Great video mate but i’d love to see a video explaining what the fundamental concepts behind certain looks are. Time after time while searching UA-cam while learning I see photographers post instructional videos and they simply take you through their editing process. I really want to understand what ‘makes’ a photo look like a cinematic photo or what ‘makes’ a photo look like a vintage film photo. If feel like if I can understand these fundamental concepts I can choose how and what to shoot so that I can then go on to choose how to edit the photo to achieve a certain look.
great tutorial. Just dont forget color grading is so subjective. I would advice to get your picture in good exposure so that you wont over or under exposed your photos. Its easier and funner to edit in Lightroom
These are all raw files! You will still be able to apply all the same techniques to jpgs, sometimes you just won’t be able to push them quite as far, especially if the exposure isn’t quite right. So definitely shoot raw if you can :)

Oh, I didn't realize you could subtract the subject within the radial gradient. What a helpful feature!
It’s so good! You can use it with any of the masking tools to add or subtract - works a treat!
Game changer for sure
I love cinematic editing, thank you very much for doing this amazing job. Definitely gonna try it. Thanks a lot

I'm kinda new to this. The first curve you're editing -- does that correspond to the RGB curve or the Luma curve in Capture One? Thanks!

Damn. My question didn't even make the idea hat. 😢 Still a great interview. So many great Ian K mamories.
Amazing edit 😍, what version of LR are you using in the video?

I'll see what I can do! Added to my list of video's to make :)
Why I can't move the black and white point on curves ?
Which camera you use
Can you do a Star Wars color grading video?

These take the editing process way too far…the images look unnatural now.
I think that wass the intention
It’s not meant to look natural it’s meant to look dramatic and expressive
Shut up
So ? They're stylized
