what would happen in the case where the shop installed index 12 injectors but forgot to code the injectors? do you need to remove them all again to write down the number to code them?
Thank you for the DIY! I just swapped out my 3 remaining index 8 injectors to index 12 with the help of your video. I had my mechanic do the initial 3 and didn't want to pay him to do the remaining. Luckily i was able to remove the original injectors by just pulling up with my hand. I thanked my lucky stars!
Awesome DIY. Thank you! Make sure when you use a torque wrench that you first tighten a bolt with a regular ratchet or wrench, then use the torque wrench only to torque after a bolt is first seated. Only hold the handle on the hand grip for accuracy. After you are done with a torque wrench, store it horizontally and unload its tension. Torque wrenches are very sensitive and calibrated precisely. Doing the above will ensure a precise torque setting and make your torque wrench last a long time and stay accurate.
Yeah I did that on the first round, but with so much footage I was using the TQ wrench to finish tighten as seen since I had to cut some much out. All and all, still good points! I'm having it calibrated as we speak :)
Haven't had to do this on my e90 yet. When I do, ill probably just see if there is an attachment for my slide hammer that matches threads rather than pay $65 for a tiny plastic slide hammer. Very good video, learned a lot.

I rebuilt my injectors instead of spending thousands on new injectors, usually what fucks up is the rubber O ring..I was getting miss fires on cylinder 2..my spark plug was soaked with gas..I ordered the special tool to install the o ring into the injectors.. so I basically saved thousands..
This is 100% false information. Does it makes sense to you that an AIR LEAK would cause a RICH condition? NO. Not if you know literally anything about engines and fuel systems. Injectors cannot be rebuilt. At least not without thousands of dollars in equipment, and EXPERTISE which you clearly don’t have. ‘What usually fucks up’ is not the ‘rubber o-ring’. First, it’s not an o-ring it’s a SEAL on the tip of the injector and it’s Teflon not rubber. Second, that’s not what typically causes the problem. They leak due to being gummed up internally. .

Clean the tips off with Injector cleaner (Not touching the little ring seal). Put them back in and success. For how long we don't know but it was all free anyway lol.

What I do when working with fuel lines is have saran wrap on hand to immediately wrap each end of the fuel lines as I remove them. wrap the tips with saran wrap and tape, then set aside with number labels. This way, I guarantee zero dust can get into the fuel lines accidentally.
Great video! Can you tell me why you estimate the savings at only $500 if the injectors and tools are around $1000 and the dealership you mentioned charges $2500?
Awesome channel brother. Bought an 08 335i a month ago. Opted out of the warranty. I have 80k. Noticed a rough idle cold start and its due for an oil change. Of course watching your channel, I started to perform the oil change, tune up and coil replacement. Noticed on the computer the oil was a tad low as well. So when I removed the oil fill cap I smelled gas! In your opinion, is this the injectors? No plumes of smoke and car runs okay. Got misfire codes on 3, 4 and 5. Oh and the oil fill cap is leaking. Sounds like a nightmare but would love your expertise! Thanks again for a great learning channel!
@@FinnyG47 Thanks for that! I ended up replacing just the one leaking injector with a good second hand one. Then ran an expensive total fuel cleaner for a couple of days then went through half a tank under hard driving with the cleaner. The car hasn't had a miss fire since! Bullet dodged so far 😅.

When i change the Injektors for some other used injektors, must i do the configuration too? Can i do the injektors clean too before i take other injektors?
If I am just pulling my injectors to clean the and I replace the seal and put them back in the same cylinder do they have to be recoded or will it be ok and why get them back in in five minutes?
Did you you do it and how did you get on? I'm planning to do it for a cylinder 3 misfire / injector fault as a first step. The teflon tip seal expands when removed from the engine block, so special tools needed to compress them before re-inserting. As far as I know, only recode when changing an injector - fuel flow rate is marked on the injector.

Most vids on other diesels just show people cranking till they start witch is not the greatest on the the starter. Any info would be great. Thanks... Subscribed!!!
If you’re leaving the car without injectors in for any length of time, should the fuel pump fuse or battery be disconnected? I know it primes when you open the door/unlock it. I prefer not to have fuel squirting all over. Or does it only spray if injectors are connected/energized.
How long original injector last any way? My car has just over 150k. It does run good. Great diy! Btw who was ur friend that sells coils? I need some Delphi
I having the problem of oil leak, it started on the oil housing which it has be replace those two gasket but now is on the head. I wondering if you could post a link where I could get the right part for the head gasket and the valve cover gasket.
Did yours start up instantly after change? Mine had to crank for about 60 seconds, then ran rough as nackers for a minute then cleared up and was smooth as a baby.
Thank you so much this video is the perfect DIY, just a question when the n54 gets injector fail do you have to replace all 6 injectors or can you just replace the one that is failing ?
Im confused, what wrench, wrench extension, and socket to use to remove that plate which holds both injectors. Can you please post exact links for tools i need to remove those plates. Thanks
Do you think it's possible to read the flow rates while the injectors are installed? Mine were installed without logging the numbers and I'm afraid to pull them back out again and damage the seal from the new injectors.
if only only of my injectors is bad should i just replace my index 8 fuel injector with another 8? dont really wanna replace all 6 with index 12s i dont have the money
Really appreciate your video. But I have a concern. I used the link to go to the site where you sourced the injectors, and unless there’s an error, they’re currently listed at just over $2,300 for the set. A single is listed at $379. Hi, Thank you very much for this video. Could you tell me what software you are using in a video and where did you get your cable. My son just got 2009 335I and when we floor it it is going to the limp mode. When we drive it normally nothing happens. Best regards.
What kind of fuel mixture codes were you getting. Where you running lean. Oh and did you have rough cold starts? My fbo n54 might be doing the same thing wonder if we have the same problems.
So in another video you posted in regards to the scan tool that connects to your computer. Are you not able to program your new injectors with that setup??? Thanks in advance!!!
Hey man! love the channel ! , hope u can give me a lil opinion on something...have a 2008 335xi ...runs pretty damn good but i noticed my oil smells like gas (noticed it when i emptied the catch can)...only 2k miles of the oil, smells under the engine cap also.the startup is good ..a small fluctuation afthe engine is warmed up.Thanks!..i live in europe so cant to blackstone:(
I just subscribed to your channel. I recently started having problems & check engine light with my 7series Bmw N63. First one was Dmtl fuel pump leak. After driving for 2 days. I did a burnout fresh tires I got then after it went into limp mode & start to show drive train malfunction in the engine. I drove it for a little to park it and start smoking from the engine but the car wasn’t overheating. Put the computer on it the error codes were running a code saying running lean & all cylinders misfire. It starts back up without a issue but it goes back into limp mode & sometimes shut off on its own. However I noticed a air seeping sound from the engine when it’s being rev. Please can someone help me find out what could be the issue here
Hello I got s question so I have a bad injector is this what causes my engine/car to shake when I accelerate on the highway and on idle.. just want to be sure this is my problem.. but I know it’s a bad injector thanks
Hoping mine aren't the same, already dealing with replacing blown turbos. I cleaned intake valves and replaced spark plugs, in efforts of fixing some misfires
Hi, thx for the video! May I ask you - did you turn off the battery before you start? Or switched sleep mode? I going to remove one injector. But im afraid obout unplug the injector electric connector. So is it nessesary to turn off battery first?
Disconnect your negative cable before you work anywhere by the Electronic components. Touch the Alternator with a metal tool and it can blow your on bord computer thousands of dollars for that mf
Great video! Got a question, if some one could answer, that would be great :) So, I got a 2011 F10 528i (258ps), N53B30A. Got a misfire on cyl 6. on cold start. Replaced the spark plugs, and coils. I also went ahead and replaced and later coded the injector on cyl.6. (index 12 - newest) The issue is still there though. New misfires in cyl. 6 after injector replacement on that same cylinder. Here's my question - do I need to replace all 6 so that they could work properly? The other 5 injectors are old index, and some 1 also told me that they needed to be replaced as well (although they are fine). Any input would be appreciated, thanks!!! :)
I ordered I new injector and upon pulling the plastic inlet cap off I saw a decent amount of what looks like and smells like machine/taping oil. Can you tell me if yours had this oil in the inlets? Or was this damaged in shipping?
Hey I know this an old video but why did the injectors price jump? To full or close to retail price of 1500$??? Is it cause the popularity in the motor?
It’s because all the ones bmw was supplying was because of the recall for injectors. The demand was there, so price point was low. Now thats not really an issue anymore and BMW hiked up the price 😬

Taking out the passenger side strut tower brace really helps to have more room to access the rear of the engine.

Hi, Thank you very much for this video. Could you tell me what software you are using in a video and where did you get your cable. My son just got 2009 335I and when we floor it it is going to the limp mode. When we drive it normally nothing happens. Best regards.
INPA software and my cable is from BimmerGeeks.net
Thank you very much! I bought it.
I upgraded to a MSD81 from a MSD80. Any special INPA issues to update the injector values?
What program are you using? I have misfire codes on cylinder 2&5 runs rough, and smell of fuel out of the exhaust
Tip: don't use a torque wrench to tighten things, use a normal ratchet and only use the tq wrench to finalize the torque
Yep
What kind of fuel mixture codes were you getting. Where you running lean. Oh and did you have rough cold starts? My fbo n54 might be doing the same thing wonder if we have the same problems.
+Max Melnichuk 29E1 control 2 - and yes! Not just cold starts, but on every startup during the day it was rough and shaky
O2 sensor issue when u ran lean? Or was it the injectors?
Great video! Halfway through it and glad you finally got it out :)
Scaled Down Autos Yeah really lol
I was working hard on that one 🤣
BMW Fanatic It payed off too
What did you use 8mm socket on?
Love your videos dude! Keep up the good work!!
Did you have to code it after the replacement?
Absolutely
Got a question for you guys. I have 6 index 01 injectors and I want to replace only one injector by an index 12. Is that a big deal?
Can anybody help. Do all injectors must replaced at same time?
So in another video you posted in regards to the scan tool that connects to your computer. Are you not able to program your new injectors with that setup???
Thanks in advance!!!
I don't think you can
how can you tell if you need new injectors? I’m getting 11mpg idk if thats a sign I need new injectors or I need to lighten up my foot
Hey man! love the channel ! , hope u can give me a lil opinion on something...have a 2008 335xi ...runs pretty damn good but i noticed my oil smells like gas (noticed it when i emptied the catch can)...only 2k miles of the oil, smells under the engine cap also.the startup is good ..a small fluctuation afthe engine is warmed up.Thanks!..i live in europe so cant to blackstone:(
funnyvids4uman so, did you change the injectors? If so, did that fix your oil smell?
Your the the carpassionchanel of bmw’s
Why did you replace the injectors? Did you test the old ones and found to be bad?
Fuel mixture codes on bank 2 - yeah they were bad
Hoping mine aren't the same, already dealing with replacing blown turbos. I cleaned intake valves and replaced spark plugs, in efforts of fixing some misfires
if you already have JB4 is it worth getting a dedicated BMW scan tool?
Yes!
BMW Fanatic keep up the great work man i'm going to need these tutorials... buying my first 335i this week 😈😈
DEX 1000 thx for reply. I have done it :)
Great video!
Got a question, if some one could answer, that would be great :)
So, I got a 2011 F10 528i (258ps), N53B30A.
Got a misfire on cyl 6. on cold start.
Replaced the spark plugs, and coils.
I also went ahead and replaced and later coded the injector on cyl.6. (index 12 - newest)
The issue is still there though.
Hi! How did you get on with your misfire on cylinder 6? Did you change all 6 injectors or just one? Unless, it was something else?
What year did BMW start putting these injectors in from the factory?
jt86tn 2006
BMW Fanatic Sorry, I should have been more specific in my question. What year(s) did they come with the index 12 injectors from the factory?
I ordered I new injector and upon pulling the plastic inlet cap off I saw a decent amount of what looks like and smells like machine/taping oil. Can you tell me if yours had this oil in the inlets? Or was this damaged in shipping?
+Travis Kemp yep same here!
BMW Fanatic so the oil is fine? Alrighty I'll cancel my return then :)
About at what mileage do you need to replace all of the injectors? My cars around 148300 miles?
-Genes- only after you have ruled out the (much cheaper) plugs and coil packs being the issue... those are the more usual culprits than the injectors
Awesome job man !!
