard job also.
Just another reason I heart SIA
