I am SO with you on Halo. I'm a mom and Halo 1 is still my favorite game of all time.
he seems like a genuinly nice guy
Fantastic!
German guy here. Our medical system pays for all medical bills, regardless if you are employed or not. You can get private insurance, which is a lot more expensive and gets you extra features like bigger hospital rooms etc., but the free healthcare is really good in regard of the quality of the service.
Last year i received a cheque from my insurance company, because there was to much in the pot (the companies make no profit.)
Don't believe your bribed government, dear USA citizen!
this is the best kind of capitalism. using wealth to back things that actually matter and other people don't have the platform to back. keep it up, rod!
The document is 4 years old, which is not outdated. Everyone has a point of view, mine being Libertarian. The document I suggested is very well researched, with 340 citations. I have reservations about the Koch brothers, too, but that does not mean this article is invalid.
Rod, try the Mass Effect series! I guarantee you'll love them!
seems like a cool guy
i wanna have a beer with him
I'm glad you have somehow avoided corruption in Sweden! In no way am I ignoring the plight of those who can't afford health care. Capitalism is the most compassionate economic system. What we need in the USA are less government mandates and tort reform. If the cost of insurance and litigation were reduced, doctors would be willing to provide healthcare to those who couldn't afford it, like used to happen 50 years ago. Rarely was a patient turned away, and medical technology rapidly improved.
I face-palmed myself, because it only lasted for a about half a second, but I was like "Wow, neat, I wonder how he knows Rod R-..." *smack*
He should check out the Zeitgeist Movement and the Venus Project. A resource based economy is something that we can implement now and it would benefit all people.
How did the ad know I was having LASIK next week? o.O
Scuba diving is fantastic. I'd love to be able to do it but my inner ear problems won't let me. :(
I like his Oakley's tan.
Mass Effect is very Star Trek like, that should be a movie.
yeah i was like hes a bit of a geek but then he said halo and i was like omg omg i love this guy XD!!!!!!!!!!halo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because, Ron here doesn't own the Star Trek brand. That belongs to paramount. Besides, Star Trek was really about the moral lessons each episode teaches. It wasn't about meeting new aliens. At least, that's what Star Trek was about when Gene Roddenberry was alive.
Hey Rod, why no "Star Trek: The next, next Generation"? Push it like 200-400 years in the future and have 'em exploring parts of the other three quadrants. Local major powers can either stay relevant as part of a NATO coalition or they can fade away like all the story elements from the original series has done.
Things that should be abolished in a free society. Freedom of contract must be respected.
You could see him read a script at the end.
You may not be forced to use it, but you are forced to pay for it.
Halo ftw !!!... he should make the movie
I'm glad that German health care is working for you! I see that rising costs have led to cut backs in services and increases in cost. This will continue as long as the gov't runs healthcare. Profit is the mechanism that tells a company that it is providing a service or product needed by the market. Without profit, you exchange the invisible hand for mandates. Mandates in health care create shortages and increase cost. I don't believe my bribed gov't - they want more control!
Marathon. If he likes the story from Halo, he'd love the story from Marathon.
i bet when he was younger he owned every one on bring your father to work day.
Berlin Patient.
You wanted facts that support my argument, and I found it. I'm not sure what will satisfy you. WSJ has an article from 3 years ago entitled, "France Fights Universal Care's High Cost" which talks about soaring health care prices leading to more rationing of care. American Vision has a great op-ed called, "A Letter to a Supporter of Obamacare" discussing the moral failings of gov't medicine. Many articles are available discussing lengthy surgical wait times in the UK and Canada.
i woulda named my dog chief rather than halo
Wanna back that up with some factual evidence.
Absolutely not! Government-controlled health care leads to higher prices, rationed care, longer waits, less freedom, corruption, and bloat.
Don't play the third game though.
How come this guy hasn't played Mass Effect yet? Talk about being immersed in a game....
With all due respect, but he is far from the 1st person to have that idea.
Higher prices for what, the free healthcare? longer waits for what, the healthcare people wouldn't be able to afford otherwise? less freedom, compared to what for those that can't afford it today in USA? And maybe you have problems with corruption and bloat in the American government but I can tell you that here in Sweden it all works pretty damn well. I see you are looking at this from the eyes of someone that can afford healthcare and choosing to ignore the plight of those that can't.
