I was lucky to find out about these guys early because they were at college with a good friend of mine. Saw them play all over in the 90s and still one of my favourite bands of all time. Unique sound. I remember seeing the cameras filming this one, never thought I'd be watching it on a computer 34 years later. Just wow.
Wow! I didn’t realise that this footage existed. I was there that night and I swear it was the best gig of my life. A night when everything came together just right. Thanks for posting this. I feel 20 years old again.
Me too Pal. Head full of fet and youth on my side. Nothing could stop that night from being great. The girl friend at the time was at uni on Oxford road. that was on of my high water marks for sure.
I wondered lonely as a cloud... New fads inspired me at the tender age of 14 to pick up a guitar and get self teaching with a wah wah ped They were the days Don't think Ive heard this in years Thanks for posting, taking us back and reinspiring me F awesome
And me. I must have seen them 15 times. Always there. But they couldn't capture that live sound on record. Even Big was so slow. Live, the best, just the best. Splendid, in fact....
3rd August 1990, supported James at Blackpool Empress Ballrooms. You all know how good James are live, these absolutely stole the show. Amazing doesn't come close, and yea, fair enough we was under the influence, but it was one night I'll never forget. When they ended, they jumped off stage into the crowd and straight to the bar! No idea why NFAD are not massive, great band.
I watched this on Granada tv after news at 10 fkn years ago.. been into them ever since… defo the best Manc band, these and Liverpool’s Real People where to ahead of there time these should have been the two biggest
Never saw them live unfortunately, but I did have their records on repeat for years. And even now I keep coming back to this awesome band. Thanks for sharing!
I was tripping out my face when I first heard New Fads. Fishes Eyes. Thought it was amazing to listen to on acid. Went back to listen again stoned. Loved them. Love them then, love them now.
Awesome to discover this... thank you whoever posted it. Saw them live at my first ever live gig when they supported The Charlatans at Edinburgh Playhouse. Great stuff.
Very cool material. this looks like a topshow; this steady funkfy drive, the weird things on top of it. Wish I lived close to the hacienda in those days.
i was a massive fan of the jon dasilva mix of "big" thats about as far as i got into them but the original mixes on the twelve inch really appealed to me as well. i was going to the hac then i wish id seen this. massively underrated these were.
Feel very honoured to have been at this gig. Also saw the Stone Roses, the fall, oasis, and the inspirals at the hacienda. Never saw any factory bands there though :-(
Man, I remember being right at the front for this when they were playing Big, in fact, I think I think there’s a very blurry, indistinct younger version of me for a very brief couple of seconds in there! I always remembered this video from the time too, so glad I randomly came across it. Happy, happy times!! 😁😁😁
Watchedvthen bliw the chalatans away supporting them at the playhouse Edinburgh around 1990 memory a bit hazeyp pluss mosst of my mates i went with riip ✌️😎🏴
We are trying to get the word out to re-unite the NFAD. do what you can. Pester them, bug them. Get them to play again. Preferably in the USA, and even more so in MN.
Any idea the date of this? Was flicking through my old tickets and have Northside and the Paris Angels (and New Fads?) on Monday 5th February 1990 at the Hacienda.... the night after The Wedding Present and the Edsell Auctioneer at The Ritz? I just don't remember it being filmed for OSM, unlike things like Dr Phibes and The Farm at Liverpool Uni later that spring, when there was a full camera crew! After that for the New FADS it was The International on Thursday 15th March (for an Anti Apartheid benefit), with The Waltones and Raintree County (plus a guest appearance from James.) And then Liverpool Uni's Temptation 2 night on Saturday 24th March! Desperately need a reunion of some sort!
Hi friend, I've had a look through my ticket album no joy, when I find my flyers album l'll have a look in there. It's just knowing where it is.... I've a lot of flyers from back then, so fingers crossed 🤞l'll let you know when I find it 😎
Shouldve been massive, one of the best bands of the 90s
Absolutely!
Couldn’t agree more 😀
Totally agree!!!, I can't for the life of me understand why shitty oasis got the limelight instead of new fads and neds atomic dustbin?.

What a band, been a pleasure doing a few listening parties with Andy and Pez during the lockdown... a reunion is unlikely but Andy didn’t say no!
A reunion would be awesome!
@@MegaRonaldo64 Agree. Plenty of us would turn up
@@MegaRonaldo64 true
I’ll definitely travel to uk from abroad if they play!
@@borealicoI'm abroad too and i would come

One of my all time favourite bands when I were a Young lass. Saw them live... Danced my ass off. Fantastic band!
And me. I must have seen them 15 times. Always there. But they couldn't capture that live sound on record. Even Big was so slow. Live, the best, just the best.
Splendid, in fact....
I was at Reading 91 and gutted i missed them as seeing ned's at the time :/
lucky you!

1991 oops
They weren’t massive because it’s a slightly odd sound and with the sound like the new 90s rock sound killed the bouncy music like new fads
Epic!!
Always remember them being one of the best live bands of the time... This proves it.
What a great band.
Loved this band and great memories of this gig. Still got the long sleeved T that the guitarist is wearing!
So good. Still stands up. So under rated. Happy 1990 memories waving me greasy fringe around...
0:27 - 3:59 JaggerBog
4:00 - 9:55 Big
10:00 - 15:30 Man Without Quality

Awesome, love the New Fads. Pigeonhole still one of my favourite albums.
It was mine too, but now it's the Peel Sessions album.
Dubious That Peel Session is just fantastic
It sure is
Graham Will I was the assistant sound engineer on Pigeonhole
Listening to it & this at the same time ✌️

That guy’s voice! This music was more exciting and intelligent than anything else out at the time.
I was there that night - loved this band. The best band ever that never made it !!
Great band all right!
They made it in my gaff!
Back when music was good - i feel for the kids nowadays
Never saw them live unfortunately, but I did have their records on repeat for years. And even now I keep coming back to this awesome band. Thanks for sharing!
I reckon I saw them ten or fifteen times, and this was likely one of them. What a band!
I was tripping out my face when I first heard New Fads. Fishes Eyes. Thought it was amazing to listen to on acid. Went back to listen again stoned. Loved them. Love them then, love them now.
