    God I love this so much. Can you go over how to clean your airbrush, particularly after using alcohol activated products? I have an airbrush cleanser, but I’m hesitant about using anything other than that airbrush brand’s product (Temptu) so haven’t tried my Skin Illustrator stuff yet

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  3 роки тому +4

      I always run 99% alcohol through the airbrush to clean it from any alcohol makeups. I don't use any sort fo airbrush cleansers. A lot of airbrush cleaners are designed for acrylics and other paints, so they tend to have harsher chemicals. If it's designed for cleaning an airbrush makeup, I imagine it's fine.

    This is amazing I'm going to starting airbrushing in July on my birthday...
    My husband is getting everything that I need to start but right now we're having some financial issues so this is an amazing find thank you so much for sharing this video!!!
    I've been in love with the idea of airbrushing ever since I worked at the haunted attraction in Hammond Indiana call Reaper's Realm...
    We had two of the most amazing airbrush artists this last year and Reaper's realm was having issues and this was the last time we were running...
    Once I realized that I wouldn't get to see those two women again I knew it was finally time to take up a new skill, I know that with airbrushing it's probably going to take me awhile to get good at it but it's an amazing way to do volunteer jobs to start a portfolio...

    I have not been able to find any info about using Mehron fx glitter or their precious gem powder in an airbrush. Is it possible or will it clog the airbrush?

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  Місяць тому

      The Mehron Precious gem powder should be fine. Would work similarly to the eyeshadow. You could skip the alcohol step. The glitter however I do think will clog most airbrush. I use a car detailer for more full body coverage. Something like that would be better for glitter.

      You can try with just the water or even a little witch hazel added. I found the eyeshadow I used didn’t blend well with it so I needed to use some sort of mixing liquid. Different pigments may not need it. Worth trying it out without the mixing liquid.

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  11 місяців тому

      I found some of the eyeshadows don’t mix well right into the mixing liquid. The alcohol is just to help breakdown the shadow before adding it to the mixing liquid. But you may not need that step depending on the eyeshadow.

      Thank you! I have found raking multiple times on the edge of the cup can pull out the majority of the liquid. You could even hold down the top of the brush with a spatula as you drag it against the cup, creating a squeegee effect.

    Thanks in advance! 💖

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  Рік тому +1

      Thank you glad you liked it! It fully depends on the makeup’s formula that you are using. If the brand of water activated you have comes off easily once fully dry when applied normal with a brush. Then yes it will act the same if you airbrush it. In that case you would either want to get a better brand of water activated or you can try some mehron mixing liquid in with the color when spraying. Also a good spray sealer may help.

      @ I tried that & it still ran & transferred. I tried both the solid cake & the liquid with their mixing no liquid, their setting powder & their setting spray.
      I had to use an antiperspirant in our hairline & on our t-zone to prevent sweating as much as possible. We still couldn’t touch it without it transferring.

    Thank you so much for sharing this! Would u mind talking a little bit about the different types of actual airbrush body paints? I heard there are me silicone, water and alcohol based. What application should be ideal for each and does it requiere different airbrush equipment? Thank you so much for all your valuable info. I also would like to learn about the process for the bold cap application, what types you can get which ones do you recommend, the product to make it stick to the skin. Also what can apply to create a barrier when using liquid latex, I'm not allergic to latex but my face is a bit sensitive, when applied liquid latex over face left my skin very irritated and red for a couple of days. Tha k you 🙏💞🌻

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  3 роки тому

      The airbrush equipment would be the same for all three types. Water based is going to be the cheapest since its not as resilient as the others. You're going to want to make sure you have a good sealer to help keep it on for longer wear. Alcohol based are great since they are waterproof and smudgeproof, similar to silicone based. Though silicone based usually run more expensive. Usually those are more for if you want a natural foundation airbrush look.
      I make my own bald caps. Think all your questions will make for a great video! I'll start working on one for the subject.
      As far as the latex causing your skin to become red. Are you just applying it then peeling it off when you are done? Using a gentle remover (isopropyl myristate) or an oil may help with the irritation, by breaking the latex down and release your skin from the bond. You can also protect your skin ahead of time with Derma Shield, that will create a layer between your skin and the latex.

    • @kittykittysoftpaws
      @kittykittysoftpaws 3 роки тому

      @@CrisAlex thank you so much for answering, yes i was peeling it the latex off 🙈, but also i could feel a little bit of sting when applying it, maybe the chemicals on it may be a little harsh for my skin? Definitely going to look up those products to create a barrier and also look up the remover. I used one of those qt latex bottles that were being sold during halloween at walmart...so haven't tried any other latex brands ro compare, i remember the smell being a little bit strong but nos sure if that is normal for liquid latex. Thank u! Love your content and your art!

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  3 роки тому +1

      Liquid latex does contain some ammonia. That may be causing the sensitivity. I don’t know about the levels in the Halloween ones compared to more professional brands. Wouldn’t be surprised if they added more to help with the shelf life. Definitely want to put a skin barrier down and maybe see about using a latex with lower ammonia.

    • @kittykittysoftpaws

    Do you apply a setting powder once you airbrush your makeup on?

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  3 роки тому +1

      There's no need to use setting powder with these three makeup types. The only times I would is powdering your eyelids to help set the water or alcohol activated colors. The eyeshadow method is mixed with setting liquid so that wouldn't have an issue. The other time you may want to use powder is if you use Graftobian. I have found if I do my base with their colors, they take alot longer to dry. Carefully applying setting powder would help to speed up the drying.

    Have you ever used with mixing liquid with the paradise cake paints?? I was also curious about using Inglot's Duraline with the paradise palettes. I know they are water activated and Duraline is silicone based. But if you're using it AS the activator then in theory I would think it wouldn't repel. But then again, I don't know what the base is for the cake paints. Like, would it even emulsify at all 🤔
    What's your take?

    • @CrisAlex
      @CrisAlex  Рік тому +1

      I haven't tried it with the mixing liquid. I would imagine you would be able to use the Duraline. Worst case if it doesn't seem to want to activate with the silicone. You would probably be able to use a small amount of alcohol to get the paradise paints to activate and get a consistency that blended well with the Duraline. Then the alcohol would flash off without effecting the silicone.
