  • 2014 Freightliner Cascadia The kill switch on the floor next to the drivers seat went bad, with some info on what to look for if troubleshooting.
If your truck is shutting down and turning back on when you hit a bump, it could be this cutoff switch, but more likely the PNBD box is going bad.

Hey w c, i can't thank you enough. Just bought my first truck first night out my switch went out. All i knew was my truck was getting no power. My wife said (look it up on UA-cam), exactly what you explain was happening was the same as me. My switch twisted 360, blinkers everything. I got to the nearest freightliner bought the $82 Switch 10mins of labor (4 screws) wahla i got power. I thought i would have to get tolled it would've been over a grand in all of it wasn't for your video. Thanks again!!!

Bryan Moore That’s great, glad I could help. when you have the few hundred dollars I’d buy that PNBD box also that is bolted on the firewall that I pointed out in the video. Carry it with you in the truck. They are known that the relay goes bad, and you’ll have no power, or it will shut the truck off when you hit a bump and come back on going down the road. There is actually a technical bulletin from Freightliner with instructions on how to by pass and put in a older style relay box at the batteries. I just carry a new PNDB box in the truck if it goes bad. I have a few other videos on the truck and adding more.
Also would strongly advise get the diagnostic software subscription from Freightliner and a used NEXIQ connector so you can hook up your laptop to the truck to diagnose issues and not go into Freightliner. $500 a year for the subscription, and $300 for used NEXIQ. Already saved me a $1000 dollars this year. So will pay for itself the first time you don’t have to go to the shop. Good Luck to you!

I just had that problem with mine and all I did was disconnect the harness and made a 4 way contact in the plug with a wire all of them making contact and then removed the wire without concentrating back to the kill switch otherwise it will turn off the relay with that being said you could turn your key on or off and it will work hope that helps someone

I wish I had seen this video. I had a feeling mine was going bad. It went bad when I was at the dealer shop and had to pay about $600 so they could fix it. The work seems simple.

Ace King it’s a $80 part that might go bad every few years, don’t really see the reason to unless you don’t have $80 to buy a new one. Just put a new one in and never use it.
