Two years ago in april i took a massive overdose that i shouldnt have walked away from. My parents prayed non stop woth some friends from their church and i made a miraculous recovery. Since then i have dedicated my life to jesus christ and our heavenly father. It is a blessing to see so many others with powerful testimonies about their experience with jesus. Continually evolving? 1 day or 5000 days, it's the same thing. Just another day without drinking...What do you say about us who simply don't drink or never did? Were we continually evolving too? Been sober all my life of 33 years...as I don't drink alcohol. Course you wouldn't say we were evolving. It's no big deal, a day went past where we still didn't drink. It's like everyday.

I do plan on kicking that to curb soon but for now one vice at a time right now I was able to kick the ugly stuff now and been clean 4 months ish. I do get to admit the visit to so. Cal. Was literally the best visit one could ask for. I was able to have a last day with my dad. Although he couldn’t open his eyes or speak he was there. We held hands and he definitely was giving a nice squeeze to our hands my sister and i. It truly was a blessed trip. So I can say it was awesome. Seeing ur post was as well much loved and appreciated. I’m back in nor cal. Back to work and life is good. 👍 again ty my friend and I may ur day truly be a blessing!

Wow, I’m in tears when I saw the part of you dropping to your knees it brought back memories. My testimony was that I did the exact same thing in my sisters living room crying out to God. The night before I had smoked marijuana and had a bad reaction from it. The next day I was mentally tormented and I remember dropping to my knees asking God to take this away from me. It was that point and time in my life that I needed to go back to Church. My mom raised me a Lutheran and after that horrible episode I started going back to church and gave my life to Jesus and became a not ashamed born again Christian. My life after that was never the same and I thank Jesus for never giving up on me, I love him very much. 2:06

Sober 24 years this June every step has been a blessing. In November I lost my husband, the week before that I lost my eldest son to the disease of Alcoholism. The hardest road I have ever traveled. But this I know a drink or a pill will not make it any easier. Keep me all in your prayers, at a very young 66 years of age I am starting a new life that is scary and I don’t know just what it will bring. Tom you and Nova are wonderful inspiration when it gets hard to move forward. Love y’all keep on doing you!!!!!

“People don’t like me for things I forgot”…. That nails down the initial anxiety of recovery! Until you start to become better, like yourself again, and realize most of those people forgot those things too. Great job as always Tom and Nova!
I feel like that line is more of as he's moved on and got Sober, you start to love again and see yourself differently...but those who knew you at your worst and haven't seen the new you still remember the bad things you did or said, which is why they still hate him, because they remember but he moved on and forgot. Maybe I'm wrong. I suppose that's the beauty of music and lyrics though, they can be taken in differently. Absolutely fantastic song regardless.

Your work is therapy to so many of us and I just want to thank you for being so raw and vulnerable about this beautiful range of emotions that we all feel. And for being so uplifting to women- good men don't get a lot of credit in today's culture, but you are one artist I share with my kids, because we can get past bad words- they hear those from me- but there are too many bad ideas/messages that far outweigh the 4 letter stuff.
